  1. Hey Mike! How's it going mate? Like Eric stated, the ConZult will work on Twin Turbos, N/A's, SX, GTI-R and at some point we'll get it sorted for the Skylines as well.   2. David, Your vibration when cold problem sounds remarkably similar to what my car is experiencing. Had a compression test done (when cold) which indicated that the number 2 cylinder was considerably down on compression. Once the engine was warm the same cylinder showed normal compression. Now, cylinders don't normaly "repair" themselves so I put the question to Jeff at ZedWorld who in turn asked an engine rebuilder. They seem to be of the opinion that I have a "sticky" lifter when the engine is cold. Once the engine has had a chance to warm up and circulate hot oil it seems to aleviate the problem. I'm not a great fan of flushing the system as this may dislodge gunk which eventually will do more damage than good so I'm a bit at a loss of what to do next. Again, not sure if this is the same problem as you are having but it is worth considering ... Regards,
  3. Hello all, This thread is purely for informative purposes and you may or may not want to take action based on the information I am about to write. This morning I logged onto the internet to check my e-mail accounts and received a total of 68 messages (non of which had any attachments). After deleting the obligatory spam (no less than 38 out of the 68) and dealing with the remainder of the messages I spent roughly 25 minutes online. Wishing to disconnect from the ISP I double clicked the systray modem icon and noticed that in the 25 minutes I spent online my computer had mysteriously sent out 1.35MB of info and received 8.56MB of info! :o Now, I can guarantee that I only sent out a handful of e-mails non of which contained any attachments. This set of alarm bells and it would appear that I had been a victim of so called "spyware" - God knows for how long this had been going on. My PC is shared by two people who independently access the internet for various reasons so it is impossible to pin-point who was the cause of this. Actually, finger pointing is irrelevant as we are all equally exposed when accessing the internet. I spent some more time online searching for spyware information and came across the following link to download a highly rated "spyware search & destroy" application: http://spybot.eon.net.au/index.php?lang=en&page=download. It is about 3.5MB in size so dowloading didn't take long (even over my antiquated 56K dial-up connection). Installation was painless and modifying the settings was self explanatory. Apart from scanning for spyware this software will also scan your system for dead registry links, usage tracking add-on software and will also help secure your system against certain known future illicit spyware access threats. Scanning my system took about 15 minutes during which the software checked for 10225 known spyware threads. To my surprise it found no less than 89 threats! Each thread had a very usefull information pop-up link which helped me determine how serious the threat was. Cleaning this mess took about a minute and, fingers crossed, my system should now be clear of nasty spyware. The moral of this story: I had no idea that I had this many threats on my PC and my guess is that a lot of you don't either. As a preventative measure I highly recommend that you scan your system and protect yourself against this annoying and potentially dangerous form of software. These days identity theft is on the rise and spyware makes it real easy for anyone to gain access to your PC and see/steal personal information. This is especially applicable to those who use their PC's for online banking and internet payments, etc. I understand that installing a personal firewall will help limit this type of uninvited access to your PC but having tested various free firewall software in the past has only resulted in crashed PC systems - don't know why ... It's a long story but hopefully this information will help those of us who don't even know that they are exposed to this crap. Regards,

  6. Hi Cos, One real bugger of a hose/clip to get to is hidden underneath the throttle body linkage. Take the plastic cover over the plenum off, look down onto underneath the rod that links the two throttle body actuators and you'll see a hose which runs left-to-right with a clip either side. You'll need a very slip and very long screwdriver to get to it. Good luck mate! BTW - are you going to the "Bubble Inn" meet this coming Sunday? Regards,

  10. Hi Stuart, Another thing to look at are the shims behind the brake pads. Re-grease them with some copper grease and see if that helps. My car made a creaking noise as it approached stand-still or as I was just releasing the brakes from a stand-still. Changed the pads as part of routine maintenance (and cleaned/re-greased the shims) and the creaking stopped! Not sure if this helps but it's worth a shot! Regards,

Check it out in the Traders Forum. General note: A'PEXi has stopped supplying the PowerFlow induction kits with fixing bars as shown in the pic above. No reason given. I have had mine installed in my Zed without the two bars for over two years now and not once has it rattled or come loose. Regards,
  12. Congratulations Andy! Intermittent speedo and power steering failure more than likely have to do with a faulty speed sensor. Get one from Nissan and replace it and this will probably sort the problems. Hope that helped. Wishing you many happy Zed miles! Regards,
  13. Code 34 does not necessarily mean the engine is experiencing detonation. Code 34 indicates a fault with the detonation sensor circuit which could be one of many things. I.e., det sensor is knackered, wiring harness from det sensor to connector in the engine bay knackered, connectors are knackered, wiring harness from connector in the engine bay to ECU knackered. As far as I'm aware, if the det sensor picks up detonation it will signal the ECU to go into safety boost mode (i.e., 7psi boost only) but will not report a Code 34 error. Every time the ignition is turned off the detonation circuit resets itself and starts with a "clean slate" so to speak. If you look at the ECU fault code results using a ConZult it will tell you how many starts ago a particular circuit failed. Oops, I'm rambling .... HTH Danny
  14. The main cost in replacing the rear window is in the surrounding fixtures, not the actual glass. It is also far easier to replace the entire tailgate rather than the glass alone and will ultimately work out cheaper too! Try to get a second hand tailgate with J-spec glass from either AndyZ or another breakers. If you're lucky it is in the same colour as your car, if not it'll need a respray which for a tailgate and blending shouldn't be that much of an expense. Sorry to hear about your unfortunate accident - atleast you didn't get injured like the poor sod outside our building who had a one of those foldable floor display signs blown into him at the cost of his upper leg (paramedics said it looked broken in three places!   15. Roy, A TPS only costs around £37 + VAT at any Nissan dealer. I have the part number at home as I've just bought a new one myself and if you need it I can e-mail that to you tonight - no problem. As for the voltages you are reading ... way off! Should defo read between 0.40V~0.45V at tickover. Would be easiest to check and set up properly with the help of a ConZult - far easier than with a multimeter! Not sure if there is anyone in/near Cork with one though ... Regards,

Hello all, Am looking to buy a new PC in the next few months and would like to get an AMD XP Athlon model but the MHz ratings are very confusing (and so far nobody has been able to give me a difinitive answer). Can someone tell me what the Pentium MHz equivalents are of the following AMD Athlon chips: 3200 3000 2800+ 2600+ 2400+ I've been told that the 2400+ is the equivalent of 2.0MHz P4 but due to the architecture it should be faster ...   18. If that post (Siraff) was aimed at me then the answer is no. The kit contains the airfilter, gasket and fixing bolts. Not quite sure what you are speaking of but it sounds like you are referring to intercoolers ... (?) and their associated hosery, etc. ;) You can get nice shiny stainless steel hardpipes from Smithy (Smithy's Place on the Traders Forum) but we (DTA-Motorsport.co.uk) do the same type of hardpipe kit although not officially sold in the UK/Forum.   21. Richard, You've done good cleaning all connectors, TBs and Idle Valve. One more thing to throw into the equation is the actual TPS value. It should be set somewhere between 0.40V - 0.44V. If the TPS is old it the value may fall outside of this range and cause the throttle circuit to close which in turn raises the rpms. Use a multimeter, or better still a ConZult (available at DTA-Motorsport.co.uk) to check the TPS value and then make adjustments accordingly. It should be set just before the throttle circuit closes, which may be anywhere between 0.40V - 0.44V. I recently helped another member on this forum to check his TPS value using my ConZult and found it to be set at 0.28V. Now, this was surprisingly the correct value as 0.30V was the point at which the throttle circuit closed. Over time the TPS wears and the value changes. This particular car was reacting slow to throttle input but was behaving correctly indicating that the actual TPS value is not too relevant. It is the range of voltages that is relevant. Sorry for babbling on. My suggestion is (a) check your TPS value and (b) get a new TPS (only about £37 + VAT from Nissan). Good luck and let us know how you get on. Regards,

  23. With all due respect to those who manage to socket their own ECUs, it is better handled by a professional. The ECU board is highly sensitive to excessive temperature changes and if you attempt to desolder the chip using the wrong type of soldering iron (i.e., too high temp) then the excessive temp will do fatal damage to the ECU. When I get ECUs socketed I hand them over to a professional outfit who have the correct tool to desolder all legs at once and remove the chip - leaving minimal chance for it to go wrong. Potentially, each leg you desolder could be the one that causes damage. And replacing an ECU will cost you a lot of money. Hope this hasn't p*ssed people off as it is just my 2p worth. Regards,
