There definately is a 5th gear map, I'm presuming there's a sensor on the box to say the car is in 5th, or maybe it knows from the revs/speed relationship?

Auto chips have a 5th gear map too, but in stock and JWT the 5th gear map and the normal map are both identical (so is the det map in JWT!) I think the difference is in the code section of the ROM, but I've never dissasembled it for a look. If you're interested in looking at the maps etc. I did an excel spreadsheet that will pull out all the useful stuff and show it in a useable way (i.e. TP translated to pulsewidth etc.) There's an old verison in my rides section but I've done a new one which writes the changes back, allows you to cut and paste maps etc. PM me if you want it.
  3. Cheers Mac, I'll give him a ring today!
  4. OK, cheers. I thought it was a stripped out lightweight version - unfortunately not!
  5. Does anyone know what a version S is? Seen a few for sale at jap auctions while looking at new cars? CheerZ
  6. Royztt, cheers but I can't be bothered doing the auto to manual conversion, not too sure of the condition of some of the bits anyway. Also don't like white!! Ta John
  7. Cheers again everyone, already looking for a new one. Andy - probably going to keep the g/box for a spare for the time being. Problem is that I've no idea if the box took any damage druing the crash. Casing is certainly OK, but the output shaft may have taken a knock as the transmission tunnel was a bit bent
  8. Cheers guys (& girl!). Puts things in perspective when 2 ft either way and I wouldn't be sitting here typing this - we hit the tyres instead of going under the trailer. Got most of the bits for spares (engine, box, diff etc). Wheels / brakes / exhaust were OK and rear shocks. The guy wasn't covered on my insurance but he's going to replace the car. Problem's getting another man SWB that's in as good condition, then putting all the work in again ...
  9. Gave a mate a shot in my Z while on holiday back up in scotland and he wrote it off :( To be fair, wasn't really his fault, tractor turned right as we were overtaking and we hit the silage trailer and actually knocked it over. Both walked out thank god pretty much unscathed other than my cracked breast bone. Now faced with another 6 month delay to get a SWB man TT unless anyone's selling a good 'un? Had to spend my whole holiday stripping it to a shell so I could get rid of it and not leave the wreck at my parents house - man that was a heartbreaking job. Gutted TBH, but at least I'll save a fortune in fuel over the next few months
  10. Mark, Asked NGK US and UK about alternatives. AFAIK PFR7B-11B was never produced (the 6 is US cold, their standard is a 5). US were pretty unhelpful really, just saying you can use most of the other plugs but the design is not the same - oh really?! Once I've finished playing with maps I'll probably try the BKR7EVX or IX just depending on which looks like the closest match. Anyone got an old PFR6B-11B to measure up for comparison?
  11. Sure I read somewhere about stalling under braking being due to faulty PCV valves, might be worth a go.
  12. Mark, There isn't a PFR7B-11B (or C), I checked with NGK. There official line is that the only colder plug with identical protrusion to PFR6B-11B is R7235-8 but that's an 8 heat range! According to NGK technical BKR*EIX-11 and BKR*EVX-11 both have longer protrusion, but the pics someone posted on TT net don't back that up. Do you know the difference in length (seat to top of electrode) between -11B & -11C? The ZFR7F-11 I've got now are 2mm longer than -11C. I've got a mate to get me a BKR7EVX-11 to look at and see what the difference is there. CheerZ
  13. ABS may not stop wheels locking up on loose surface, maybe gravel etc. If your inside wheel is on gravel could be that. I just disconnected mine because I don't like it anyway.
  14. Cheers James, but if I'm going to do that I'll just get BBS to put a new rim on it.
  15. Yes, they are unfortunately but I might try it anyway. CheerZ
  16. After one of the best drives I've ever had in the Z last night, I kerbed a wheel dropping my passenger off:mad: Anyone know the best thing to touch it up with until I can get it re-rimmed?
  17. Good question Andy, I forgot to measure the pots on the old callipars before I sold them so I don't know! The brembo pistons are much bigger though - I'd guess 30%
  18. Yeah Mike, the brakes are a huge improvement. Honestly the best mod I've done. Give you so much more confidence on the twisties :) Worth more than all the power you can add, just make it more usable. Car's definately alot quicker since I tweaked the maps, but RR session soon should see what difference it's actually made.
  19. Lol! Cheeky bastard. They do work, just have to push the pedal a bit further than I'd like. Actually I did fit cheap EDC reds because it's all I could get at short notice. Nearly gone after 2000miles!
  20. Cool, drop me a PM sometime when you've got it back and we can have the smallest Z meet ever :D
  21. Anyone else found that their brakes seem to work better if you give a light push on the pedal before you brake properly. I'm guessing that this is just normal pad knock back, but seems worse since fitting GTR stuff (bigger pistons, so more fluid to push out?). Was going to buy some residual pressure valves to try out - anyone else noticed this or tried the valves? CheerZ
  22. Hi Deano, Thought I was the only one too! Use mine mainly weekends/nights got a clio for through the day :( Is your's a red one? Saw the back end of a red one disappear round a corner a few days ago! Pics of mine in the rides section if you wanna look. Definately need to meet up some time soon. Cheers John
  23. I had some made by syko racing . Worked out cheaper than ordering the nismo ones. Another alternative is to use ford ones but you'll need new nuts because the thread pitch is different. Johnny at GPS put me on to someone he uses for this but my wheels have very strange nuts which were 6 week delivery from BBS so didn't go that route. The ford ones are dirt cheap and fit perfectly apparently. Syko
  24. Cool Ian, guess they won't work on mine as well as on your's with the bigger intercoolers, but gotta be worth a shot :D The fuel map that's in mine is v. similar to the SE one, just a bit richer at the top end so maybe some more fuel in the middle might help. CheerZ
  25. Anyone out there who's using a super AFR and made good improvements tell me what settings they use and what chip? I've heard good results (MAC1) and figure if I know roughly what enrichment / leaning you're using I can adjust my fuel map to match it and see what happens. Tweaked the timing map a bit and that made a real difference, but all the maps I've seen for fuelling are really pretty similar. Particularly at the low/mid rev range nobody seems to adjust it much from stock. Dunno if this is because stock is V. good or more likely because more mid range torque dosen't affect the bhp figure that they use to sell the chips. CheerZ
