Yeah i was heading for the M11 going via the A14 to Kettering. wanted a nice steady drive to see what she is like. Lovely car very pleased. was a bit upsetting watching Rev1 watching me drive off in his pride and joy though. but i take my hat off to him. its a lovely car to drive. will be getting some pictures tomorrow after ive sorted out a few bits and pieces on her.

hold on, over revving on the AFM, is this a red herring? or is there something simple like a short in the AFM wiring causing it give a faulty reading and the ECU to believe there is a AFM connected still

Idle control valve plug connected to the O2 sensor plug, only thing is why would it give no reading?

Bit off topic, but my Mrs found a Elvis CD in a charity shop once. and i said to her "your not listening to that in the car, the stereo doesn't like Elvis" she laughed at me and proceeded to put it in the CD player when we got back to the motor. only for the CD to not play, and when she tried to eject it, it refused. had to take the stereo apart to get the CD out in the end lol

my guess would be gasket between the plenum and lower plenum not sitting correctly putting excess air into the intake chambers thus the engine trying to compensate for it. Or its going to be something stupid like a mouse climbed up the exhaust and blocked one of the exits. thus the problem cured its self when the small rodent was launched with some force across the workshop out into the road and landed on the opposite side of the street on all feet where it made its speedy getaway.

Take the story of noah's ark, i believe that's a true story, but not for this planet. its worded in a way to make us fear the consequences of destroying the planet again, but is related to our last one. "and god said to Noah build me and ark (space ship) and place 2 of every creature on board (embryo implantation's or even cryosleep). i shall flood the earth and destroy all those who have angered me with a raging flood (global warming melting ice caps)" when Noah had finished, god flooded the earth and the ark set off looking for land (a new planet) Noah released a Dove (scout drone looking for a suitable planet) to inhabit. came across earth, yet there was one problem, dinosaurs, so as the technology was advanced enough, we fired something at the planet to kill off the most threatening species to ours (nice meteorite that hit the earth). waited for the earth to recover (cryosleep again) and then settled down on the planet. So you say how come we haven't got any of that advanced technological prowess any more? simple because why give us something that obviously destroyed our last world. if we lost the means to have advanced technology then this planet might stand a fighting chance. OK cryosleep isn't viable yet but who knows it might of been.

Yes i do believe in aliens, we most probably are aliens. and how you ask do i come to that conclusion? (lol shrek your going to love this) Because i believe we (as in our race) do not come from earth its self. i believe that us humans came to this planet after we destroyed our last one the same way we are destroying this one. sounds crazy i know, but then if you think what I'm saying is crazy, just look at the fact that us humans have to adapt to every environment on the plant to survive. but not by evolution that takes millions of years to achieve, but we can adapt if we put our minds to it with in minutes of a situation changing. We have been here a fraction of the time the dinosaurs were, yet they evolved with the planet. we didnt, they didnt destroy it, it destroyed them. we are destroying it before it gets a chance to destroy us, and very soon we are going to be looking for a new one. Skeptics about the Are we alone they, argue there is no possible way to travel the set distances in space to make space travel a reality. Its not that its not possible, its just we havent figured out how to yet. But im sure we will as we have done in the past.

Going back to the veg, i had a 1.9l td xantia very nice car, used to run it on pure rape seed oil from tescos when they sold it at £1.98 for 3 litres, no recycling needed. then changed over to the good stuff, Costco 20 litre drum for £10, you can never get over the look on peoples faces in tescos car park when your standing there putting veg oil direct from the bottle into the tank. As for using veg, you are allowed to legally use 2500litres before you start getting taxed on it. the law was changed a few years back. Only xantia with the bosch fuel pump can use veg as the Lucas one grinds to a halt due to the extra thickness of the fuel

Dunno about prone places, but i know they can leak from under the plenum, you might be lucky that its one of the pipes leading too or from the heater matrix, i say lucky but its still a bit of a job to reach, but at least the plenum doesn't have to come off.

Have a good poke around something isn't right, let us know if you solved it, if not, id say time to check those soldered connections matey.

Did you use new O rings for the balance bar, also sounds like a misfire so something isn't firing correctly, have you tried the long screw driver trick? Put a long screw driver directly on the injector cap with the car running and then put your ear to it, you should hear a series of clicks, if the injector is firing. Also, to find out what cylinder is misfiring, with engine running, pull the plugs off of the Coil packs one at a time and listen for engine change. if it cuts out its the wrong plug, put it back on restart the car and try another one, if there is no change then that's the cylinder its not firing on. Check the Coil pack plugs as well, they contain a black grommet, if its not seated correctly (just push it into the plug housing use a small flat head screw driver until it reaches the bottom end of the plug) then plug them back in and see if that works. if all was fine before you started, my guess is either a Major Air Leak somewhere. or a miss seated plug. just carefully go over everything you have just changed and check all pipes and connections.

Would be a good idea to do that sooner rather than later if your car is going to be on the road. pain in the butt trying to clear a windscreen other wise
