round peg square hole?
About a week or so ago there was a plonker in a BMW 328 who had massively long sticks of metal sticking up through his sunroof (looked like the stuff they use to reinforce concrete with). He approached the "low bridge" behind our house and basically the metal hit the roof of the bridge. I was watching this through our kitchen window whilst doing the washing-up (yes, I'm fairly well domesticated) and nearly broke a glass from laughing! He came out the other end and didn't look too pleased with the state of his back seats! Probably have a few nice puncture holes in them!

What a Day!
Yep - not too bad up here in Brum either - so took the targas out, drove about 1/2 a mile down the road and had birdshit drop onto the pass. seat whilst waiting at a traffic light .... FFS! Suppose it could have been worse if I had been near the sea side - could have been a sea gull dropping turds the size of elephant sh*t! Needless to say, targa is back on at the mo! (and have cleaned the seat...) Cheers!

Chroming!
:D I should get around to taking some pics this week (and keep them work safe!) LOL To be honest, the quality of the chroming is absolutely top notch - this stuff won't be peeling off in a hurry! Cheers!

Chroming!
No worries mate - speak soon! Regards, Danny

Chroming!
The place I use will do them - no problem. They do a lot of Jaguar E-type bumpers amongst other things. The only thing is that they are currently innundated with work and you won't see you bits for about 4-5 weeks (!?) If you want I can give you the contact details (they are located near J2 of the M6). Cheers!

Midlands Meet - March 27th
Mark - I posted directions earlier in this thread so have a look back at page 2 or 3 (I think). I'll be bringing my ConZult so can have a look for you. Meet will start from 12 noon and run however long we are there for (usually about 3 - 4 hours including time for a meal). DISCLAIMER: Although I'm more than happy to check your cars with my ConZult I do want to have some time to chat and gawk at your cars as well (unlike some previous meets where I've been doing non-stop ConZult checks). Cheers!

Howling???
Howling: Check where in the boost range this noise occurs. If it is at 0psi boost then it is most likely the "goosehonk" and has to do with the recirc valves. You'll most likely have an aftermarket airfilter fitted (take the panel between the headlights off and if it is a cone-shaped affair then you've got an aftermarket filter, if the space is filled with a big black box then you've got the stock airbox). Read somewhere that if you replace the recirc valves with new ones the "honk" goes away - but by bother, it's not loud or harmful to the car. Boost: this is more difficult to find out. (a) look at the ECU to see if it has an aftermarket chip in it (not recommended if you don't know what you're doing) or (b) try and see if the car has boost jets fitted in the lines feeding the actuators or perhaps it has new hoses plumbed in for a boost controller ... Best to let someone who knows what they're looking for have a look to be sure. HTH Regards,

Time for a new exhaust!!
Ok - I'm going to get a little bit ahead of myself here ... but I'm in final negotiations with a certain company to become a distributor for Mongoose exhausts. This should be in place and finalised in the next two weeks or so and from that point forward you will be able to purchase Mongoose exhausts through DTA-Motorsport (UK). I'm also looking to supply just the stainless steel cat-back pipes and then offering different mufflers and tip designs. Obviously this will take some more time to put together but it's in the pipeline so to speak. Can't give an indication on price just yet as I'm still negotiating, etc. Will keep you informed on the progress with posts in the DTA-Motorsport section of the Traders Forum. Cheers!

Midlands Meet - March 27th
Sorry to hear that Matt ... I'm still up for this Saturday as I've had to promise the wife all sorts of things to get a few hours away with the Z-brigade (on a shopping day ...) and don't fancy having to back track at this late stage ... would never hear the end of it. Not sure about the 4th but will check later today. Cheers!

Aluminum Guage Rings
Hi Ted, I'm "pretty" sure you are not the company I get the chromed aluminium speedometer rings from ... as I get them from the other side of the globe! However, please send me an e-mail (dannyzaat@yahoo.co.uk) or phone me on +44 7044 016586 for a chat as I may have some business to throw your way. Looking forward to hearing from you. Regards,

Air-Con Controller Fault
Or if there is someone with a Z near you just put the suspect units on the other car and see what happens. If the display lights up then you know you've got a loom/amp fault. If nothing happens then the display "may" be faulty.

Uprated anti roll bars, your opinions?
Hi Mark, From my own experience (in a TVR Tuscan S with uprated suspension - incl. anti roll bars) the car's cornering is a lot flatter indeed. The body roll is greatly reduced which in turn allow for increased adhesion by all four tyres (as the forces are more equally distributed). I did not find that the handling limit was suddenly upon me because "feel" was lost. It was actually quite to the contrary ... I could judge much better when the limit was reached and once I went beyond that point it was far easier to maintain the car's composure and not suddenly loose it. I'm not sure what the exact handling characteristics of our 14 year old Zeds will be under "normal" driving conditions versus my experience on a race track in the TVR. However, if you are going to upgrade the anti-roll bars then do both front and back so you don't introduce an imbalance in the setup. Not sure if the above is of any help but my suggestion is that if you're looking for increased cornering performance whilst keeping the handling neutral then go for it and get some uprated anti-roll bars. I'm actually looking into sourcing these (as a new product for DTA-Motorsport) so let me know if I can be of any assistance. Cheers!

Chroming!
Hey mate, I've just had a load of "under the bonnet" stuff chromed (bonnet stay, radiator brackets, balance bar, fuel rail, battery holders, etc). Price wasn't too bad so if you're interested I can sort this out for you. I'm in Birmingham so not too far from you. I'm hoping to have the bits on the engine by the meet in Solihull next Saturday. If you're coming you can have a look-see! Alternatively we can always meet up at some point. Let me know. Regards,

Toyo Proxes T1-S tyres
FYI: mytyres hold all their high performance tyres in a warehouse in Germany - hence the long delivery time (occasionally). Apparently tyre prices (wholesale) are a lot cheaper on the continent than they are on this island ... Must agree - I have Toyo Proxes on all for corners of my car and they are superb! I would almost say they rival Bridgestone S-O2/S-O3's and that's saying a lot! But contrary to Andy Duff's observation about quick wear - mine are still fine after 5k miles of often "spirited" driving (I must drive like a granny then by some standards ... :)) ;)

Balance Bar O rings
You shouldn't have to but it depends on their condition. I'm replacing mine because they look like they're the original (now 14 years old) ones and I'm slowly changing everything for new.

Whats the best Nissan Blue?
Here you go - more pics of our Demo ZX: Clicky Here! We had it at Billing last year and I'm looking to get it over for JapFest on the 22nd of May. It's an awsome car, full WingWest body kit (polyurethane rather than fibreglass), custom DTA exhaust, headers, engine management, etc, etc. Cheers!

Balance Bar O rings
Cheers Jon - I'll PM you in a moment :) I got a spare one off a breaker and had it chromed locally. Did it at the same time as my rad brackets, fuel rail, battery holders and bonnet prang. If there is interest in this then I can see if I can offer this service on an exchange basis. Price for getting the balance bar chromed was around £30 + VAT and took 3 weeks (very busy place as they do lots of work for Land Rover and Jaguar classic cars). I'll put a pic up of the finished product at the weekend. Regards,

Balance Bar O rings
Have you got the dimensions to hand? I am in need of a full set as well as I'm replacing my stock balance bar with a nicely chromed one :) Cheers!
