  1. :nana2::nana2::nana2: And i have the engine and box fitted (but not running)
  2. the old red slick top weighed 1320Kg at best. The new car will be comfortably under 1300. I was hoping to be nearer 1250kg. It will be going to the weighbridge once its built
  3. Expensive and a waste of time IMO. Very little actual Waxoyl in the tin cos its mainly full of thinner/propellant to make it spray. Much better to buy the pump + tin. Or even better the big can if you have the use of a compressor cos then you can buy a spray nozzle/trigger and use it with an empty schutz can
  4. IMO. You will be better off waiting until the parts are removed from the car and ready for immediate sale. Then take some nice clear pictures and put up a for sale thread or threads. Make sure you are ready to send and have got postage/courier prices arranged or list as "collect only " etc. If you genuinely dont know what to ask just put up a price you are happy with. if you dont get organized in advance you will waste hours on here with long rambling threads full of "first to fifteenth Dibs" *****cks from people who might or might not want the part and who might or might not actually have the money when eventually you have the part ready. And you might or might not find out later that the part mentioned was actually not quite as good as it looked on the car so you might have to.................................... etc etc Im sure you get the drift:lol:
  5. And it will probably make the oil even thicker. Which is exactly what you dont want.
  6. Im going to use Gulf Gear TX. Its a little thinner at 75W-80. This will mean shifting from cold will be easier and quicker. Its a good quality product that will still protect the teeth and bearing too under harsh use. Just got this from Guy at Opie oils. Good price too!!
  7. However you still end up with "mutton dressed as lamb"
  8. I was recently asked by a fellow member whether the stainless steel headers sold on Ebay and elsewhere would fit a RHD NA car. My answer was no based on fitting three sets to different cars myself. Also I know several NA owners/members on here have fitted them too and had to do the Lambda sensor re locate job. Since I am in the middle of fitting them / building my new car I was able to take a clear photo showing the original RHS Lambda boss fitting pointing straight at the steering column and thus preventing the sensor being fitted. Pic also shows my way round this..... weld in another boss. (I nearly didnt get this right... it could have been a few degrees different for perfect fit) Has anyone found a set of headers that dont need modding. apart from the ones Smithy/Leon at Alunox made. I would be particularly interested to hear from our newest trader on here ... Japspeed as I believe they actually sell headers.
  9. Yep. Im in agreement here. My plan is to fire the NOS through a WOT switch(wide open throttle) but to have a second "push n hold " switch on the steering wheel. So you only select NOS when you want, ie in third gear and the system only delivers it on a wide open throttle basis. So..... if you "lift" on the throttle the system shuts down OR if you take your thumb off the steering wheel buttom the system shuts down. Simples and safe!!! (I hope) im sure Mr dixon will be able to explain how the Emerald might do a better job than this similar to the AEM . No dont give up. My (limited) understanding is that you need to avoid having rough edges/spikes etc in the head so no hot spots can develop. So a nicely ported head will be fine. Maybe someone with more engine building skills/NOS experience can expand on this topic.
  10. Your dream..................................................... .............................my nightmare:wacko:
  11. I am planning on using direct port NOS (wet system). Ie one injector for each cylinder. I think its safer than having two injectors way back near the throttle bodies. i wasnt originally planning on having any control. just press n go. However John dixon is currently working with me on an Emerald management system for my NA and he has suggested using that to control the NOS. So long as your engine has been built from the word go to use NOS then I dont see what the problem is. However NOS takes no prisinors so it will quickly destroy any engine not up to scratch.
  12. thank you for your concern Bri.......................................... .........but I went out shopping today.:D And that nice man Mr brown sent me £250 recently to help pay for winter heating. So Ive bought a bottle of propane for the workshop heater:rolleyes:
  13. Yep you missed something.........watch again..... see him unscrew the big securing nut that holds the insert in the strut!!
  14. Good point Dave. I had forgotton about Russ's car. Its a nice example... albeit a bit plain for my liking.
  15. No mate. One of Mike Feeneys gang in Essex/London area has just had a 1998 R reg arrive from Japan late in 2009 The owner doesnt have an internet presense so you wont see it posted anywhere.
  16. ABS was option on NA. Std on TT.
  17. Pretty basic stuff really if you have a welder. chop saw and small angle cutter. i will be doing the same job on some 240Z suspension later this year. But I will get mine powder coated when done not rattle canned!
  18. They are all versin S I think from that oct date on cos they dropped the old one...according to Brian Longs book.:cool2:
  19. Of course they dont know anything about it ... its in a used car dealers showroom/lot. Loking at the pics it appears to be one of the first of the Version S 2 seaters which were introduced in Oct 94. So its a 95 spec car in effect. And with only 2 years use in the UK it should be as clean and rust free as mine underneath:biggrin: As you already said ...all it needs is a manual box and voila you have a really nice and quite rare little Zed.
  20. They are not O2 sensors. They are heat sensors and can be chopped off without any problems.
  21. I beg to differ.... you can go horribly wrong buying a 20 year old high mileage UK 300ZX. There was a guy on here recently who bought one for £2K with a possible engine prob. Ended up scrapping it without hardly driving it. I cant quite remember his name but he lived in scotland I think:confused1:
  22. Another 20 year old tired UK zed with a million miles on the clock.
