  1. No bling here, just nice and clean. Still looks good IMO :)
  2. Could be the same deal as money vans, i.e. not allowed to stop for security reasons (could be an ambush etc.). Unlikely I know, but they could be stretching the rules. Still funny, you can just imagine the look on the guys face. And when he get's home - "Honey, you'll never guess what happened to me today...." :D
  3. Tell them Lee sent you ;)
  4. Hi Mark, you could try giving VDS Automotive a ring on 01332 814259. They import from Japan (amongst other places) and do everything in-house (conversions, MOT's, SVA's etc.). BTW, I start working for them on Monday so if you do decide to use their services, I'll be valeting it for you :D
  5. Happy birthday Mr P - all the best people are born on this day ;) :D
  6. Cheers everyone! :duffer:
  7. Yes mate, I'll be at the Castle Donington branch, but they are not actually based at the circuit any more - they're at the Trent Lane industrial estate just up the road. Give me a few weeks to settle in before you visit though!!
  8. By the way, they have a newly imported GT-R in the workshop. I'm praying it needs delivering somewhere next week LOL!!
  9. As some of you may know, I recently secured myself a job at Perfection Detailing, doing what I love (detailing cars). Unfortunately, for a few reasons, the job proved to be not as lucrative as I need it to be. However, last week I went for an interview for a dream position that I got offered within a few hours, and I've been today to finalise the details. As of next Monday I will be working for a global company called VDS Automotive who deal with import/export of vehicles (mainly sports and prestige) all over the world. They also do in-house SVA testing and uk conversions, and all that that entails. Their website is http://www.vdsautomotive.co.uk, which is under construction at the moment, but there is a link to their UK associates existing site. They are a very high profile company and I will initially be doing their valeting and driving, but with the prospect of managing the 'back of house' operations in the near future, along with helping the company to develop their internet advertising and circulation. Also, I'm going to learn more about the SVA side of things as this is what makes this company unique - no-one else in the uk can offer such a complete service all in-house. If you're seriously interested in importing anything in the near future, let me know as I will definitely be able to help. So, with a good starting salary negotiated today, and the chance to work on - and drive - some VERY nice motors for a prestigious global company, I'm a very happy bunny!! This year is shaping up to be a good one :D
  10. Wow, that's cool :) George W. looks gormless and uninterested as usual (sitting just behind Obama) :D
  11. Pantera - Domination Slipknot - Wait and Bleed Disturbed - Down with the Sickness
  12. I will do mate. I'm working 6 days a week at the moment, and my Sundays are pretty busy too but I'll definitely sort something out soon, haven't seen you for AGES!!
  13. Dude, you HAVE to let me detail this for/with you when it's done. I can't wait to see it. When you're nearly ready we'll have to get together for a consultation (translation:- beer and chat) :D
  14. Clay bars are supposed to only remove surface contaminents, and not the paint itself. If you are unsure there are mild clays available just to be on the safe side (for example - http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/detailing-clay/sonus-green-ultra-fine-clay-refill/prod_327.html) The best way to prep paint before a wax application would be to clay first, rinse and dry, then use a primer cleaner such as Dodo Juice Lime Prime (http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/dodo-juice/dodo-juice-lime-prime-250ml/prod_441.html). This enables the wax to bond properly with the paint, and adds to the gloss. I've used waxes with and without a primer, and it definitely looks/works better with the primer. And no, I'm not on commission :D
  15. I'd take photos of it and post them up on a popular car related internet forum. :p
  16. I had one from 2fast2cool too, loved it!! Made the shift just right for me :)
  17. Chin up mate, my window business went tits up when the new build construction industry started to struggle. I've been doing bits and bobs just to survive for 6 months now but I've had to shut it all down, leaving me with some nasty debts. The 'silver lining' to this story is that I'm starting what could quite possibly become my dream job on Monday (top level car valeting/detailing) - so you never know what the future might bring. Sh1t happens, but you'll look back and laugh one day. HTH :)
  18. Thanks for all the comments guys :)
  19. I've just got back from a meeting/interview with Perfection Detailing ( http://www.perfection-detailing.co.uk ) and, to cut a long story short, I start working for them on Monday!! I will be running a fixed valeting site at a car dealership in Northamptonshire (A5 Car Sales near Towcester) where I will be valeting all the site cars, as well as private customer cars. Also, in time, the gaffer, Neil, will be training me in all aspects of paint correction and top level detailing so that I can help him out with that when necessary. This job came about while I was on holiday in Cyprus and I have been wishing for something good to come of it, and today it has. This could be the first step to my dream job so I am really excited (and a little nervous) right now. So excited that I thought I'd share it with you guys :D
  20. Waxoyl is good stuff, but it's best done in the summer. Clean the underbody off using a pressure washer, then leave it overnight to dry out properly, before liberally applying the waxoyl. The reason for this is that any trapped water will never get out and can have worse effects than if it wasn't waxoyl'ed. HTH
