York Raceway May Bank Holiday weekend.
There is a 2 day Drag race meet at York Raceway this weekend. RWYB action available on both days. York has a friendly and well organized event normally although the track surface is not anywhere as slick as Santa Pod. I thought I might take a trip. Weatherwise Monday is looking drier ATM. Ideal practise for TOTB. Meanwhile its time to get the Mickey Thompsons outta the shed and give them a reviving coat or two. They havnt been used since TOTB last year:scared: I know with my low power I dont really need them and especially on the "Shell Grip" launch at York but they are good fun to use and can handle all the abuse I can throw at them. There isnt normally another 300 to be seen there but you are welcome to join me if you just want a fun day out.:thumbup1:

Targa and glass query

Targa and glass query
SWB targas are smaller than LWB. Blue tint SWB glass is fairly rare in this country being mainly on ser 4 cars ie from 95 onwards. A few early series 1 cars in blue or silver paint may have had it.

JDM North Track Attack 7th June
There probably wont be many even on the day as most 300s are "in build" or broken down or their owners are to busy polishing them to have time to drive them:innocent: Not a problem for me .......I have just paid entry and track time. There will probably be the ability to book more time out on track on the day. Its an open format. Just queue up to go out when you are ready. Somebody has put an in car vid on the faceboook page. It looks like a tight n twisty little track They dont allow many cars out at a time so ideal for anyone thinking about a first time on track. Speeds dont look high either so you wont be embarrassed by cars overtaking you at warp speed 5!!! I look forward to catching up with you on the day Ian

Help, MOT fail
In the UK ANY car from Jul 95 onwards has to have a cat test regardless of whether its on the data base or not. Cars up to June 95 that are not on the database can have a non cat test I have a printed copy of an old thread on this very subject... I think it might have been by Paul C???

chosen my seats.
75mm and 5 point is more than enough for amateurs like us As you know from looking in my car at Japfest my 5 point is effectively 4 point as far a mounting points go. Think carefully about whether you want to go for a multipoint release buckle or a normal road type buckle. Doing up a race type buckle every time you drive anywhere is a royal pain hence my choice of conventonal road buckle.

Purple harness= gay!:whistling: So black is best. Seats??? black is best. When it comes to motorsport interiors black is best!

JDM North Track Attack 7th June
Thats an interesting looking event Ian. Looking at the track layouts and its more common use as a kart track it could be a useful practise venue/event for the handling course at TOTB Let me get Japfest outta the way first before i commit myself. Have you ever been to the venue?? Has anyone else?? Is it pretty narrow/twisty?? Can you pass other cars on track??

Japfest Preparatons.
Sun 10th May. My buddy Steve came over and spent an hour or so making some minor adjustments to the mapping as I drove up and down the A610 and also slowly on a local indust estate. Some improvement in the Z1 throttle bodies and linkage meant that tickover and light throttle settings on take off and crawling in (simulated) traffic needed adjustment. The main power settings are all fine from the original power map that Noel did. Tues 12 May. My carbon fibre bonnet had lots of horrible white patches where the coating had oxidised. I wet flatted it all over with 600 grade and hit it with two coats of 2K laquer. Its not perfect but it looks 100% better than it was I think.. You can see by the reflections what a lovely sunny day its been here Just need to clean n polish tomorro and check fluids n pressure etc. Im looking forward to the event now. It will be interesting to see how many/few 300ZXs turn up:innocent: And more interesting to see how few actually get out on track?? Where are all the big build big bhp cars????

first time 300zx z31 owner
You might do better on Zclub.net looking for parts etc as this is 99% a Z32 forum not a Z31 forum.. The Z31 has its own section on Zclub.net There are however a few members on here who own Z31s The facelift Z31 is fast becoming a very rare car in the UK . I wish you good luck in getting it restored back to full health. Put some pics up on here tho as generally we are a nice bunch of people with a love of most things automotive:thumbup1:

General Election
I will be exercising my right NOT to vote. In conjunction with around 1/3 of the eligible population. Its not apathy in my case (or Russell B) I simply dont want to be involved.

Diff output shaft???????
I have just been trying to help someone else with this.... Speaking to him a bit ago .....someone on another forum has come to the same answer as you. It is R200 based as he bought the diffs from me originally but not the output shafts. It all lives in a Scooby:thumbup1:

? 240z
Although the 280Z is a fine car in its own right .... its not a 240Z . Being a LHD and US only model severely limits appeal here in the UK. There are probably less than 10 in the country. Naturally for the scandanavian market LHD is a useful feature:thumbup1: But like the 260Z it will alway be less desirable (and hence less valuable) than an equivalent spec/condition 240Z.
