In-car computer install. Advice needed!
Rather than get a custom build- perhaps you could use a handheld like an ipaq, but guess you then got software compatibilty and conectivity issues. Maybe laptop in the boot- with long lead to the zed port and another to a small screen and mini keyboard. Good luck- sounds like an interesting project. :)

Reading meet Tuesday 15th June 2004
I'll be leaving Taplow at 7pm coming down M4 so will probably go straight there as easier to get off at J12. Have ya got a gas soldering iron I can borrow? Baggins is bringing me down a resistor so that I can bodge up my motor to lose the saftey boost. AL

Oxfordshire meet..13th June.
Jonny- sorry to hear about your loss- and I know how you feel with the time factor on the zed- I got so much that I need to do on it, but neither time or money at the mo. See if you can get down to the Reading meet tomorrow night for an hour- will do you good taking your mind off things briefly. I'm working late so will be down there about 19:20. Alternatively, if you wanna get out the house some time, I'll join you for a beer and a chat in the White Horse or Gardners Arms. AL :)

Baggins- Follow on advice needed please
Short and sweet- I guess I'd already answered my own questions Think I'll chuck in the resistor for the mo until I get the cash together for the major work. Any ideas where I can get the resistor? Is it specialised or can I just get it from somewhere like maplins or RS?

Baggins- Follow on advice needed please
Hi Ryan Thanks for your help today- it was much appreciated. Just trying to remember what we talked about regarding the knock sensor. So we found out that I have a faulty knock/detonation sensor (I take it that its the same thing). And that a wire was cut/snapped on the knock det sensor connector. I have patched that cable back up, but still get error 34. Managed to get it back to 55- all clear then went round the block and it went back to 34 again. The question really is how do I find out if this is caused by a faulty sensor or whether it is suffering from det. If it is suffering from det, then I guess I need to address that problem. It could also be wiring problem as it is all in bad nick but as far as I can see, there are no other breaks in the wires. There was talk today of using a resistor to get round the problem, but I understand there is a possible risk when doing this. So, saying its worse case- have to have the engine out to do the sensor, where's the best place to take it to? Bearing in mind, while its out, I'll have cambelt, pump, hoses etc done as well. + the loads of other bits that I know need doing. Cheers AL :D

Jae 2004 Update
On the official JAE order form it has a section for individual cars, but the tickets get sent to the clubs address wherever that may be and the club is then to distribute the tickets. All sounds too complicated. Think I'll just pay on the gate. Is that how most are doing it? If there is a way of simply ordering tickets in advance, I would be interested as this allows you to use the fast-track entrance rather than queuing with the many. Could somone from the club clarify the details of ordering tickets step by step for us dummys. :)
