What did you do to your zed today?
Well Im ready for tomorro now..... Track day rear tyres back on. All wheel nuts torqued. Oil and brake fluid topped up. Water checked n OK.Likewise powersteering fluid. Washed... but not polished... cant polish turds Im told.:whistling: As the passengers will be non helmeted I added some padding to the roll cage.Fans of my orange roof please note the matching colour scheme:innocent: They will all have signed a disclaimer about taking part but better to try and protect them as much as possible.:thumbup1: I will be ensuring they all understand how the harness fits and that they have their feet firmly on the rest. If this year is like last I will have a few kids/youngsters on board so the adjustable rails on the seat ensure I can get them safely wedged in. 300ZX Motorsport banner loaded too. Just need a fill up of VPower to complete the job. Looking forward to some fun track action now. Im not sure how busy/popular I will be. There are more track cars than last year... but Im guessing there are more guests too.

Manual conversion clutch pedal too soft
got one of these ordered should be here on tuesday http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FAIJLPC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A36OJLYJM7N41A Well thats even cheaper. Putting new rubber seals in to old metal bores that have had lots of use and may be worn never seemed like a job I was going feel 100% confident with. IMO everything needs to be 100% especially when we are asking the cylinders to exert a lot more pressure shifting aftermarket/stronger clutches

Why dont you just buy a new cylinder to rule out any problem with your existing set up. They are only £35 ish.... No need to faff about trying to revive old tired components at that kind of money http://www.ebay.com/itm/Clutch-Master-Cylinder-Dorman-CM39828-fits-90-91-Nissan-300ZX-/311232868493?fits=Model%3A300ZX&hash=item4876ecb08d&vxp=mtr

Ten Of The Best! TOTB14: 25-26th July 2015
I need an assistant to collect time slips so I dont lose places stopping to get them myself when Im on track. Particularly at the handling course.

Anyone bought one of these? Any good?
the free delivery will cost the supplier about a fiver on a contract courier deal. that leaves £20 for the mats. Look in Lidl. Aldi or Poundstretcher to see the type of mats you can get for £20. If thats what you want then these will no doubt be similar in quality.

Tracking
Could be on the tension rod on the side thats out.? Consistent all round excess neg camber might be due to the car being lowered? difficult to know without seeing the car.

Tracking
You need to take comments by commercial outfits with a pinch of salt really. They said "way out" so when they adjust it you will be impressed. The guys who did mine said worse... "Country mile out mate" .. to which I replied...."I know thats why Im here for you to fix it" Going back to your figures... They have adjusted the settings that are adjustable on your stock suspension to within tolerances. Thats why some of the figures have gone from red to green. With stock tension rods you cant alter the castor and you do have a significant difference L to R. Well over 2 degreees. You are running over a degree more camber at the front than Nissan recomends in the chart Gio has posted but as he has already said that is non adjustable on stock arms. So IMO they have done a decent job as far as they can. Many cars including the 300ZX are quite sensitive to small changes/faults in suspension settings which is why some members(me included) run fully adjustable after market suspension so we can each set our cars to our personal use/preferences. We will not all run the same settings so the debate can be endless.... No shame in not knowing but it can be quite rewarding to learn a little about it. Plenty of good info to be found on Internet or books on the subject. The further bonus of the knowledge is you can tell operators the setting you want . All IMHO of course.

Clutch slipping
If you now have the correct length rod in the slave and have adjusted the pedal upwards to give a little free play before pressing it down engages the release bearing then that eliminates any holding off of the cover plate by the hydraulics. As far as I can see the problem now lies with the clutch /release carrier/bearing inside the bellhousing

Going back to S1 PTU - for a while
Not only is the adaptor loom "ugly" it introduces a whole new set of connectors to go green/corroded! My spare car still has a S1 on it. My track car has ser2 with a later loom.

Richmond diff gears???
At this stage all i want to know is.....................

Richmond diff gears???
The Richmond site shows a 3.7 as well as a 4.1 . Its the availability of a new/stronger 3.7 ratio that Im looking for? Actual price not of primary importance . In other words my question really is.... "Can you buy an uprated 3.7 crown wheel and pinion set for the TT diff??" And if so who does it???
-
Richmond diff gears???
I have been looking at the Richmond web site. The only reference to a Nissan product I can see is one for a Titan?? Is this the one that also fits in the Z32 TT diff?? This....................http://www.richmondgear.com/pdf/Richmond_Catalog_Section1.pdf#page=35

York Raceway. Jul 4th + 5th
I didnt take the camera this time. I had to take one of my own car last time so i seemed a pointless exercise. 14.8sec and 14.9sec were the two ETs on clean runs. My terminal speed is always beteen 90 and 92 mph and today was no exception. I have hit 94mph on odd runs but that needs to be early in the season on a cool crisp day with high air density and a good prepped track. July no good for that. I am in general a competent and consistent runner so not much variation .Todays "screw ups " to start the day were down to me being too hyped up and letting thoughts of a personal best get in the way of good launch technique. The car will simply not go any faster at the power level and that is verified by putting my figures in to a "drag calculator" Terminal speed is always a good indicator of engine power if you work the figures back from it. I have used it in the past too disprove the "b*llox" often talked by owners about the power their cars make. (I dont mean on this forum just in general) I enjoy the day out doing 1/4miles but equally what fascinates me is the science and technique that underpins it all and especially as far as NA engines are concened.

York Raceway. Jul 4th + 5th
I decided Sunday was a better day weatherwise to go..............................so I did. No other 300s of course but no matter a good day out. The car was running well but was let down by the driver initially. First run I ran a red light... my first for a very long time.:whistling: Second run I didnt grab 2nd gear in time so the Emerald started to cut . Third run I didnt get the front brakes fully locked on for burnout so I slipped forward several metres....and got a reprimand from the chief starter. By the fourth run I had regrouped and pulled a clean run at 14.9:yes: Fifth run was a slight improvement to 14.8. By this time it was 2.00pm. I was tiring and the air temp and humidity were rising so I made the call to head for home. All in all an entertaing day which served to remind me that even after dozens of 1/4mile runs over the past years it remains an elusive disipline to get right on the day. It always makes me smile when I hear the "experts" in the pub or on the internet say ..."how difficult can that be mate its only 1/4mile and there are no bends...." Yeah right!!! TOTB... bring it on!!!

What did you do to your zed today?
Took my track tyres off the rear and put the Mickey Thompsons on ready for a trip to York Raceway on Sunday. Should have gone today but got involved in moving a mate's car instead.:whistling: Topped up the oil and shot down the bypass to buy some Shell V power. Left in on the road tonite(dont tell the insurance!!!) so I dont wake everyone at 7.00am on a Sunday:scared:
