  1. Im sure I have a bigger one :p .....If I can find it...
  2. Looking great, the colour looks very similar to Bayside blue in those pics. Love what you've done with the rear bumper and black paint, very effective. Looking forward to seeing it all put together.
  3. For UK cars it goes on on the First registered date, but for imports it goes on the declared manufactured date It should say on the V5 that it was registered overseas and declard manufactured in whatever date. So you can only put a plate of that year or older (or an Irish plate) on it, not newer. The 51/52 plate Z would of been a DVLA ****up. Somebody puts the wrong date in the wrong field when typing it into system.
  4. Owners used to the lwb think swb's look too stubby , and those with swb's think the lwb looks stretched. It what your used too. Looks are a very minor reason for picking one over the other though, for swb fans its much more about the way they drive (performance/handling benefits) when you dont need rear seats for kids/dwarves.
  5. Prob best to cut them off. As long as its not blowing and its mounted securely your fine in regards to the exhaust, but they could mark it down for loose parts that could break off.
  6. Thats why I said usually and not always :tt2::tt2: I've never been charged, but I know some do.
  7. Its been 4 years since I've owned the slicktop, but it was taken of the road by the previous owner a year before I got..hence 5yrs total for the car. Yeh lol , Not this Z anyway. Its my 4th Z though since I've been a member here. The old girl should be like new when finished.....better than new. :)
  8. Welcome :) The Pearl yellow is a rare colour, an additional cost option for only a few select years. It is quite a pale colour originally, and it does seem to suffer from sun fade - the colour your seeing in the photo's is most lilely not far of its actual tone. Being a UK car the most important thing to check is for Rust/Corrosion. The most typical area is the sills just in front of the rear wheels. Check for smoke on idle, under boost and when lifting off. Turbo oil seal problems can be one of the more expensive jobs to sort. It should rev smoothly without any vibration or judder. They can suffer with Ignition and fuel injection wiring looms problems with age which can intermittently drop the car down to 5 or less cylinders. Oil leaks near the rear of the engine can indicate turbo feed leaks or rear crank main seal. Any wobble/weaving from the rear, particulaly when hitting bumps is likely to be worn Hicas bushes or Rear dampners. Not too expensive to sort though. Things like worn leather seat bolsters, Seatbelts that dont retract properly, peeling Window trims, cracked Windscreen scuttle panels are all very typical of a Z of that age. A lot of Z's are runnign around in Safety mode without owners realising. Safety mode restricts boost, retards timing and runs richer fuel maps. Severly affecting performance, but if your not used to a properly runnign Z the car can still feel very fast. There is an old buying guide in the FAQ here : http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=28236 Good Luck. Buy with your head, not just your heart - There are a lot of poor examples out there and the wrong choice can turn out to be expensive. You wont regret buying a good example :)
  9. They are specific to the Z. 6 Piston with 345mm 2 piece slotted Discs. However front fitment for the R32,R33,R34 Skyline GTR and 200sx is the same to the 300zx. So any brakes listed for either will fit straight onto the Z. Although the Caliper piston size on this particular kit is matched to the 300zx and R33 GTR Brake master cylinder size specifically. They are about 2k new, however I managed to pick these up for a good price used.
  10. :D How about a cable from your Router to my PC ? Just connect it up at your end, throw is in the back of the Z with it trailing out the Window and shoot down the Motorway ?
  11. They would do the tricl but looks You dont get much wire with them, I'd want some a little longer as quite often there can be breaks in the loom within the 8" area beforethe connector, as thats where it twists and turns the most between the plenum and balance bar..etc MJP supply them, a little more expensive but they should be the OEM sub harness with longer looms than them http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=149295 Check the condition of the connectors and give the loom a wiggle, if its an intermittent fault with the loom or connectors that will quickly tell you, before purchasing any.
  12. Yeh, I have one, from ages ago, but Im using the Iphone connected to PC Instead. Its acting in the same way those dongles do. It does hspda speeds normally, but the dongles and the iPhone are all reliant on cell network signal, which is too weak here that its dropped right down to gprs mode.
  13. The trouble now is everything is built with broadband in mind, webpages are so bloated in comparison to what they were back then.
  14. We've got two Bmw threads on the go at the same time, both on 3 pages
  15. The sad thing is that the car was at the driveable state it is now 2 years ago. Been mostly untouched since then, as it was at that time that I became a Uni student......and the pot of money dried up. Yeh lol , but to fit them I needed to fit the wheels......and they needed tyres all round.......and I started restoring the wheels.... ....then I lost motivation :( :) Luckily, for most of those years I had a regular supply of other peoples Z's to drive on a daily basis. :w00t: It feels good to get behind the wheel of something I've built up entirely from scratch myself.......except I could'nt sleep last night as I lay there wondering if I'd tightened up the steering shaft U.J or the subframe bolts....or the wheelbolts....or the gearbox....
  16. oh....and Porn is out of the question ! o2 have an 18yrs age proof limit thing through the phone, and its impossible to watch videos at 1 frame per minute anyway.
  17. This is Through Sky. Picked em for the TV, broadband, phone package. Cable is not available around here. Phoned around several yesterday, when Sky kept moving the install dates around, and they were all saying pretty much the same thing - That its down to BT Openreach who have to activate the phonelines and send out the "engineers" ..etc
  18. ...Broadband companies ! Dont mind me, Im just having a rant  Moved house 2 weeks ago, ordered the broadband a week before we moved, yet they reckon its still going to be abother 3 weeks till broadband will be sorted 6 frigging weeks !!, in the meantime Im using my iPhone as a modem for Internet acsess from the PC, but signal sucks here so Its on crappy 2g which is like tearing your nails out with a pair of pliers. :bored: Im pulling my frigging hair out when each frigging webpage takes nearly 2 frigging mins to appear..if it ever appears, and Im revising for some hardcore exams coming up and most of my revision resources are frigging online and I cant frigging do anything...... :gun_bandana::mad::gun_bandana::mad:
  19. Certainly could be, but for you guys in the States injector failure is far more common becuase of the increased Ethanol content in your fuel.
  20. ...in the Slicktop :) Last time was 2 years ago, for a very brief test drive, and its not been properly on the road in about 5 years, since before I puchased it as rolling shell. I did have all sorts of concerns about wether I had tightned every bolt up since I basically stripped it back to nothing and fully rebuilt it....nothing fell off though LOL but....wow :D I Loved it! Its sooo responsive ! It feels so alive compared to a stock Z - Its about 250kg lighter, with Lightweight pulleys, lightweight flywheel, one piece prop, 4.08 Rear Diff......and it all really does make a big difference ! More than I expected. :devil2: I've left it on 7psi, becuase I have the stock solenoids removed and the EBC needs sorting but it was frightently quick considering, cant wait to get it running full boost. :scared: Brakes sucked, since its been standing for so long, and some vibration from the tyres from tyre flatspotting I think. But I have my 18's splitrims and AP Racing 6pots to go on. Its still not officially on the road yet, as it still needs to go to the Bodyshop, and the test drive identified some small issues but its definalty got me movitated up  :tt1: Its now settled in its new parking spot at my New house, and Im preparing to build up a new driveway area for it at the rear so I can get tinkering again.
  21. **** me. yes please !!! Its an Awesome engine - 500 bhp, 5.0 Litre Aluminium V10 , Fully forged, Dry sumped, Individual throttle bodies, 8.2k rev limit.
  22. yeh, a friend had the same with his E36 years ago. Its not the M3 vert i dont like with a fabric roof......its ALL convertibles LOL If I had a vert I'd defintly get the Hardtop too.
  23. oh yeh, vert.....I meant its based on the coupe body though. The Hardtop roof is good though, verts are usually ugly with the roof up but the hardtop looks great. I dunno, I think they look very different at first glance. Black (or blue ;)) hides a cars lines though. Its never going to stand out like a 300zx, but I definatly notice M3's on the road over the 3series.
  24. nah, the M3 is definatly more on par with a Chipped TT. 0-60 4.8 , 0-100 11.5 secs ...etc They weigh about the same, but the M3 is 40-60 extra horsepower from a revvy, responsive NA with power all the way to its 8k limiter. Although like Alan says, the vert is going to be little porkier than the Coupe.
