  1. Sorted! cheers, relay, and every earth i could find after stripping out seats and trim checked out OK, so went back to the start with fuses. The bottom row to the far left was blown, don't understand because I triple checked every one of them last night . But I don't care now i've got my sounds back! Thanks for the advice everyone
  2. Thanks, i've checked that, and the little fans are working . I've now taken the rear seats out to get to the relay , which i think might be the problem. A while back i blew the radio fuse and replaced it with a 20 amp fuse because of the extra load with the amp/stereo exc. It might be too high, because that didn't blow but maybe something else did. I've checked all fuses in the engine bay everything ok there. How do I check if the relay is blown? I don't want to order one and find it's not the problem
  3. If you put a dark tint on just the rear window, it darkens the rest of the windows because of the light reduction. IMHO it's the best way of subtle tinting. and you won't look like the local drug dealer/ gangster/ pimp :D
  4. yes, we did that earlier. i've just found this on a search but there was no outcome to it? It describes my problem exactly. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=29188&highlight=stereo+fuses And my fooking spine is in bits from that STTOOOPID place for a fusebox :mac1:
  5. OK just checked its not any of those fuses    i've gone behind the stereo facia, everything is OK there too Any suggestions?
  6. i've blown the radio fuse. Which is fine, i've done it loads of times and got down under the dash and changed it happy days. this time it's weird. Because I can never remember exactly which one it is, i've gone through them all and none are blown. I've double checked. gave up a while ago but on the way home noticed the clock and door open warning light are flashing on and off (slowly and kind of dimly). also, there is a buzzing noise coming from the map reading light cluster.(which are not working either.) when ignition is on From this picture could someone identify the stereo/clock/interior lights fuse (eg. 2nd row down 5th from the right etc.) At least then I can test the plug itself to see if there is power coming in there. I'm pretty sure there is no other fuse box in the car to to check but maybe some-one here might correct me? Cheers
  7. lol yep but not so big . he has just cut into the trim which i don't want to. The other pic is much tidier. if there is a way of getting bass into the holes behind the trim, screw directly to the body i think would be better.
  8. When you remove the the trim panels either side of the rear seat there are two square shaped holes roughly 5x4 cut into the shell. there seems to be a decent bit of room behind them for acoustics. I was finishing my retrim yesterday and starting to get ideas of what type of speaker i could fit in there. Has anyone tried it and with what results? Neither the front nor rear stock speaker setup provide decent bass, no matter what type of speakers you put in. I was thinking of putting bass speakers in there, so i wouldnt have to resort to cutting the trim panels . i've got decent components in the front, jbl's in the rear and a very good pioneer head unit. I have a bass tube and amp in the boot to compensate, but hate the look of it. If there was a way of getting a deep bass into the z without a bootbuild i'd love to hear of it Cheers
  9. Is it a clifford alarm? sorry i can't be of help but a z i bought a few years ago had a clifford alarm and caused the most annoying things just like you describe. never had the ABS light come on though
  10. heres mine ;) biast yes , but it does capture the z rear 3 quarter shape really well. the angle is perfect, the colour is the sweetest, and it's owner is the proudest mama you've ever met :D
  11. start at the top remove the plastic circle, carefully remove screw which is at an upward 45 degree angle. then come to the other side and remove the seatbelt bolt. that peice should snap out then giving you access to the screw for the main peice. Fairly straightforward from there, just take your time, and follow the manual you have.best of luck!
  12. Those lovely camera filters they use on Top Gear can make a fiat punto look exciting so know where your coming from. Still love to see one in the flesh, pity you didn't get a pic
  13. If for any reason your door cards need to be removed at a bodyshop or audio shop etc. DO IT YOURSELF!!!!!!! I was reminded of this while retrimming at the weekend. i found the top peice which is parallel to the window had been pulled off, breaking the small screw housing at the very top on each side, and siliconed back together. there was more surprises too.the clips at the bottom were in shit, screws and screw covers were missing. This really pisses me off. It's not rocket science but because of the unique door design you should go in there with your tools and do it yourself. TBH I meant to post this ages ago since i had it back from the bodyshop. Obviously loads of people on here have done it many times, but this should be a help for newbies or anyone who hasn't done it before. as I said it's not complicated, just take your time, it's YOUR car, some people working in garages don't give a shite about it , get frustrated and get rough.
  14. 99 spec spoiler shouldn't be a big deal for a bodyshop, 99 spec front is bolt on , straight forward, it's also eurethane so no worry's about cracking or breaking it when parking ;) If you are fitting the rear spoiler yourself, make sure it's positioned absolutely perfect. Theres a hairsbreadth between boot and spoiler at the edges. Mine started to dig into the boot after 6 months and grinded the paintwork so had to have it "joined" to the boot right at the tips.
  15. gunmetal grey was my first z, and i remember saying this car doesn't need a flash colour. I still believe that. Hope you stick with your original colour , or close to it. There are georgeous metallic greys and blacks out their now. There are exceptions , some members on here have been brave and pulled it off with great results. one thing , the grass is always greener ..... i want pearl white, bet if i got it i'd want pearl black after a year or two! best of luck with the job
  16. That looks waaaay to nice to break bud, hope you find a good home for it. lol@ your old sig , i knew there was something missing around here!
  17. glad to hear it's back in one peice. Lent mine to my sister in law one evening last summer to get home cos she couldn't get a taxi She reversed it onto a high pavement, it got stuck, drove forward and ripped my lovely wings west rear bumper, and more. just goes to show , she only drove 3 feet. learnt my lesson ;)
  18. happy birthday to you !:nana2:
  19. yep, had a good spin today and does run a lot sweeter, more responsive for sure. Doesn't cold damp weather have the same effect?
  20. i see 2 '97's but no '99
  21. They're getting away with it every year, cos no-one does fook all about it. I refuse to go to tesco's or any other shop that is displaying Christmas until december. But I'm not succeeding because smaller shops are now jumping on the bandwagon. it's bad now, just wait till halloween is over, it makes me sick to my stomach TBH Who are these greedy marketing *******s? I'd love to walk in on a "lets kill Christmas again this year" board meeting and f*ck every one of the brainwashed fookers through a plate glass window onto the street 150ft below ,it's all they deserve  In case you think i'm going overboard, go to a family that's taking out loans in october to cover Christmas and all it's "trimmings" just to please the kids, majority of whom don't give two sh*ts, it's completely normal to them. Season of goodwill my arse, season of greed, that's what we've all made it
  22. I agree but trishes old 17's suited her car so well,I drove behind it on a couple of occasions , they really looked made for it I would go for the same size.
  23. welcome fella, if your not into depriciating cars then suggest you emigrate lol, but seriously hope you find a nice example. Why are z's so cheap? whish I knew, but it doesn't matter, I think slick pete used to have a sig "beware those who know the price of everything and the value of nothing" Z's are a drivers car, they put smiles on peoples faces simple as that
