box hill
Yep it was good to meet some of you folks and a nice brisk convoy down to brighton, Ended up in the Surf Shop ( thanks for the info James) got a new board /fins/ wetty. cool. Had a great time watching the waves from the beach , had some fish and chips and headed back about 6pm. First time the Mrs has been on a car related run/event and she really enjoyed it. Car ran well and behaved itself. Had a nasty Road rager in Croydon, which was a big downside to the day, got cut up badly at a set of lights by some asian bloke in a Primera, who then started playing silly by driving at 20 mph and slamming on his brakes, then he beckoned me past , and swerved out to cut me up. After a while he stopped his car and got out to have a bit of verbal, so I got out and he scuttled back into his car and shut up.Thought we had seen the last of him but a few miles further on he ended up behind me , flashing his lights and attempting to use his car as a weapon. thankfully the Z is somewhat of a better car when it comes to handling and power and I lost him convincingly at the Purley interchange. the bloke was a nutter, And I still dont know what upset the prat in the first place. but such is life. :xxx: And we wonder what causes accidents like the one on the Motorway , sometimes its just crazy. Still were not going to let that ruin our drive outs, so...... DEffo up for the next one.  Ken and Ruth.

Japanese performance show
Ill be there , looking forward to it. Someone needs to organise a club parking area if its gonna be official. Last year was really good, watch out for some of the less scrupulous traders though, my daughter bought herself a dvd that she thought was shrek, turned out to be a rip off copy that was U/s, same bloke was selling other useless tuning crap that looked very dodgy and cheaply made. If I clock him this year FACT will get his reg no. Ripping off little kids, *******! ======================================================

Billing Pics - Mass Merge
Thanks for a great time, and a very good turn out. my fourth year at billing, but the first with the 300 club. Excellent. My personal awards. Most anally retentive Club - 350z Most anally retentive bloke- Chelsea Farmer - Get orrf moi laand (350z) Wildest party(x3)- SXOC Best looking girly - dark haired girl at the HKS stand. Top Bloke award - Topless, went out of his way to make us welcome. Nice Z- well a good many of them, but Crazy Eddies had clean lines and nicely understated, the white Nismo wide arch - mmmmm niice. Stupid Twat award - the bloke with the puke green Mondeo who decided donutting around the CRX stand was cool until he wacked another car. 300zx is still more of a car than a 350z will ever be.

Stalling when slowing down ?
I am leaning towards the idea that the car has and air leak somewhere on the intake system, since if you take the air filters out it runs even worse. soon as the filters go back in the idle stabilises.

DVLA trying to outlaw modded cars
:D  Oh yeah, Im a churchgoer and I think freedom of choice is paramount, so I support modding 100% . I have owned a lot of custom motorbikes, choppers , lowriders and sports bikes, along with my fairly modded 200sx, and now my 300. Most properly modded cars / bikes are more cosseted, looked after, cherished and cared about than virtually any car on the road. The amount of money and time that goes into them usually means the owners tend to be fairly responsible. Insurance companies also are starting to agree with this as some are reducing premiums for modded cars. So lets not let these whitehall meddlers destroy another way of life. ;)

DVLA trying to outlaw modded cars
Picked this up off the SXOC site , might be worth taking the time to answer these questions before its too late. found on GTROC !! DVLA trying to legislate against modding ! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/s...ead.php?t=24969 The DVLA are putting together a paper to tighten up the SVA test and make it apply to more cars, I.e modded ones, if yu put on a kit, SVA test, if you do an engine swap, SVA test, If you lower it etc... basically modding will become a thng of the past, as will rb25 implants, and all the other cool stuff we get up to. Please take the time out to fill iin the most longwinded form ever on their site, this is going to the commons soon, so WE need to act now. Apparently the peeps who have actioned for this are the likes of the Christian groups and greenies. You can make a difference... Alternatively click this Link to go there. http://www.dvla.gov.uk/public/consu.../vi_summary.htm there is a column of sections on the left side and at the bottom is the "have your say bit"

Stalling when slowing down ?
I shifted into nuetral when the car started to stall, revs picked up immediatly, so it only seems to happen under load. still runs lumpy when cold though. So now when I come to a queue or a set of lights when the car is cold I shift to neutral before I get there , no problem even when braking hard.

Auto Gearbox.......heeeellllpppppp!!!
If you want advice on whats going on with the box, try talking to Haj at Old Forge Garage ( its in Belvedere in Kent) describe the fault and see what he makes of it, he did the box on my 200sx 3 years ago after I blew up the torque converter , and up untill i took the engine out its been perfect, the garage does not look all that but hes very good.(not cheap but good)) 01322 431158. If you are unhappy with the repair then get an independant inspection by the AA or RAC and try to get your money back or the repair done properly.

Stalling when slowing down ?
If you suss this out mate let me know , im trying to solve the same problem. It has been posted before, but through lots of advice no resolution was posted. :( . Im replacing the 4 rubber pipes with hardpipe kit soon as I have some splits in the hoses. Im also pretty sure I have no vacuum leaks. although my auto box is playing up. It almost seems like an intermittent electrical fault, like power is being lost for a short while, when cold hard braking , engine stalls, sometimes when just at operating temp. I cleaned out the air bypass valve that seemed to help when warm. Ill keep in touch if I get to the bottom of it first.

Auto box fault code
Ive done two things now , which seem to have helped, I cleaned the Air Bypass valve and refitted it, then bumped the idle speed by 100-150 rpm, the engine now fast idles when cold , and although there is still a stumbling/ missing when cold, as soon as it reaches operating temp this dissapears totally. took it up to the Jap performance sunday in Hickstead yesterday ( the only Z that turned up!) and it ran very well, almost perfect. However I had to do a sharp stop today and it stalled ( and there was me thinking I had it sussed). Any other suggestions folks? auto ECU still showing fault code three.

Auto box fault code
Ok, idi the pin check as described in the manual, unfortunatley my multimeter has gone a bit nuts as I dropped it on the way over to the car :mac1: . However it got a reading of 0.35 volts when throttle pedal untouched, and increased to about 3.5 volts when depressed slowly, but they may not be accurate figures, sometimes it read more sometimes less. but it is reading .

Auto box fault code
Not going to be able to check that until I get home. And locate the box ECU. as soon as I get back I intend to . Ill keep you posted. cheers

Auto box fault code
Ok - main ECU check had no codes, I was thinking that the connecter at the gearbox end maybe disconnected. symptoms that caused me to do the diagnostic in the first place were stalling when slowing to a stop when vehicle is cold, rpm drops from 7-850 to 50 rpm, and either stalls or picks back up. as if the box is dragging or the engine stumbling. when the vehicle warms up the problem is no where near so severe, and after about 2 miles of driving is virtually undetectable. If in heavy traffic it seems to stumble at times but not consistantly(. If the grey plug on the TPS is disconnected the car reverts to backup idle, if the black connecter is disconnected from the TPS it makes little or no difference, if both are disconnected the idle speed rises to about 1000 rpm . The TPS voltage is set to 0.45volts when closed.

Auto box fault code
Hi, just did an auto box self diagnostic and it came up with a code , 3, throttle sensor disconnected/shorted. Now the car has a brand new TPS, which is set up correctly and reads the correct volts etc when closed, both cables seem well connected at the top end , does anybody know if there is a multiplug on the box and if so- where should I be looking for it, and are there any continuity tests I can do to try and trace the fault. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance

Members, can anyone supply banners at all!
Have a word with the SXOC they had a banner made up last year for Billing which was quite smart, they could probably point you in the right direction at least. I will bring my 20ft free standing flag pole with Nissan and jap flags, I will see if I can make a 300zx.co.uk. flag to go atop the pole. :D
