300ZX TT Buying Advice?
Hi Mike, Welcome to the Forum :D There is a good buying guide here : http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm The Uk Model was available 1990-1994 (possibly some early examples in late 89), and was only availble as a TT 2+2 Japanese Production continued till 2000, and was available as a TT, NA, 2+2 and 2+0(SWB) If your insurance company did'nt ask about it being an Import, then they have almost certainly quoted it as a UK model. Imports will cost more to insure, but if you find the right insurer then the difference is neglidgeable. It would be wise to ask on here if anyone current zed owners nearby would'nt mind checking the car out for you. David

strap in people
Really sad to hear Graeme :( A lot of drivers seem to disregard safety in the mindset that "it will never happen to them". If you dont wear a seatbelt for that reason, then at least take into consideration that it also helps hold you in place, enabling you to handle the car better.......and maybe one day it will also save your life! I could'nt drive a car without buckling up, it just does'nt feel right.

UJCC Meet
I could'nt recomend ztec enough, have a search on forum and you'll see nothing but praise. I certainy would'nt trust anything like a rebuild to a non zed specialist(many of his customers come to him becuase of ****s ups from other non-zed garages(and other zed specialists!). I was up there today, and he's working on several rebuilds at moment, and I must of counted at least a dozen zeds there, and they come from all over the UK(and further) ! Give Ryan(Baggins) a Ring (or PM) him, see what he says. Your best bet would be to hire/borrow a van, and Car trailer(cost me £30 for the day a few months back) to get it to him. Best of luck, David

porsche 928gts, no match
When the Zed came out it was described as a Porsche 944 Turbo and 928 in one. The 944 being the No.1 sports car of that time, the zed handled just as well, matched its lap time, but had the more comfortable ride and smoothness of the 928. Perfect :D

In traders forum, although a lot easier to get hold him by phone. I dont think he is a regular visitor.

350z do i ,dont i
Definatly go test drive one first, if you have'nt already. You dont want to be stressing out over the decision and then end up not liking it when you try it. I like the 350z, its had some great reviews as a drivers car (except for some interior build quality niggles), although it takes some slack from other Jap car fans, mainly on its looks  I believe the 300zx is a better car, but If its a Brand New Sports coupe you want for under £25k, then I think its a good choice. Its not an upgrade to the zed, its an upgrade to the 240/260/280z. The 300zx was aimed as competition to the High-end Porsches (944 + 928), and was a lot more expensive than the 350z. The 350z is aimed more at the Porsche Boxter.

Help - Alarm fitting, Ignition coil wiring
Thansk Paul, can you recomend a way of using this on the Zed setup ? Wrap it around one of the Spark plug coilpacks ? It also mentions another wire in the diagram, that says should be connected to the Positive connection on Coil. It would be great to use the Remote start feature of the alarm, but if not I'll just have to miss that bit out of the install :( Thanks, David

white paint code help
Was this on the shelf at halfords or did you have them make it up ? I've just been to halfords today and got them to make me up the metallic black from the colour code, and I noticed that all the measuring is done by hand. Possible the guy that mixed it did'nt measure correctly ? If it was out of a can of the shelf then...no idea, other than that White paint can be suseptical to fade/alter over the years. In which case it would probably be best to take something easily removed, like the original nose panel to a Paint supplier or bodyshop and get them to create a matching colour.

HM Customs lol

door glass snapped from guide stud
Sorry to hear about this, Not sure how you fix this, but something not right for this to happen. The window should'nt go up far enough to cause any damage. You'll need to find out why this happened before repairing, or it could happen again.

Shell V.power
Nope BP Ultimate is just rebranded Super unleaded at 97 Ron, many have reported their Zeds dont run as well on BP Ultimate as they do on Optimax. I've only ever used it as a £10 stop gap between Optimax garages.

Best Option
I cant recomend any specific makes in particular, but all of the Boost controllers do the same primary job, some just have extra features, but neither one will gain you extra power over another. In terms of Dump Valves, The zed has recirculating Dump Valves as standard, so all your doing is swapping them for ones that vent to atmosphere to make a noise instead. There are no performance advantages (there is actually a slight performance disadvantage to BOV versus stock recircs) Some are louder than others, and some require minor modifications to work correctly at the right pressures.

Shell V.power
Yes! Its 99 Ron (optimax is 98ron)...a lot of the european countries have it....and there are rumours of it replacing optimax in the UK...but still waiting :(

Nice Pics. Glen, I recognise your Purple Zed. I test drove it at the beginning of october last year. The seller was local to me. Had a nice spray job on it. Congrats on the purchase, had it long ?
