  1. A pukka chip has a sticky JWT printed label with a serial number usually written by hand. This may have fallen off, so it could be anything really. All the AMD stuff printed on it is just the manufacturer of the device itself, nothing to do with the information it contains (like a cd etc)
  2. Nice. 5 spokes have got to be the best. Make sure you get the offset right !

    1. Probably only the clutch plate. Std part less than £100 and £150-ish to fit 2. Cybercraft and/or Z Centre 3. MJP (01277) 374201 and probably Z Centre too 4. T25 I think. T28 are used in 200sx

Mine were also similarly 'spot on' whilst I had the converter box, but now I have the UK spec clocks they overread by a fairly consistent 4-6mph. One day I will fix it ...

Nope, the limiter is in the ECU - trust me ! Jap is limited to 180kph, UK to 155mph. Aftermarket ECU maps always modify the limiter. (Remember the post about ECU tuning for everyone) One of the 'other' ways to remove the limiter is to get a little black box between the speedo and the ECU on the speed sensor signal line. When most cars are converted from Jap spec they put the black box before the speedo, so that both the speedo effectively displays MPH and the ECU is fooled into thinking it's going slower than it actually is.
  6. This was mine :- http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=3971#post3971 Proving then, as now, that I'm gadget man !
  7. Impossible to guess what it might cost. You need to get that head off in order to assess the damage. Good luck, you may need it.
  8. So, just to be clear, you said :- "No6 piston low compression,80psi dry test+100psi wet,all other pistons reading around 145psi" Does that mean No6 tested 80psi dry and over 100psi wet, or 180psi wet ? If it's only a little over 100 then the problem is likely to be topend rather than piston seals. So a rebulid of one head, or even just a head gasket replacement may be all you need.
  9. Slave cylinder will be found on the end of the clutch activating arm (you'll find it easily if you look underneath) and the master cylinder will be on the front of the bulkhead, directly attached to the resevoir.

That's correct (although your clocks are probably quite inaccurate) becuase the Jap ECU is limited to 180kph (~112mph), however, if you put a speedo convertor on it then it changes the signal to report the equivalent of 180mph. Now that you've changed the clocks you need to change the ECU too !
  11. Could have been ChrisC running on 3 cylinders whilst stuck in 2nd gear ! ;)

Technically It Ain't What You Do was credited to The Fun Boy Three with Bananarama as backing vocals I think. Anyway, whose side you on - we're trying to wind up Nelson here aren't we ! ;)
  13. You ought to be able to get a freshly imported early one for a reasonable price. My mate has a black '92 J and it is pretty special. Inside is a bit boring though, but the engine sounds good when given some welly.

Yep, remember Bananarama quite well, seem to remember the Fun Boy Three singing the song though !
  15. But that can be resolved ... http://www.aus300zxclub.com/tech/ascd.htm http://www.aus300zxclub.com/tech/ascd92.htm
  16. If it's at a discount I don't care where it comes from. Thinking about a red diesel conversion right now ! LOL Actually heating oil would be better still - must get an old Landrover ....
  17. Nelson, you need to get a better job mate, and stop working for those rip-off petroleum companies ! :D lol
  18. All I can say is I'm amazed. The Griff has a 0-60 of about 4.2 secs (I think), is more powerful, and has considerably less mass (Nelson!) than a Z. I've been in a Griff when driven 'enthusastically' and they are swift ! They also sound awesome !
  19. Yes, they are a company based in Maldon, Essex. UK +44 (0) 1621 858856
  20. Ahh well I have all the gubbins to burn my own chips, just not sure I'm brave enough to trash my own engine though ! And my RPS clutch is being fitted Friday morning .....
  21. FWIW my 30,000 mile car lunched the autobox under a month after the boost being raised. The turbos are still going strong (albeit a little smokey) 35,000 miles later though.
  22. Start from £125 I believe. Not sure whether that includes socketing your ECU. They prefer to fit it for you because then the chips are less likely to be damaged by static etc. Bear in mind that their chips are specifically setup for UK fuel, not sure whether yours will be different. Anyway, if you are searching the world for chips then I think it would be worth considering the HiTech ones from Australia, they are still developing even now. Most companies seem to have stopped a few years ago.
