  1. after years of willing K12's and P32l's to shut the God-damn £uck up evertime I got in/ got out/ left the handbrake on or off/left the keys in or near/ lights on or dipped/door open door or tailgate ajar/boot cover not in-place/fuel low/keys still in ignition/MIL lamps kicking in/tyre pressure to high...(irriatating to the hole if this is your job, I assure) I can only say... you sure it isnt an after market alarm loosing its senses? hahahahahaha but best if luck.. I used to kinda know someone called Mark Derby...... real scared of spiders too.
  2. whilst I laugh at the fimiliarity, I wince at some old memories. Until you are fully at home with the vehicle and the ramp you dont have the bravado to just raise the damn car how you think. (I suspect most Kwik shit fitters are young & National Tired cos was out late last night) Please rememeber that is it is better that they didn't. Or would you rather they practiced on yours. but I do LIKE that you are willling to do it your self. All you need is a straight stretch of flatness. You can learn this skill quickly and always make minor adjustments a week later. 1-First off make sure you can release the nuts on the rods 2- drive off and HANDBRAKE to a halt 3- a plank of wood will do, are the wheels flaring? (bad)or slightly pointing to centre..good.. (judge against rear wheels for this)half a turn of the nut is a good gauge of adjustment. 4- is the steering wheel straight? 5-getting no where.. you have a crashed car and need new parts if cannnot live with the left steering. THATS A SHORT VERSION BUT i SAY GO LEARN. YOU WONT REGRET IT.!!! NB: there is a thread about adjustable parts to replace/stop steering askewness. some weathered soul may recall it.
  3. Funny. Maybe not, but it has character!. also simple, informative and instructive with safety in mind. Brilliant...... Ok so people imagined a 'tone' that came with it but thats just guessing. Everyones a critic, aye! You're fine with me fella. Looking forward to a colourful first thread.
  4. your 'cat' is a log sized ceramic-like brittle web, plated in very strange/precious and expensive metals. It evens sounds like we should leave it be. They can collapse shortly after the most exploritary of stabs. Neat petrol slowly disolves them thru time. Just about the only thing you can do is damage them.
  5. thought it might have been a 'looks' thing :) orig nuts are horrid arn't they. Quick story- I had a car with placcy hub caps that retained purely aesthetic & fake wheels nuts. Kid at the tyre specialist took an air gun to them, all four wheels, then came and asked how to get the now chewed-up hub caps off. hahahahaha. fingers crossed your ali nuts survive, there's some monkeys out there.
  6. you could make them out of wet paper and butter if the nuts could be torqued to 110nm. so The Ali ones could be fine. But they really mean Ali-alloy. and being an alloy it can be made of a thousand things. So get the grade there are made from and do some home work. easy. more interestingly- why would you bother? the weight saving/ mass inertia/cost and unsprung weight could could be more effectively gained/lost by trimming the unswept circumference of your brake disks. I suspect you have seen some and think 'hey why not-gotta spend money on something' go to the pub instead. buy a pint. buy someone else a pint. in the middle of the afternoon. have a chat. it can be something to tell ya friends about. other than... I've got expensive wheel nuts.
  7. 'The wife rings the branch while I look for the spare' & ' I find as the car is a sport model it doesn't carry a spare only a bose subwoofer in the boot.' no harm meant. this just tickled me so much. :-)
  8. I know I am a skeptical waste of space .. but does Paul C actually work for Quidco? no drama if you do. I just think it should be declared. PS. I like the effort you have out into ya Zed ,Paul. I strangely think Blue is best!!!
  9. OK so I am a bit lost here. Forgetting who is Zooming who(sorry, but people can be shits); a day pass for a tenner or 25 for two days...?tenting is self catering everywhere yes good, but showers, shop? web site mentions no tents or field. what do ya know?
  10. PS. just for perspective a footie pitch is 340m roughly(they can vary so much!!!) round. 1 mile = 1 609.344 metres so 2414m is ya target, thats 7 laps. all the best.
  11. you seem clued in enough. you do. I can offer this to build up your heart strength and it helps with acid/oxygen degrogation. It helps the mind deal with the want to give up/stop and just walk for a bit. repeat this for tooo long a period of time you will grow fast twitch muscles. Its just a good starter. a booster. #find a footy pitch. walk the length of the side line. 20 yards before the corner be jogging. after the corner be running at 40% of your max speed(long strides)along the width of the pitch.at the next corner be running 90%(90% of your fastest sprinting speed) for the whole length of the pitch. after the third corner drop to 40% speed again(long strides). after the fourth corner of the pitch walk....Ad nauseam. [its not a slow up and down, its four stages.] this is your first 3 weeks. never 2 days in a row.
  12. ooops.OK I get the better picture now. So marathons arnt your thing. Me neither! I'd still phone and ask tho. A question and a chat costs nothing. ( being Her/a local gym instructor/ a 'proper' running shop specialist) we cant take all day discussing your diet/ weight/age of your trainers on here. butTBH 8.5 isnt pushing it unless your old???? hehehe. Best of luck. Maybe organise a race someday?????
  13. http://helenmulhallpt.sports.officelive.com/default.aspx this Girl has run every marathon in the world and runs various distance, even cross country. Her life is running. You could try contacting her, perhaps.
  14. All for it, Daffy. I keep my eyes open for a new thread. :)
  15. Rusty-sills could join in if he wants the pint I possibly owe him for past kindness offered!!
  16. ooh yeah. been polishing it too. Top idea Sir. we (me that is ) can trundle your way easily enough. Best make this quick Mr 'possibly for Sale'???? hehehe
  17. additional: the outer water seal will easily pull out(OK with care and attention, lets not be a bull in said china shop) leaving approx a 10mm gap between glass and tail on exterior. Start peel in top corners from under the plastic corner caps. apply wd40 or silcon spray as you work. do not tear it!!!! and kneed it back into place with fingers(more lube again) do not stretch during refit as it will just settle how it chooses to in a few days anyway. I think this might be all that is required really. forget removing glass.
  18. I am a certifed expert at this now!!!! forget cheese wire (or try it and get annoyed at how you scrap loads of paint of ya car) Get ya self a carving knife - thin enought to flex alittle..and two hours. The bonding is a 16mm wide strip so it takes two or three scores to get thru. Score/slice and slit do not saw. but its easy enough. In the corners are plastic height setting pads. Your knife will go thru these. (cheese wire will not) be persistant. they are the hardest part. Start in the centres and work to the corners.Very important Knife gets stuck any other way. the glass will flex to so don't panic to much. and its very very light.. its your tailgate metal that weighs 30 kg on its own.
  19. I'm IMPRESSED! Mr TMTTPub. Good work citizen! :batman:
  20. Damn,we've got to be able to solve this between us. so no up and down...Does it still go right to left? :) sorry-couldn't stop myself.
  21. You lot are great. Allways. If you ever get the chance to pop round Tompei's house, do it. His family are generous with their cutlery and misc items, & very understanding to the wims of others. Plus perhaps his Dad will regale stories about Ulrika. Thx Tom. Top 'spot' concerning the Doors. I'm impressed. Dukes of Hazzard it was.
  22. Ok the way i see it, concerning the ducting and want for cool air, would be A- provide a flow of air via a tube from bumper or deflector inside nose panel to direct cool air behind the FMIC..B- shield the filter so the air that it does feed on in not direct from the 'hot' intercooler. But technically (and I do have some know how with this, but no expert sadly) it is all hokum. An answer is hard to keep short but if you will.. A turbo blows to increase pressure. this is hindered by throat sizes or inside diameters. if your ducts from filter are significantly bigger than the spigots on your intercooler you are fine with warm, even hot air. and if you look they are indeed so. because they are large dia the air moves slowly so any supplied cold air would only soak and warm up on route, unless you changed to smaller ducts to speed up air current. hope thats some help to you.
  23. Cheers for the offer then Rusty, but I'm gunna go to buy one. Really think it was great of you to try and help out. Another time maybe. And also thx Custom Exotics. I'm off to Essex to buy one. I've started organise this so wouldn't feel right dumping it. Its all good.
  24. Due to loathing the noise my 'other' car makes I'm clawing to get back on the road. Any news your rear Rusty? thought I'd roll this dice one more time. I'm about to tell Tomp I'm gunna drive the 150miles to take his. I'd do it OK but I'm exhausted just thinking about it. :)
  25. NO WAY would I give him the money back.. but I would take the time and find a garage that would fit the tyres to the wheels for the new owner. And then I probabaly find another one just to hammer a point home. For an hours hassle you get to keep the cash/ a clear concience and the wheels are sorted. Go the Gonzo12c path.
