Blinging started
Sorry Scott - I was talking to a colleague named Mike at the time of writing that ... Doh! :slap: I did something similar the other day - was standing in the office kitchen writing what I thought was my name on my lunch before putting it in the fridge. Come lunch time I go to said fridge to find my lunch missing with just the yellow sticky left saying "William" in my handwriting. Turns out I wrote his name on the bit of paper because I was talking to him ... Must be more careful about things like that. Anyway - I'll see your order when it comes through. Cheers mate!

Driven: BMW X5 4.8iS - WOW!!
Yesterday afternoon I helped a friend pick up his new ride from the dealer - an Aston Martin DB9 (!) We went in his X5 and I drove it back to his lair in the Cotswolds. OMG! This has got to be the best 4x4 I've ever driven. 360bhp, the ultimate in gadgets, oodles of grip and torque, crisp handling, good looks, massive 22" Kahn alloys, lovely V8 exhaust note ... dare I say it, I enjoyed driving the Beemer more than I do my Zed  If it wasn't for the price (this one cost him a shade under £70k two months ago) I'd go out and buy me one today - it's that good. Alas, my money tree died a few months ago and now have to resort to printing my own (just in case the old bill is reading this ... I'm only kidding ...). I'm not a big fan of BMW's but this one is defo a cut above the rest (incl. the new Range Rover - sorry Tony ;)) Anyone else ever driven one? Had a go in the Aston as well afterwards (just a quick blast around the block) and that's pretty amazing as well. He's a lucky guy - his garage includes the above two vehicles, a Brabus SL600 (or whatever they call it), a Ferrari F50 (currently being "looked after" by Verdi of London after an unfortunate incedent with a curb) and a Fiat Stilo (???!) Guess being a games developer pays well these days ... I'm in the wrong job! Sorry for this not being Z related but I'm still on a high from yesterday. CheerZ! Danny

Studley Warwickshire
Hi, Black ZX, reg: H***N?R, dump valves, loud exhaust. Seen you from my livingroom window (corner of Allendale Avenue/Tom Towns Lane) turning left onto Tom Towns Lane at around 1.30pm yesterday. My wife says she's seen you driving there before. Are you local or just using the road as a short cut to get past the roadworks on the Alcester Road? Cheers! Danny

NZR: Mobile phone signal booster
Hi all! Pretty much like the title states ... at our new property (rural) mobile phone reception (Vodafone in particular) is dubious at best and non existent at worst. I've heard of signal jammers (such as "illegally" used at certain cinema's and hospitals) but does anybody know if a signal booster exists. I am not falling for the thin magnetic strip "stick on" types as advertised on ebay and other stores but would like something that would enhance the existing signal and broadcast that throughout the property. I've spoken to our new neighbours and they would be willing to chip in if we could get a device that broadcasts the signal around the neighbourhood. You'd probably need a licence for that though ... Anyway - long story short - does anyone know if this type of product exists and if so where to get it from. Many thanks! Danny

Brake lines
BF Goodridge don't actually have the spec to supply the lines with the locators (believe me, I've spent days trying to sort this out with them) ... However, my supplier - who gets the braided brake lines from BF Goodridge - supplies and fits the line locators before sending the kits out to me! Currently DTA-Motorsport are the only company that they sell these kits to ... These kits are the correct spec for all 90-96 Z32's, fit both TT's and NA's without any problem and can be supplied with brake fluid of your choice. From experience, a kit supplied without the line locators runs the risk of being an MOT failure. Several past customers have had MOT trouble because the garage said there could be "chafing" caused by the hose rubbing against other elements ... Personally, I think this is "nit picking" but worthy of a mention. I'll have a couple of these kits back in stock (hopefully) by the end of this week so let me know if you want them ... Price TBC. Cheers! Danny

Induction kits
Can do you a twin A'PEXi induction kit with custom made stainless steel piping. No price indication yet (as I've not had one made up yet) but have the resources to get this done. However, like stated before, twin intake is only usefull if you're chasing mega bhp and then only if you do it right by having two separate intake filters feeding two separate airflow meters and have a custom made chip/engine management system (plus all the peripherals like bigger injectors, uprated fuel pump and regulators, etc, etc). A'PEXi kits are on their way and should be back in stock by the end of the week. Price = £100 + £5 p/p for members of this forum. Cheerio! Danny

New ZX Owner
Hi there and welcome to (a) the UK and (b) our forum! Looking at the pictures you put up you most certainly have a HKS induction kit on your car. These types of filters are not meant to be cleaned because they will usually disintegrate and pass all sorts of rubbish into your airflow meter and engine's internals. You have a choice: (a) buy a new replacement HKS foam filter (Chris @ GetGreddy can probably get one), or (b) buy yourself a much better filter and replace the HKS one with an A'PEXi induction kit. These kits have far better filtration qualities and flow through rates than the HKS one (or indeed most other brands). If you are interested in buying one then let me know because I sell A'PEXi induction kits. Price is £100 + £5 postage. I'm afraid I don't know anything about the guage - sorry. Good luck and let me know if you'd like an A'PEXi. Cheers, Danny

Rear side markers
Hi Chris, You can actually feed the wires to the rear side markers through the boot and down to the side markers - I did this on my car and although it takes a lot of patience it does work ... Unfortunately I can't remember where exactly the gap is because I did it over 3 years ago  I've seen other Zeds where the side markers were fed from the rear numberplate lights and the wires passed over the exhaust tie-wrapped to the inside of the bumper - that might work for you ... HTH Cheers! Danny

Red H reg zed in rickmansworth
I used to be down there nearly 4 times a week in my silver J-spec TT (I worked in Denham on contract) and have seen several Zeds: a couple of yellow ones, a silver one with high rear spoiler and a/m alloys and a blue convertible. Thought they were quite common around there - could be wrong I suppose... Cheers, Danny

Bling!
That's done using a special chrome paint. I have a source who can supply that but it costs mega bucks and requires special handling. I remember seeing a Merc in a similar finish a while back. Remember the "aluminium" Jaguar XJ8 prototype which was displayed at various motorshows? That was done using this paint finish. Aluminium itself is dull and polishing large surfaces wouldn't have given it the consistent reflectivity of chrome - so they painted it using this stuff! :) Danny

NZR - PC temperature probes: where to fit?
Thanks for the responses guys! Much appreciated. :D Yes, it's an ASUS A8V Deluxe (WiFi) motherboard and it does have onboard CPU temp monitoring. The probe I described above is indeed for the case temp (I wish the case actually came with some instructions/diagrams - would make life considerably easier). I think I'll place this probe near the top of the case (as suggested). Wonder what the case temp is going to be like - I've got 2 80mm inlet fans and 2 80mm exhaust fans on the case (all high efficiency Vantec jobbies). Stuart - thanks for letting me know about the cpu fan turning off during low loads - I did read that somewhere but forgot. You've saved me a trip to A&E! The project is nearly finished now - most components have been installed and connected but I'm still awaiting delivery of my HIS Excalibur X800XT ICEQ II grafix card - aparently there was a problem with the initial batch which was shipped out from Hong Kong and none of them worked properly! Suppose that's the price you pay for being on the cutting edge of technology ;) Thanks again guys! Danny

NZR - PC temperature probes: where to fit?
Pretty much as the title state. I've got a Jeantech Trinity case which comes with a pre-wired temperature probe. My question is where do I stick it? I want to use it to monitor the CPU temp but am a bit weary of sticking the probe between the chip and the heatsink as I've been led to believe that in order for the h/s to function to its maximum efficiency it needs to have as much area of contact with the chip as possible. The probe is flat and probably wouldn't compromise the contact area too much but I thought I'd ask before I do something I'll regret later. The CPU is an AMD64 3500+ so will run quite hot under load. Thanks in advance for your replies. Cheers! Danny

Thick Question
Yes they do and are not too bright (like PhilD said). If it's not lighting up then the bulb may be at fault - cluster out job to fix it but not too difficult. Cheers. Danny

Learning to fly a microlight aircraft, wohoo!
I've got 18 hours towards my PPL. Haven't got a lot of time to do it at the moment but will be getting back to it in the new year. Have done gliding and chopper flying as well and can vouch for their "buzz" inducing qualities :D Good luck with your training! Danny

Apexi ind kit, bits missing?
Hi Stuart, Not entirely correct ... you can get the proper Z32 kits from the US - I should know as that is where I get most of mine from. It would appear that you were sold a "universal" filter which was not specifically for the Nissan range of cars. I can buy a universal "Nissan" filter from A'PEXi which has 8 holes pre-drilled into the bottom of the filter and all that is required is a gasket to ensure a proper fit to the AFM. This, incidentally, is the same filter as provided in the dedicated Z32 kit minus the gasket and optional stabilizer bars. Just my 2p worth ... Cheers, Danny

cap'n i just dont have the power!
Upgrade ECU first to account for increased fueling/air requirements. And the stock injectors max out at 15psi boost beyond which you start to do serious damage to the internals of the engine. Every car/engine is different from the next and it may be that one car is happy at 14psi whereas the next starts detting at 13.5psi. Cheers, Danny

HELP ME -> FCUKED HEATER MATRIX I THINK
Nick, If you haven't sourced a new heater matrix yet there is a guy in the For Sale section who's selling one for £45 - might be worth looking at. Cheers mate! Danny (PS - your A'PEXi induction kit is on it's way to the UK from my supplier as we speak - I'll call you when it has landen ...)

Rear Strut Brace
Pic attached. Problem is that the machine that manufactures the front (flat) bar is busted and the ETA of a new batch of fronts is around 3-4 weeks time. The manufacturer is going to send me a new style of front bar next week to be evaluated. If it is up to scratch I'll post pics of that and start to take orders (the new style brace is in stock at the distributor). Cheers! Danny
