just renewed membership, sorry for delay
Hi Trish, back on the road thankfully for a burst in business, and no i wasn't part of the SSIA lol, no-one seems to be spending that yet. BTW Phil (you met him last year on the dunmore road) sold his z on friday. I met him friday morning and complemented him on how well his car looked and he said he had a buyer coming later that day.I was pretty shocked, this guy is a big z fan. He has sold his house at a bad time and needed the cash unfortunately. On friday evening I was going for the weekly shop with my daughter when his car passed me on the dublin road with a very happy looking fella driving it(remember that feeling lol). Anyway how you doin? I was going to text you last week from dunmore east, i took the day off for a z spin all alone, no kids....just me , the sunshine and good music.

Z Back on the road!!
Hi folks, couldn't be a better time with all this t-top weather we're having. Business has picked up so got her insured for the year (1200euro) and taxed for 3 months (330 euro) :xxx: .....but what the hell it's worth it to be back for another while :) Lots of new members here, great to see the 300zx isn't getting old and forgotten about. getting around town the last few day's watching people smile and point then row over what car it is never ceases to put a big grin on my face. Funny , there are about 3 or 4 z's in my home town of waterford now, there was only myself when i joined 300zx.co.uk , just yesterday a dark haired lady passed me in a met. green z so there seems to be a renewed interest in this wonderful car lately

reality check needed here....
I think putting it to bed is what i'm going to do for now. Insurance is up and i havn't taxed it for this year yet. It's So true, wheres a few grand going to get me anyway? Things might pick up, we're not on the breadline yet. I now believe selling it would only be a short term solution ,so that's it she's staying put in my backyard until i can afford to put her on the road again. Advice much appreciated from everyone, you've made me think more clearly about it.

reality check needed here....
That's exactly my problem. The big worry of regret that I sold it . I'm not exactly at the stage where the mortgage is in trouble yet but it's a possibility in the near future. It's just that decent 300's are becoming a lot harder to find. I don't wan't the risk factor on buying again.

reality check needed here....
I'm in the "will I or won't I sell it" stage which im sure a lot of you have gone through. Main reason is business has been quiet since january and it's putting a strain on the finances bigtime. I guess it will work itself out later in the year but for now my family come first. But jesus I LOVE this car so much it would be heartbreaking to sell it. On one hand i'm telling myself it's an un-necessary luxury, on the other I remember all the time and hard work i've put into it not to mention the money i've spent (when I wasn't self employed!) which i will never get back. What the hell do I do???????? mothball it? Go through weeks of tyre kicking by people in baseball caps and tatoo's who'll tell me a 91 zed isn't worth more than a couple of grand? And then regret selling it for below it's value and find next year when i have a few bob(hopefully) go to buy one and have to start over i can't find a decent one.... A family member recently helped me out, but recommended I "got rid of the car!?" and he wasn't referring to the wife's old volvo. Thing is trying to explain to someone that a 16 year old japanese car that I now only drive at weekends is NOT a financial burden is difficult when it looks like a ferrari/lambo, and sounds like the ground is splitting when she starts up. No doubt all you peeps will advise me not to sell. A problem shared is a problem halved though :)

Window tinting
word of warning, i thought it was a great idea to get all the windows bar the windscreen tinted by a professional. He did a great job but not only did it look cheap, I kept mis-judging distances of oncoming traffic because of the dark windows. I took it all off after a couple of days bar the rear window, that does look sweet and you can't see anything out of it anyway.

Vote a Vehicle off the Road Poll.
old people for me. 30-40mph for 30 miles on a bendy road in good conditions just wrecks my head. Don't want to overtake and scare them, so just sit back and relax. Don't get me wrong, I love and respect the older generation but as soon as it's time for your bus pass, your driving licence should go too. :(

i just got a puppy
Sorry to be morbid here but I ran over and killed our family pet yesterday at lunchtime. Lovely border collie 6 months old. Came home for lunch , pulled onto the drive and felt the car go over a soft bump. It was a freak thing, the poor little fella must have come across the garden excited and ran straight under the wheels. I never saw him. He was quite a big pup so i still can't figure out how it happened. Took some time to console the kids but i feel like right b***D. i wouldn't mind but i'm not a dog lover, he was really for the mrs. and kids but i really liked this little fella and he felt the same , would follow me everywhere and ignore everyone else!! Wish I had been driving my van and not the z i surely would've seen him.

just some questions...nothing vicious!
This is the 4th zed i've owned and none of them have ever showed signs of rust. All were jap imports though, so i can't comment on the UK cars. As Legrath said age is catching up with this generation of z. Have to say it hasn't been a problem , still looks and performs brilliantly for a 16 year old car.

rough value of this Z ??
looks like a very good buy from here! Hope she works out sweet for you :)

strange
nice to know we're missed eh tulip?Lol! still here Adam, just had a hectic year that's all. Sitting at a pc getting fat again is my new years resolution though! I've driven my little honey about 5 times in the last 3 months. She still looks and sounds great though , have to take her out on a big spin soon. Even considered selling selling up a while back, glad I didn't...Just converted my attic to a big boys room, music , cinema projector, ......problem is the kids have taken it over. So now I come up here late at night and stick on the few tunes . Hopefully we'll get another Irish meet going for the summer, whadya say Trish? Women are better at these organisation skills :nelson:

Targa / bird shite
No birds, but have left the targas off overnight several times and got bits of trees, spiders webs, flies, ants ,moths, daddy long legs and rain. kinda gives the interior a nice earthy aroma.

I'll swap my Zed for a Jupiter 8
LOl wish i had a sound card in my computer  But the you would only have to listen to Michael jackson's Thriller album, "relax" by frankie goes to hollywood, Rio by Duran Duran, Howard Jones, the list goes on and on. And Vinnie, appreciate the advice but I am not getting involved in computers for making music. Very tempting but I made my mind up ages ago. Takes spontanaiety out of the whole thing. For example I purchased a new roland Juno D few months back, which has FM samples of the old Juno and Jupiters on it. When I play a sampled synth lead from the Juno D and compare it to my REAL Juno 6 the difference is astonishing. Roland make crap nowadays. Matter of fact I sample my vintage analogue Juno 6 directly to my Akai sampler and it sounds ten times better without the multimillion equipment roland has. BTW my setup is Ensoniq ESQ-1 ( my first synth) Korg x5 (still has its uses) Yamaha V-50 (Bit tricky with midi but sounds great with a few tweaks) Roland Juno D ( some great trancy stuff and it has twiddly knobs) Akai s2000 sampler (Great machine, very clean and precise) Roland JUNO 6 ( Analogue knob twiddling slider pushing phat rich synth heaven    ) Anyway back on topic, my offer still stands. And Trish, no I cant sing and I completely lack talent, but when I want something I HAVE to have it!

I'll swap my Zed for a Jupiter 8
Hi, not been around for a while for various reasons I won't go into and bore you with but hope everyone's keeping well. :) However I am a man on a mission. I know a lot of you keyboard Wizards are fantastic at finding things. So here's the deal. I will gladly straight swap my pride and joy for a roland Jupiter8 Vintage synth. Can't tell you how much I desire this piece of musical history. Possibly in someones attic somewhere but I'll never know. Has to be a minter. This might seem strange but possibly Viniboy or PK 1 will understand my fetish! I'm not joking either. These can sell for between 1-3k when they come on the market and my car is worth a lot more but I'm willing to take the loss. And yes I have been drinking but in a sound state of mind. It is the only thing I would give up my little honey for. See pic.
