You still have to display it. If you don't you won't get a penalty from the dvla etc but a nasty policeman could give a £60 fine for not displaying it.

So I work in insurance (underwriting and now customer relations) and I'd tell you all your very silly if you don't declare all mod's, especially performance enhancing (this includes suspension, brakes etc as well as air filters, turbos and all that) and those that change the look in any way. If FJ are saying they don't need you to disclose some things I would recommend you make sure you call them and tell them so that you have the come back if there's a problem. That way it is the businesses choice not to take note or take in to account any mods. Usually, if a company would have covered a car if the mods were disclosed they will offer to rectify the policy (charge you more and put any terms on the policy that would have been there had they been aware of all the info). If they wouldn't have covered it then the policy will probably be declared void for non disclosure or mis-representation of the material facts. When I was talking to fj in the past they pretty much told me the wheels/body kit had to be within a percentage threshold of the cars value.
