This happened to me in my sprinter last winter, I came such a abrupt stop I thought if hit thr parked cars at first, very confusef when got out xand there was zero damage. Scarey

Mine has corrosion there but dosent leak, guess someone replaced it at some point.

probally beyond a rebuild if its that bad. compression test will reveil all, but as said the heads will be warped at least, due to the cast iron bottom end and aluminium heads cooling at different rates. pull it out and pop in a new one.

very very very common. pop the bonnet, on the plenum theres a plastic throttle cover under there at the front you will find a rubber pipe, with two jubeliees on it, thats probally the culprit. moving further back still under the cover is another one that goes from the fpr under the plenum that also is a common leaker. try investigating on a cold engine with a torch. soon as its warm the pipe expands and seals the leak. hth

ha tahst n/a s for you. all jokes aside though you can pick up alot of car for very little these days if your prepared to go for far eastern hatches, we picked my mrs car up for about 2k once we had had the cambelt and new shoes all round for her. it does 50 tio the gallon is a 55 reg had done less than 70k and is a cheap to insure and tax is £30 spot on for her.

i know the feeling, when my zed went id been doing 80 hour weeks for 13 weeks straight, all nights and evenings. i finished work at 6 instead of 7am and thought hey il take it for a blast while the roads are clear, water pump seized it parted with its coolant and that wa steh end of that engine. i had to sit there 500 metres or so from my house for two hours waiting for the tow truck, at a majour xroads taht got buiser and buiser didnt wanna just leave the car there alone. :(

Yeah the matrix hoses are tapered. One end larger than the other, have you tried flushing the block?

why didnt you just fix it :s takes like an hour to pull a capri gear box and whack it back in. done it a few times.

the zed is lovely, dont lower it any more its spot on. as for the sunny lol yeah ha. lov ethose wheel on the zed think they are about thje best one syou can fit, suit them so well.

try the heater matrix then i think you really should do a leak down just to put the whole h/g thing to rest one way or the other esp before you go tearing the block apart mate.

my advice, unless you can buy it for a few hundred and your prepared to do the work yourself walk away. that sounds like abasket case de turboed.... er yeah ok. buy one that is closer to what you want they are cheap enough as it is.

no header tank bud tahst why teh car must be bleed front end up in teh air, when i did mine i bled it on axel stabnds on teh front then drove round teh corner front end u hill to get out the last bits. the over flow on a zed goes to an expansion bottle down in the front passenger wing.

the loom should be floating about in the boot lid mine was.
