  1. Ahh booked in :) the easy option, the arms really aint a big job you would manage to do them yourself. the other matter yep ive been thinking of your quoted 8 minutes for disposables  recon id need at least 20 of them, think when the time comes to do the job i'll be down to see you its going to work out cheaper
  2. Have you managed to check the front suspension arms. check out some of the photos in this thread http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=22382 both my front arms were fractured to the same extent as those in the pictures and I suspect at the least your nearside one is similar. when I replaced the arms with 2nd hand ones I also fitted a set of these to stop it happening again. http://www.smithys-place.co.uk/images/product%20imgs/sus014_large.jpg Also should say that when you check the car, if the arms are cracked U shouldnt use the car in the interests of road safety (ie your life). Ive gotta say that if you know what I mean ;)
  3. you say youve offered the wheel up, did you have the jack back under the suspension arm so that the wheel would be in its normal running position ?? you could also try working out the profile of the tyre sizes your going to fit, cutting a template section from cardboard and sticking it to the wheel in the areas youve got concerns with it aint gonna be 100% but should show if the tyres going to foul.

probably better getting it on a diagnostic machine, it could be a number of things, and you dont want to go repairing something just because it might be the cause. Ive never had to change mine yet so dont know if it causes smoke, but its possible the pcv's are shot Is it misfireing at all, if it is could even be a faulty injector. better getting it on a machine to check :)

if the coolant system isnt pressurising and chucking water out then chances are that it aint the head gasket. The instances ive seen when water gets into the combustion chamber and causes white smoke without pressurising the system have been only on start up. the water gets in when the engines cold when it heats up the expansion seals the leak, therefore the exhaust gases dont leak out into the coolant system. but your saying its all the time, recon its something else

Is the smoke on start up or all the time?.

Really think that the main words there are high pressure to be honest, then followed by expanding. the turbo turns because of the flow of gases, heat helps by expanding the gas therefore increasing the volume, more volume of gas means the turbo turns faster. I see what you are trying to say but dont agree that heat is the most important thing for a turbo. fling the turbo in a foundry oven plenty heat there, bet the turbine dont turn, but you will end up with a lump of molten metal.

  15. Is your new HD serial ATA, cause i had bother installing mine the system just wouldnt recognise it. i wanted to use the new drive as the primary drive and keep the old as a slave, I could format the new drive using the old PATA drive but as soon as i removed the PATA the system ignored the SATA drive. ended up using the old drive for the operating system and booting up, with the new drive as storage
  16. you've checked the bulbs but have you checked the fuse yet?

nice location for a meet and some nice roads to open up on :D , wish I was a bit closer.
  18. http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosacorp/newsandevents/pressreleases/2006pressreleases/01-09-06motlaunchnewre-testprocedures.htm should find your answers there, if you go into an mot station theve got to display free retest items etc on their notice board
  19. theres no time stated for carrying out a test, you could do one car in 1/2 an hour easily and have a banger take well over an hour. the garages have always been able to charge a retest fee but most didnt incase they lost buisness, they are now using computerisation as an excuse for something they should have always been doing. and you may find this next bit interesting in your case.
