  1. Is the ashspec a re programed standard ecu ?, this is something I think I am going to have to do later this year but it will probably have to be by the cheapest means available
  2. No heads do not have to come off, all connectors and harness on top of engine, coil packs, plenum, rad and cowling, fan, front belts, cas, timing covers, main crank pulley, timing belt, (might as well replace water pump timing belt and idle rollers when your in this far), rocker covers, cams. I'm sure I missed a few things, it took me 1 1/2 to get to this stage spent 3 days cleaning tappets 2 days putting it back together which was not as much fun
  3. checking the voltage when cranking should be more than enough to point you in the direction of whats wrong, if it has a dead cell or is just plain dead the voltage will be way down on what its suposed to be
  4. sounds like battery or bad connection either earth or live, faulty starter could click but would not set off alarms etc thats the voltage dropping down too far while cranking, get a volt meter on the battery.
  5. Was just thinking the same and as for the folk from up in scotland
  6. Like this one http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=917346
  7. start with the things you have, remove the coil pack thats known to be not working, remove the plug and clean it in case its fouled up, swap the coil pack and plug with another cylinder thats easy to get at and you know is working ok, check to see if the problem transfers its self to the new cylinder or goes away, if its still not working on the original cylinder check the connectors on the coil pack and the injector they tend to corrode and the connectors go very brittle. Its a case of elimination but you may as well start at the easy end first, after that if you have no luck your onto the loom the ptu and compression check
  8. its to do with flow and pressure not just one on its own, a small turbo may flow 200cfm at 16psi and be out of its efficiency range, a bigger turbo could be flowing 200cfm by 7psi so you cant use pressure on its own to work out when injectors will be maxed out
  9. HAHA Its ok its a zed they make you doubt everything in life
  10. In 5th its the crank, gearbox and diff that are going to take the strain not the belt, and seeing as Mr Nissan decided to give the Z nearly 300hp out the box I really wouldn't worry about breaking anything with your torque wrench
  11. side ways is the way to go, down could lead to problems. Oil starvation in the sump with regards oil not retuning quick enough from the heads has been raised with the ca18det as it can suffer the same problems and has a history of killing bearings
  12. Enlarge the sump and you need to put a baffle in with a trap door, your dry sump set up looks fantastic.
  13. 45deg should work looking at the pic you will need the outlet of the sc cut back so the 45 is as close to the body as possible, cool engine swap keep us updated
  14. If you alter the outlet of the sc to have a 45deg coming out directly from behind the main sc body should give you enough room to get another 45 onto the plenum you would have to get the 45 welded directly onto the sc outlet Side entry plenum would be best have a look at the design of the single turbo vg plenum's, I think the cima set up is what would look best with the TB facing in the direction of the sc outlet, not ideal from a flow point of view Do you not want to run a fmic and take the outlets to either side of the car ?
  15. Get your self a new water temp sensor for the ecu and then set the base idle following the instructions in the manual or search on here and if your car is not running 100% its best to not go adding mods to it as you could just be creating more problems along the way.
  16. count the number of V on the belt
  17. You can never say never but it wouldn't be fair just yet as I'm not finished with it, If what I have planned goes to plan I could make another :D
  18. Dont take this the wrong way but dead Z's are cheap and 400hp is easily obtained, every one and their aunt has done rb conversions to death, I couldn't afford a 2jz or ls1 and the thing that really got me thinking were the American conversions which all said you couldn't do it and keep both the turbo's in the standard location, you can ! you just have to move everything else :D There is a thread running on nico where some one has said they can do it and are going to make a kit but its been an ingoing sage for over a year and no kit, they are making custom front sub frame and sat the engine alot further forward, I had a budget of very little and had to pretty much bend chop and alter what I had, I do have a very good friend who likes the electrical side of things so getting it up and running luckily wasn't a problem.
  19. Funnily enough it sounds like a zed with a single exit exhaust lol, I have a pipe that goes into the center of the back box and effectively cuts out the main rear box and gives it a bit of a growl, a video is in order though and long over due, Its going back into the garage soon to be pulled apart again I have a few more things to do to it and as it now thinks its a zed the engine has to come out to change a fuse, I have more room at the top of the engine than the zed does but thats it, every where else is a lot tighter. Oh yea handles fine, I kept the engine as far back as I could.
  20. Thats interesting, its the depth the original goes down to and the distance it is away from the engine at the bottom thats the problem for me, I am currently on the trail of a NA oil filter bracket as I thought it may be different, a filter relocation block straight onto the engine with hoses coming away from it would be great, and I didn't think about that, does the vg30det just have a threaded center ? don't suppose you have a picture of one without the filter on ?
  21. Fit bigger turbo's, remove it out the road of a manifold, or in my case its for steering joint alterations
  22. Does any one know of a company that makes a plate to relocate the whole oil filter assy and not just the filter ie do away with the oil tree ? cheers
  23. Thanks, there are plenty of not so good looking pictures during the middle of the swap where I was nearly ready to torch it
  24. Take a huge amount of weight off a 300 and run it at 1bar :D , yup it goes rather quickly, I used two r32 intercoolers from 2.5 skyline, tubs are kinda on there last legs now. Yes that would be my brother I guess as I dont know of another tt vg30dett 200 in this country
  25. yup I did it I'm the guilty one Its not easy but it depends on what you call hard I guess http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/fry1/06082007071.jpg
