  1. We cant really comment on the price - The 300zx is a lot rarer and more expensive to buy in mainland europe than it is here in the UK. What you need to consider is the price to repair vs typicaly market price in Europe. The problem is that the seller advises Turbo replacement......most likely Smoke issues - which makes it hard to diagnose the condition of the engine. I would suggest having the engine compression checked when you view the car. Perhaps speak to European Z specialists DTA Motorsport, based in the netherlands http://dta-motorsport.com/ , for best and worse case scenario in regards to repair cost. Standard Turbo reconditioning would cost you around € 1000 per pair , from UK turbo specialists. Labour wise, your looking at Engine removal which can be a daunting task on the 300zx, even for experienced mechanics, when not used to the Z setup. The good thing is there is plenty of knowledge both here and elsewhere on the net if you run into any troubles and need advice.
  2. I have no experience with that particular make but they are the correct size
  3. work - yes. But wont offer any benefit over Normal superunleaded without having the car specifically mapped to make benefit of the higher octane. its meant for decicated track cars, for race weekend events. Plus it costs about £3 per litre
  4. Our 98 Octane is about equal to the U.S 93 octane. We use Ron, the other method being Mon. The test methods differ by temperature and load, with Mon considered to be the more reliable test. The U.S use an average rating of Ron & Mon, called Pon.
  5. Its about £75-£100 to have your ECU Chipped with a new Remap. John Dixon probably being the most popular choice for his expertise and mapping experience , but the other recomended suppliers are AndyP, DTA and Zedworld. The remap ensures proper fuel and timing maps for Increased boost when fitting a boost controller, as well as removing the stock Speed limiter and Raising the Rev limiter. The AVC-R is decent, but you really cant go wrong with the Greddy profec B Spec II. Probably the most popular and widely reccomended controller - It does everything you need, simple to use and reliable. With a remapped ECU and the vehicle properly checked the max boost limit would be 14psi/1bar (stock is 9.5psi), which gives a very healthy power increase.
  6. My sister had one for a few years until recently. Funky and well built interior, esp compared to other small hatches. Fun to drive, although ride is quite firm and very little rear or boot space.
  7. Mines just listed as "Nissan Sports" and thats it, and this is the reason we cant get any population numbers for the Z from DVLA. If your worried then may as well have it changed
  8. I had an old escort once that did that. Bloody dodgy earths.
  9. Engine in/out makes little difference. The difficulty in fitting is inside the car, as it comes through the bulkhead behind the glovebox.
  10. Yeh, you see it a lot on the lighter coloured Z's.
  11. ok, thanks for clarifying Dan. It was as I first thought - 35W FTW, which is what most of us will have fitted and have been reccomending for years. I could not be happier with the 35w 6000k kit I have fitted, with stripped and cleaned headlights. (old pic)
  12. ah, I may have got my wires crossed based on what you've just said. I was under the assumption that Dan's kits were 35w and every kit for the past 5 years has been 35w, with 55w being relatively new to the market. Up until the last 6 months or so nobody ever made any reference to there being different wattage options....perhaps its 35w thats the newer option ? I cant check mine as they are fitted underneath the headlights, but if thats the case then ignore everything I have said.
  13. Nearly all of us HID users will be running 35w. The 55w HID's is relatively new to the market and is something these chinese/HK sellers have been busy selling. If you found 35w barely much better than stock then there is something very wrong. The upgrade is astonishing and gives you headlights easy as good as or better than modern car headlights.
  14. FFS, so many horror stories. Was this done by the original owner that upset so many customers, or the "new and improved" owner that claimed to be turning the companies reputation around ?
  15. no reason to go for 55w specifically, 35w is spot on and is what everyone has been fitting for years, the brightness increase is amazing with properly cleaned healights. 55w will offer a brighter output but at the cost of more reflective glare and washout, and 35w is more than bright enough. Anything in the 4000-6000k range.
  16. Get the Bmw if you prefer a better built, higher quality car aimed more at the performance driver with superb handling and a top notch powerfull silky smooth straight 6 engine. Get the Merc if you dont.
  17. ah yes, missed the bit about having uk bumper fitted.
  18. meant to say Late 93 onwards for Series 4. Yours looks to be a Series 2. Wiki very bad source of info, anyone can edit what they like on there, and whats there now appears to be for the u.s market anyway. All UK cars have rear 3-point belts, but your right about the Steering wheel. The non-painted Plenum Balance bar is another clue.
  19. Electronic hicas is 93 (series 4) onwards
  20. Its L-reg which means electronic hicas, no hydraulic solenoid in engine bay ;)
  21. Had a Mazda Xedos 6 2.0 V6 for a short while. It was a bit bland tbh. Cheap interior, smooth but not very powerfull engine, cant say I would really reccomend one.
  22. I've always gone with 20% as a rough price to add onto the total with shipping for expected charges. Has always worked out about right in the past. if you try and cheat on charges, and it gets lost or damaged in transit then your screwed for insurance payout.
  23. RPS Sport street - Z1motorsport.com or czp.us
  24. Could well be the bulb, but the fuel gauge, along with the rest of the gauges have poor accuracy. You may well have a lot more fuel than you think in there. The tank holds 72 litres (about £100 of super unleaded), but there have been lots of threads in the past from people claiming they can only get get 50 or 60 litres in (becuase its not as empty as they thought).
