Is there an electrician in the house (calling for del)
So if all i'm doing is pulling cable which any monkey can do and not actually terminating anything then fine. I just want it done right and cable pulled via areas i know and it saves a whole load of time for the other sparc to do which he likely will either get a junior to do anyways. I fully understand where you are coming from and i personally wouldnt sign off anybodies else's work just on the bases of they said there qualified. Now I am a qualified network engineer and i will be pulling catv cables through various ducting so that is the main reason for me going to do some of the work myself as theres nothing worse than one engineer snagging the work and causing damage to network cables that have a more chance of being damaged.

Is there an electrician in the house (calling for del)
I am a competent person on electrical engineering and i would say qualified too and its nearly an ocupational route i went down. As far as electrical work goes i'll pull a few cables and attach some sockets, the rest ie installing a distro box will be done by what i called a certified engineer. I'm not asking someone else to come in and sign my work off as if they did it so not breaking any laws here. The only bit i'm quering in this thread is earth leakage for pc's, i well understand voltage, amps and wattage and limits but adding many pc's to a single circuit has implications i'm not 100% with and it appears so is del and he is what i call certified.

So heres our floor plan and it shows two pods of 12 and two pods of 8. if you can imagine each side of the pods are seperate and are joined together with one 13amp plug. Each desk has 4 sockets each with a max amps of 5 as each socket is also fused. i'm installing 50x100mm dado trunking around the outer wall that will have two compartments; one for cat5 data cable and ther other for 2.5 t&e. i'm all clued up enough to do the install but it will be sanity checked later by a qualified engineer. a seperate distro box will be put in the electrical area where i can run the power cables back to. So when running a seperate circuit back there will only be one double socket point at each end point so will i double the cable as if its a ring ?

Is there an electrician in the house (calling for del)
sorry, each desk has a power strip that daisy chains to the next. and these are proper power strips for office use rather than trailing sockets at the end is a 13amp plug. With a max 6 desks daisy chained

Is there an electrician in the house (calling for del)
Right, I work for a call centre and we are going to be fitting new systems in a new premises shortly. What I need to know is the load limit for earth leakage and how many pc's I can put on a circuit. As a guide I know 240v x 32amps gives me wattage and at that only 80% is a safety margin to use so about 6144 watts per 32amp breaker. we are going to have three pods of 12 pc's each with a maximum wattage of 255 with no other devices. 6 pc's per side will connect in a daisy chain style to a 13amp plug which I think is safe and 10 would be my limit. I plan to split the pods each having its own 32amp breaker so max 12 pc's per circuit. Is all above sound and is there anything regarding earth leakage I should know that could cause the system to trip ? Cheers lee

Replying to PM via email
This is just a reminder that you cannot reply to PM's via email. I think sometimes people get the PM notification through their email with the contents of the PM and then they hit reply with what they think is going to be their reply but unfortunately it doesn't work like that. Instead all system emails come directly to me via email and depending how great your PM is I either get the misfortune of reading it and reply to tell you of such or it goes straight into my spam system. Not that I enjoy reading your PM's :whistling: but I've usually got other club or work stuff to get on with. So this is just a wee reminder that unless you want your reply PM coming to me directly please login again and reply directly via the system and that will ensure that the recipient will get your message. Many thanks. Lee

Extending wireless network, help
The whole power thing could be down to area too if that's possible! In that power circuits vary between building and likely a newer building would have less issues, also in my area we are more prone to power spikes and what not. If it works in your area then great but being a network engineer I've always installing hard wires or using network equipment that slightly more technical to use than the average household would use. My preferred hardware is Mikrotik and runs a special system called routeros

Extending wireless network, help
Never liked those power grid network devices as i've never seen one working properly in the real world. If your going to setup multiple WiFi areas use simple wifi access points set them up with the same name and credentials and tell them to use your main router as the default gateway and your set. I recently installed a wifi setup exactly like that less than a few months ago and the guy gets maximum signal from all of his devices all through his house. Also if you can put the wifi devices in the loft space and the signal penetrates through plasterboard downwards better than it could ever do through brick or other masonery elements. lee

Plenum changes after 94
A wee while back I posted up my findings on my 96 TT in that its plenum has some slight changes compared to previous models and that I found that older plenums just wouldn't fit flush with the lower plenum. I found this out when I bought my first polished plenum and planned to do a direct swap! Today while glancing through YouTube I came over this video of a guy who's just noticed too : [video=youtube;d4avj-c8wZc]

Going to the Dark Side :cool3:
I know I could have gotten more on flee bay but there was an intermittent issue with the power button in that it wouldn't always lock, and if sold on ebay I knew it would come back to bite me in the ass. So sold it to orange and it passed there tests and got a guaranteed £400 with no asking for refunds. im happy and I've struck a deal to get a new unlocked galaxy note 2 for £425.

Battery Cable
Want to extend the battery cable so what size do i need ? Reason being the higher capacity battery i bought has the terminals further away and i dont like the stretch or look. So want i would like is to snip the old clamps on, join a new fresh cable and use brand new clamps making it all look oem.

Going to the Dark Side :cool3:
After many years of being an apple iPhone user I'm finally selling up and getting a droid ! Well I've owned every version of the iPhone since day dot including all the sub s version but I think the iphone 5 although only own for a few months will be my last ever apple style phone. Personally over the years I've absolutely loved the features and style of apple products but since the parting of mr jobs I thing apple have fallen far behind other retailers like Samsung and believe it or not even the new blackberry looks fairly cool. So today I sold my trusty iphone 5 back to Orange Recycle for £398 and soon as I get paid for that I'm going to get myself a Samsung galaxy note 2 !:cool3: There's been many a vs style threads over the years and I've always been on apple side but now if another thread does get started i'm more than likely to be more pro towards using the android system and style. So who all has the Note 2 and what's you're views on its daily usage and overall battery / size ?

Slack cable on Petrol Flap
I'm guessing its the same cable for boot and petrol cap release, the boot seems fairly easy although it does move a good distance as apposed to pushing down on it.
