  11. surprisingly no damage done allthough after draining diesel out and running car it still was pinking its nuts off, owner said it always did pink a little, ffs checked timing and was at 37degrees reset and ok running sweet. its a wonder he hasn't got square pistons, the diesel concentration was not weak believe me I can't believe it ran mayby with the timing advanced helped it chug along either way it won't have done the engine anygood probable aged it 5 years lol. Richard:slap:
  12. Just had an interesting problem on a fellow Zed owner hwo's car started smoking badly, misfiring pinking . he limped to my house and when he got here there was smoke coming from everywhere he thought it was on fire, I looked underneath and the cats were cherry red , you could have put a screwdriver through em like butter..........................................after several tests and checks I can now comfirm its problem was ..........................Diesel ffs so there you have the first Zed to run on diesel allbeit not very well,,, still don't know how he got it to my house , cause it struggled to pull on my driveway. just remember don't let your wife put fuel in your Zed if she drive a diesel.lol:dance:

Richard
  16. you can only get rid of rust if you grind or cut it out, then cos its on a wheel arch which is double skinned you need to seal it from behind as to prevent water getting to the back of the repair otherwise in a months time it will bubble up again try using seam sealer and make sure the lip on arch way is sealed as well as water tends to creep through the arch Richard;)
  17. I'm up for it with silver background indiglo blue uk spec clocks Richard:dance:

Having had several rover tomcats and mg meastro turbo's mg montego turbo etc and spend all day working on them from new when I worked for the rover dealer ship as well as being on every factory course on these cars. you tend to get a bit of a picture of what these cars are like. 1/..m16/t16 engine is a fairly good engine, apart from the uncurable oil leaks permanently 2/...Then they modified the valve seals and valve seat angles several times to stop them burning out. 3/..then the ecu mulifuntion(mems) switch packs pack in so car won't run 4/..turbo model honda gears boxes struggle with power>> bearing failure 5/..changing wheel bearings regular 6/..can't stop wheel vibrations through steering& brake disc's changed regular 7/..factory alarms packing in and going off when ever they want 8/..these cars don't like parking near curbs, they bottom out on towing hook 9/..wind noise uncurable and leaking water in 10/.. window regulars bend like putty 11/.. t16 turbo which has special piston&conrod together not same as n/a but still melt away even on std boost etc etc apart from them they arn't too bad if you get a goodun and give decent performance if you can hold on to the torque steer montego turbo was a scream lol Richard:cry:
  19. try tilting the engine with a jack under it to give a better angle. Richard
