  1. Just had to top up my PS fluid again so I've resigned myslf to the idea of having a leak. So, is there a common failure and if so is it easy to fix, or am I going to have to start pulling induction pipes off to find it? TIA!
  2. Ouch, that's not a pleasant jo to do. (Unless you know the shortcut!!)
  3. Apparently Tesco is selling off their old stock of Mobil1 0w 40 for £16 for 5 litres. Would that be any good?
  4. Yeah, I watched Jeff do that with mine too. 3.5 litres doesn't sound like much at all. But if that's the general concensus form you guys, that'll do for me!! :thumbup1:

Hi Scabby, I'll be after a good set of black leather front seats. What you got? Also, if your dash pods work and all the bulb in the work I could be interested in them too.
  6. ....to put in a TT from dry? Going to do an oil change next week. 10w 40's the stuff yeah?
  7. I like it! It's a long way off finishing and some of the features could've been done better, (headlights), but all in all, I think it's a win. I guess it wouldn't hang about either!
  8. I'm not a great lover of SWBs or those wheels, (was gonna buy a pearl white one with them.), but gawd-damn that's a nice car! Your good health to drive and care for it!! :duffer:
  9. Ah! Didn't realise there were two, although that makes sense I guess. S'pose I'll need to get it in the air and check them out huh? Thanks!
  10. Hi, me again!! o/ Jeff says I need to replace my HICAS ball joints as there's quite a bit of play in the rear wheels. Are the Skyline ones the same and/or are the ones off eBay ok to use? Once I change them, will I need to have the alignment done? Thanks again!! ;)
  11. Thanks Gio, very helpful. It was nothing like the quantities in the video and as I say it seems to have cleared up now, so I'm less woried about it now tbh. I'll keep an eye on it. As I say, I might just change the oil in case the high temperature's broken down the oil in it as I seem to have a bit of a sticky follower intermittently which I didn't notice before.
  12. Smoke was grey. Not completely black nor white. It smelled like burning oil. Just checked the coolant level and it's where I'd expect it to be, so I'm still thinking it's been an air lock. Strange that it took so long to manifest itself though. I'll keep an eye out for that stuff and give it a shot, thanks.
  13. Thanks Craig!! :thumbup1: Will bear that in mind for future reference I was actually in Cheddington if you know where that is. Anyway, I'm kind'a suspecting an airlock. Even though Jeff went to great lengths to fill it properly, it's the only thing I can think of as there weren't any leaks or escaping steam apparent when I looked at it. My main concern was the smoke from the back end, but that seems to have cleared.
  14. Haven't had the chance yet, but I intend to check it at lunchtime. The smoke was coming from inside the exhaust, (burning oil?), not anywhere else, or is that not what you mean?
  15. Sorry, I feel like I'm hogging this forum, (I'm a little paranoid!), but......... Since having had the cambelt/thermostat/water pump done at Zedworld a little over a week ago, the car has behaved impecably. However on Friday I took it on a longish drive up to the in-laws in Buckinghamshire. Other than the slight vibration at motorway speeds the car was a joy to drive and made overtaking up the A420 and A41 past slower moving traffic a walk in the park. Big smiles!! :) Anyway, I got stuck in traffic in Aylesbury. It a very hot day and up till then I was over the moon that the temperature guage hadn't moved any further than the perfectly horizontal position it'd maintained since I bought the car. The temperature guage started to creep up and by the time I got properly moving again it was almost at the top of what I would call the safe zone on the guage. Once moving the needle crept back down again. The car never missed a beat though. Once at my destination, I let the car cool a bit and checked the coolant level. It took about 1.5 litres of water. Also apparent was smoke from the exhaust on idle. Having run the car a bit the smoke cleared up and again, the car behaved fine. I was scared that I'd damaged the tubs and/or busted a CHG, but it seems to be fine now having made the return trip last night albeit the outside temperature was much cooler. Do I need to worry about or check anything? I'm thinking I might change the oil as a matter of course just in case it's broken down a bit due to being exposed to higher temperature. Main concern is the smoke from the exhaust at idle really. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance, (again!)
  16. I've got a set of clocks I just haven't got round to fitting yet. Might take YTS up on his offer providing he's got the right unit.
  17. The top of the can was wet with oil. I reckon it's either evaporating past the lid or something else. There's no evidence of any other leakage.
  18. Fluid top up seems to have fixed it. Thanks guys!! :punk:
  19. So that's it then. I had the CC working perfectly at 45 mph this lunchtime! So, will UK clocks fix it or do I still need the ECU?
  20. Interesting. Maybe that's it!! as I've been trying to set it over 70!! :headvswal So would fitting uk clocks fix it or do I need to replace the ECU too? YTS Weasel, pencil my name on that ECU, I'll let you know either way, thanks.
  21. Aha! wouldn't have thought on that! All the cars I've worked on with CC had a feed off one brake pedal switch. Got loads to do tomorrow night!! (Meant to do some stuff tonight but got sidetracked! :-/ )
  22. My CC is tempramental. I can switch it on/off, but when I try to set it it will work the first time, but not again. Is it likely to be the switches on my wheel or is it more likely to be the ECU?
  23. So what about the steering wheel? Why would an aftermarket one make it fail?
  24. Standard steering wheel. Like to keep it to keep the CC working. I'll check the PS fluid tonight. thanks for that!! :thumbup1:
  25. It's taken to staying on after the car's been left for a while, say overnight, once the car's started. It goes off after a little while or after turning the wheel lock to lock and seems to behave itself after that. Cause for concern or not?
