Gadget location
if you have a spare ice slot there are some nice flip lid cubby hole efforts at zcentre they would do to fit the gadgets and hide them out of ther way when not in use Steve

Kerb Monster
well buddy it is well worth buying back for scrap value however if it has been officially written off you may have to re register it as a Q plate ............the easy fix is to get the diff and rear axle from a NA as the final drive is better giving much better acceleration at the cost of a little top end but be honest do you normally go past 165 mph dissconnect the hicas and do without , see what is available as spare parts or cars breaking for spares for the bits you need , check the chassis assembly isnt out of whack either as that wil be costly to be re jigged, if you need a wheel i have just replaced the Jap inport stock items with 19" dare alloys so i could get you away with that aspect of it good luck Steve

buying a 300zx
John, i have had a twin turbo for a few months now and every time i drive it i get a huge grin on my face watching mega expensive so called performance machinery dissapear in the rear view mirror every time i floor it .........they are an absolute hooligan of a car and they are first turn of the key reliable , they can potter around town at 30 no problem all day and then pick up their skirts and sprint to the horizon when needed parts to tune are relatively cheap except that two are normally required ( intercoolerS ) (turboS) (blow off valveS) gearboxes are normally bullet proof but i would recomend using a high grade racing gearbox oil it makes life so much easier on the quick down changes in a manual car go for it mate you will not regret it steve

oil pressure
cheers Danny , i was going to put an after market set of gauges in the lower ICE slot so i would imagine a new oil pressure gauge would come with its own calibrated sender unit ? maybe im wrong but thanks for the info i can rest easier now
-
oil pressure
thanks people , i was about to break out in a cold sweat at the prospect of having to rebuild the engine

oil pressure
i know the oil pressure gauge and boost gauge and temp gauge are not the most accurate instruments in the world but when i start my zed ( manual jap TT) the oil pressure is strong when the engine gets up to temp and im ticking over the pressure is nearly off the bottom of the scale , levels and oil condition seem fine when on boost or revving, then the oil pressure comes up to strong again , is this normal that the oil pressure drops right off at tickover when up to temp ?? or is there something sinister going on under the bonnet steve

Silver faced indiglo dials
Vijay , they look good . i like the Z logo , how much do they run to for a set ?? are the gauges a hard job to remove to do the dial replacement ?? ive never ripped the dash apart before steve

Stu, my knob was very tatty ..fnarkk fnarkk the end was all frayed phwooor .....it was rough to the touch .......whhhooooo so i popped into motor world The new one in morecambe town center where one stop DIY shop is and fireplace world is and i bought a nice new leather covered one with a red metal insert it looks very much like the standard design ...problem i had was the gear gaiter was not long enough to cover the naked shaft fnarrkk pwhoooar......simple remedy took off the old gaiter and used it as a template ( after un picking it ) to make a new one modified the template to make it longer and hey perfecto cost around 22quid but looks far better where in morecambe are you ?? im at heysham road and Kirbz is off oxcliffe road , Steve

boost and uneven running
Hi zevans the ride over might be a bit dodgy youre right , i used to work offshore morecambe bay on the gas rigs and i know it can get a little rough out there in the irish sea, still not a bad idea for a spring meet though
-
boost and uneven running
Cheers Kirbz i will be home for definate on the 4th December so i will contact you after that and we can meet up if your still up for it NW zx meet possibly in the making , how do you fancy a NW Zed meet on the isle of man ( no speed limits :hyper: and i could get some shiny bits off smithy at the same time ......:D

boost and uneven running
Kirbz, i understand what you say , but they have done a good job of it if i leave the boost alone at 12 psi ........too be honest i want to re sort the internals with new forged pistons rods and crank up the injection system ( always a limiting factor on power ) and then the higher boost should not be a problem, I am sure its a temperature of fuel/air mix problem / plugs so i will resolve the plugs problem , open to sugestions on plug types on this one !! at the moment as it left the garage the car was much much quicker with loads of tourque way down the rev range right up to the redline.......... its just me i want more speed they are keen to impress at Turbo boost and i would recomend them if anyone else in the area needs a re map ......inductor kit fitted ( top of the line blitzsonic )and re mapped for a tad under 700 quid. you are right they have worked on a lot of turbo diesels and well known for their quality of work on remapping those i have no complaints about them i just want more boost !

boost and uneven running
Hey up Kirbz, i have spoken to Andy in turboboost and he has assured me the fueling is ok and has been mapped properly , taking into account the new induction kit and free flow exhaust , i am thinking of fitting upgraded intercoolers GReddy , do you anything about them , they will set me back about 800 squidlys but may help if its a fuel temp prob thats causing the lumpy running at higher boost, steve
-
boost and uneven running
cheers Geoff no doubt when i get back from Kazakhstan the battery will be flat as a pancake anyway so i will give it a shot and disconnect it for an hour or so , i cleaned the throttle bodies last month before the induction kit was installed .......all seems fine at 12 psi but it will not run smoothly on higher boost at all .......tickover hunts and there is very un even response from the throttle and even under normal driving the car seems very lumpy Steve
-
boost and uneven running
just had the car set up at Turbo boost in lancaster they seem to think the exhaust is restrictive ..its a powerflow straight through system de catted so i cant see that , the car runs fine when i wellie it on the test track !!! its just been set up with the exhaust and induction kit taken into account so i dont think its air fuel mix , could be turbos the cars 12 year old so they may be on the way out rear oil seal problems with decatted exhaust springs to mind !! anyway i have a few grand to throw at it over the winter months so maybe some of smithys spool up roller bearing tubs are on the cards ( nice ice install by the way i checked out your web site ) check the web site of turboboost and under ECU upgrade petrol turbo and 300zx you will see my car not as quick as yours and i need to get those dreadfull graphics off the sides but shes not a bad old girl. got ta dash works over its beer o clock steve
