Scuttle panels - finally
If you are using crappy rattle cans filled with thin paint then the minimum finish will be in 400. 500/600 would be better. IMO

brake disk removal.
????????????????????? You can change pads on the 350Z calipers without removing them. On a correct 350Z install you should have two bolts. Maybe some modifying/bodging has taken place in the past on your set up. Pics would help

I have been to Trax for the past 3 years and thoroughly enjoy it. Buying used shocks.... Buyer beware!
Pretty much so. One functions correctly all the way down and back up on rebound. The other has very little resistance left although externally there are no signs of it leaking When they were assembled with springs it was impossible to tell whether they were working or not which is the point im making. If you are buying used shock n spring combos you have no idea how good or otherwise they are. Caveat emptor. I didnt buy these on their own so im not looking for a refund etc of a seller ...they came off a breaker I had a couple of years ago ...only got round to checking them today:thumbdown: both fronts are OK.

Buying used shocks.... Buyer beware!
I have just stripped the springs(Eibach lowering ones) off these two Tociko Illumina rear shocks. There is a huge difference between them. Can anyone tell me what that difference is????

What did you do to your zed today?
Its a long time since I did two days together on my slicktop but since the weather here was warm n sunny all day I carried on with some more tasks. Finally got round to fitting the half rear hoop i got last year from Boomin33. I also put back the headlining before fitting the cage. A few more bolts to fit tomorrow and its in!!!

What did you do to your zed today?
Having sat outside neglected all winter today was warm enough to give it a wash n polish. Its still scruffy but at least its clean and slightly shiny scruffy. I fitted a passenger footrest as I have the Cobra Monaco seat mounted well back out of my line of sight. Ever since i fitted the old style Z1 throttle bodies the tickover has been too high. The quality and operation is pretty poor and on investigation there is play on one linkage. It might be a worn/weak return spring as my external return spring bodge seems to have improved matters!!!:scared: I also found two bolts on the rhs front tension rod not fully tight which was causing a slight click/clunk on sharp braking. A quick trip down the bypass late afternoon showed all to be much better than before. I just need to get more seat time in it now The greyhound decided to come out and join me but it proved impossible to get him to do anything to help!!!

What did you do to your zed today?
Took the slicktop out today for a short 15 mile blast in an attempt to find the cause of the small clunk coming from the front right wheel area. I had already had the wheel off to check the usual suspects.. bottom ball joint, top arm. track rod end and rose joint on the tension rod. All to no avail. After todays run I rechecked it all and found the bolts holding the tension rod to the bottom arm were not 100% tight. A trial test on my drive tells me this was the cause. It needs a more severe road test to fully check. My new Corbeau seat is really supportive and comfortable. Im thinking a few runs at York raceway over Easter weekend might be on the cards:yes:

Illuminated door sills
I dont like them at all........................ they all look so 20th century. Light up dayglo glittery tat ... like the rear panels and side windows. Suitable for kruises and Macdonalds car park meets only. IMO of course:biggrin:

New Year....New Project(non Zed)
Its small and fairly simple so work so far has been straightforward.. We have a fully built forged 2.0L "Redtop" vauxhall engine sat under my bench waiting to go in. We are using a pair of 48 Dellorto sidedraft cabs....so kind of "old school" The plan is to get the guy who set up my rally 3.0l 240Z engine to get it all jetted and run in on his engine dyno before we install it Paul Exon at Exon Race engines...he does lots of these engines......http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCsQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fraceengine.co.uk%2F&ei=QHLaVLaKPMuNaIGigogB&usg=AFQjCNESp09_OQ0D2ajAnywOzXY9XauV8g&sig2=BeV2cRSdrzQgbuhV5iWiVw&bvm=bv.85464276,d.d2s LOL!!!! All projects at my house are Maconald projects:biggrin:

Its a big task so far Im about 150hours into it. Enjoy the pics........
