The New Car:D!
Hope not :(, he's had enough problems. fingers crossed its something like bad connections, plugs or maf etc that are easily fixed.

The New Car:D!
The pugs deed I killed it over a year ago  tbh Craig I would probably have done the same, when it comes to older 2nd hand cars you always seem to get better deals with larger bigger engined cars. At that sort of price range people normally want small economical motors.

The New Car:D!
:headvswal Now not only do you have a broke Z but a daily runner that aint running right......I'm gonna start calling you Pike......."stupid boy" glad you got something your happy with just hope you dont have to divert to much of you funds away from the Z to fix it!

hopefully going to buy this car today.
I havent had much dealings with the petrol pugs, but would be very wary if it hasent had a belt change, even if it is within the milage its gotta be well out with the time frame for requiring a change

hopefully going to buy this car today.
The Pug I had, was 2 1/2 years old and had 116k on the clock when I bought it. I had it for over 7 years and doubled the milage on it, so I wouldnt worry too much about the 115k

The cars im going to view. Help Please!
I would have said the Nissan, but the Pug looks pretty good, I have heard of complaints the headgaskets go on some of the diesels but cant remember which engine it was. My last daily runner was a 406 19TD that I managed to kill by towing the caravan, but id had it over 7years and it had over 230000 on the clock, so I have every respect for Peugeots. One other thing I have notice about Pugs about that age is that they just dont seem to rust, so unless its had some shoddy accident repairs it should be ok in that respect. Only thing I had problems with were the anti roll bar links, which I seemed to have to change every year for test. Thing is you are looking for something as a short term measure, most of the cars youve put up would do the job, and its likely you would get much the same money back when it comes to sell

First hole welded (sort of)
Looks like you are begining to pick it up, but I would agree that you would be better grinding it back and ensuring you get a complete weld. Any gaps or holes will create a weak point in the structure, that if any flex is present in the panel will end up fracturing. Like I said on Sunday you really want the metal of the two panels to melt and flow into each other, and not just put a run of welding wire down on top of them. Probably best to have some more practice on those scrap bits of metal. There should be plenty of wire and gas! Though as you pointed out, it is a totally different thing once you get onto the car. Just wait till you get to the upside down welding :D

Zed no more
Glad your ok, the outcome of that could have been so so much worse.

any views on this tv
You sure its for the lass, and not just you wanting to view your porn movies in the bog :D

some opinions on these cars please?
Cant see the pug, but the astra  IMHO stay well clear, you are looking for a cheap run about to see you through till the Z is fixed. Forget modded and fooked about with cars in this price bracket, it will just lead to grief. Do yourself a favour forget piston heads, look in the local rags and autotrader for a standard unmolested motor, hopefully with an old codger as the last owner who has looked after it for years. No point in buying something you are going to have to fling money at, Just get the Z sorted.

Falkirk
lol I wish, was on my way home from work, came of the roundabout intowards the estate, and the Z was heading towards me. First thoughts were that the son had taken it out for a spin, I was just thinking on what the was most painfull lingering death that I could inflict, then I noticed it was a K plate.

Fook just saw you have already said that! Note to self......read all the posts properly :D

road taxing and MOT
One thing you must do Craig is pre book the MOT, If you are stopped on the way to the garage chances are that the cops will phone to make sure it is booked in! You are exempt road tax to and from the MOT station, but you must have insurance.

MOT Fail - HICAS
Sounds like the outer ball joint has gone, however the tester hasnt really been specific enough. with the nearside rear jacked up and a stand fitted for safety, get someone to shake the N/S/R wheel. Any play should show up and let you identify the worn component. Failing that go back and ask the tester to show you what he has failed the car on. If its the outer ball joint, Im sure its about £55 from MJP. As for fitting http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=92607 Ive changed mine but didnt use the above method, I used a large g clamp and hammer, you just have to be carefull as the arm is alloy.
