Its the throw that is shorter, not the actual shifter itself. Once fitted you'll notice the difference.

Underneath car, on drivers side bolted to side of gearbox.

When i turn my key...
Starter motor enagement spring is failing and not engaging properly, or it has come loose against the gearbox. Its common for one of the bolts to work its way loose, allowing the starter motor to move about which often snaps one top mounting point.

how much is a zed worth in bits ????
Auto or Manual? Most valuable part of a 300zx these days is the Manual conversion kit. Engine £500-£700 Manual conversion parts - £700 / Autobox - £200 Front and Rear Brakes and Brake master cylinder - £250 (200sx owners) MAF - £100 (200sx owners) Leather - £100-£250 depending on condition UK Clocks - £100 / Jap clocks - £30 Thats the most popular and most valuable parts. Then maybe £200-£300 more for the rest of the stuff - Body panels, bits of interior..etc Its a lot of work to break a car though. You will need a lot of time, space and tools.

loom help
You have a LHD loom then, you just need to conceal the excess loom underneath the battery tray.

overboost button
Its not so ideal for a car with stock turbos and injectors, but if you had larger items you would be more inclined to have a low, high and overtake boost setting.

Anyone know what chip this is?
Yeh, its definatly chipped...if you did want to find out exactly what ECU map it has then it can be downloaded with conzult and somebody like John Dixon or Andyp would be the people to ask to take a look at it. JWT is a very popular option.
-
Anyone know what chip this is?
The chip is just a generic item, and as pretty much all JWT's in the UK are just copies of the original U.S JWT ECU its likely that your is indeed a JWT map. The chip does not affect boost, the boost increase is down to either Boost Jets (mig welding tips) or boost controller. The stock gauge is famously useless btw. The adjustment screw in the 2nd pic is for putting the car into diagnostics mode. Details here : http://www.ttzd.com/tech/diagnostictech.html

A disclaimer for someone to test drive my car?
ok, arguably an insurer could try and get out of a claim if you were not taxed, they will try anything. In the eyes of the law however no tax does not mean no insurance.
