  1. Thank you Pez, very well put.My uncle was very open when asked about what he went through as he believed that history shouldnt be sugar coated. As you rightly said about Vietnam, in times of war atrocities are commited by all sides to some degree, it is the nature of war and what it does to people at times of great stress etc.In todays conflicts greater care is taken to avoid civilian casualties, but in WW2 for example the Allies pounded German cities with little or no strategic or industrial significance but a high civilian population.......some would class this as an atrocity if it happened today.(and I know the Germans bombed British cities, but nowhere near the degree the Allies bombed the likes of Dresden etc, with upto a 1000 heavy bombers per raid)
  2. The SS were'nt all fanatical Nazi's, a large number of Waffen SS (the military arm of the SS, not the political arm) were career soldiers, not conscripted thugs.I had an uncle who was an SS Panzergrenadier (fought at Stalingrad, then sent to France and captured by the Yanks in Normandy, shipped to a POW camp in England, put to work on a farm and met my Aunt, eventually married her and settled in England),and he was a career soldier who despised what the Nazis stood for but fought because he was first and foremost a German soldier.A large proportion of German career soldiers hated Hitler with a passion.I have actually still got his Russian Front campaign medal.
  3. Cant wait to get them fitted, they look huge compared to the stock ones.spent a bit of time this afternoon straightening the bent fins in the core (were'nt that bad but if I didnt I would know they were there!), so they are spot-on now and good to go :)
  4. Did they make a noticeable improvement?
  5. Im hoping so Baz, finished work early today and got the Bailey dump valves fitted, and hope to get the Toyo intercoolers on tomorrow so less to do next week.will post some pics tomorrow :)
  6. The old girls going to Lee Dents next week to have the manual conversion fitted, and hope to get the Driftworks HICAS eliminator kit,Toyo intercoolers and Bailey dump valves fitted as well.Have got new handbrake and gearshift gaiters and a Nismo gearknob to go on with the manual conversion as well as a lightened flywheel and stage 3 clutch plus other bits and bobs so quite a few changes to her.would also like to change my scuttle panel and sort the vented centre panel for the front end out so going to be busy.will post some pics once its done :)
  7. Thats what im doing, have got Toyo's going in :)
  8. I cant on mine if I click on 'search' direct but it I click on 'todays posts' then 'search forums' at top left of page I can then search, if that makes sense.
  9. Ive paid £400 for my manual conversion that included everything down to the last nut and bolt, as well as a good standard clutch and flywheel but have spent a further £400 on an uprated clutch and lightened flywheel.
  10. Theres a place local to me that does chroming for classic bike and jaguar restorers, are reasonably priced and its very long lasting. They were recommended to me by a friend that had a lot of Mustang engine parts chromed and if he trusted his Mustang to them thats good enough for me, as the majority of their work is by word of mouth :)
  11. Just wondered, as in the service manual it says to remove the splashguard, remove the sidelight/indicator units and remove the mounting bolts with no mention of removing the front bumper!!??.
  12. Going to get mine chromed, as I would imagine that once polished and back on the engine with the coilpacks etc in place it would be a p.i.t.a to keep it polished with all the nooks and crannys Good luck with it though :)
  13. Is it possible to remove the stock smic's and refit without removing the front bumper?, which is a standard jdm bumper.:)
  14. Intercoolers and steering wheel turned up today (cheers Pez), as did the new steering wheel hub and nismo oil filler and rad caps :)
  15. Watch the opening credits carefully.....it says How I Mad !!! :)
  16. Ive seen the Dubai ones before, iirc they are dumped due to folks having to leave the country in a hurry when the property bubble burst or something like that.there was a documentory on it last year that showed all the sports cars at the airport carpark.
  17. Are you feeding them bread and seeds?.......you may get a bit more respect off them if you switch to cake! ;)
  18. Will do, hopefully the manual conversion is being done next week along with the Hicas delete.Maybe if theres time the moohasive Toyo intercoolers and dump valves will go on but will have to see. Also hope to get my spare plenum etc over to the chromers as well if I have time :)
  19. Had my new handbrake and gearshift gaiters, Nismo gearknob, n/a power steering pump and reservoir (cheers Pez) and braided steel clutch line (cheers MikeyB) delivered on Friday.....and today my stage 3 clutch kit and lightweight flywheel, Driftworks Hicas eliminator, Bailey dump valves and fitting kit and my order from MJP have all arrived so it going to be all change for the old girl, what with this lot and the manual conversion!. :).
