  1. It may or may not have had the timing retarded, that will depend on whether the individual car needs it. If you buy a decent chip, there will be areas in the map which will have been retarded in order to get optimum performance, plus others where it will have been advances, fuelling changed etc etc, but you won't have the blanket change that is achieved by adjusting the CAS. IMHO, for safety when running 1 bar then you should have an appropriate ECU map.
  2. It's a forum default, dunno why but I expect that the people who wrote it didn't want to be tarred with the Microsoft brush ! My mind is starting to be made up, unless there are significant dissenters then voting will become 'open'. Speak up now if you care.
  3. You're lucky it was payphones - there's hardly any of those left now. If it was mobile phones you'd have been in all sorts of trouble ! :D
  4. Yup, it's dead easy, unless you need a blob of weld on top in order to build up the thickness of the pipe/casting wall.

Is your car auto or manual ? I have some chips for manuals and none of these cost anything (other than the chip itself) and nor is the code stolen.
  6. The truth of the matter is that Admins can do pretty much anything, but trust me we have better things to do than read your PM's or whatever. As far as I know Mods can't do a great deal apart from edit posts etc. and now that we have eliminated our "surplus administrator", then we have preserved integrity of the forum for everyone. At Mike Groves' suggestion I am tempted to remove the voting anonimity for polls but my concern is that all previous polls, some of which were a little imflamatory, will then become viewable by the person who posted the poll - so I'll have to think about that. Suggestions on a postcard please.
  7. Your 300zx weighs about 3219 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 12.7 seconds. That means that you've got about 310.60 HP at the wheels, and about 403.78 HP at the flywheel. OK, so I got the weight from the stats and fudged the time to match the BHP that was measured on the dyno. So who believes that then ?
  8. My turn to be a pedant ! It badly needs mapping, very different from it needs mapping badly. LOL You'll need Pete to do the former and me the later ! LMAO :D
  9. It's bad enough being hit by other cars, but tanks !!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/leicestershire/2980640.stm
  10. Are you lookin' at me ? LOL
  11. Well it has to be pretty close or else stuff like speedo, ABS, traction control will start to get confused. That is why you have to put lower profile tyres on.
  12. Well .... assuming that the rolling diameter is as near as dammit the same as before, then why would the wheels rub, surely this is down to the width and gettng the correct offset ? Harder suspension ? on tyres with virtually no sidewall to absorb the bumps ?? Ouch !
  13. If you want to do really interesting things (well I think so) then you can start playing with the ECU maps.
  14. Now is that the truth, or is this more mind games ! :D

Dammit, just remembered :- http://www.westfieldmotors.co.uk/index.htm Yes, it says Toymota, but they do all sorts of things ...

Have heard of this guy in Colechester who fits the turbos without removing then engine (must do for £500). There are a couple of others, Darren in Kent (if you can get ahold of him - try via Topless) and also another place in Essex, but name escapes me right now - will post in a while.

Would have thought that AndyZ would be a good start. Failing that, one of the other breakers. http://www.300zx.org.uk/breakers.htm
  18. It's probably one of the belts needs tightening, but it could be the water pump.
  19. This is not a democracy ! LOL And the changes won't affect anything you see or do for the moment, but they will probably benefit you all in the long run. Stay tuned !
  20. Not many changes, but as far as I know it was the model produced between approx '94 - '97 http://www.300zx.org.uk/model_variations.htm
  21. At least they're still in business, unlike most of the people you've fallen out with ! :D LMAO :D
  22. I'm sure they are very sticky but as is often said it is very seldom that anyone on the road should get near the performance limits of a tyre. Proxies are considered very grippy, Bridgestones are too, but just a bit softer. I have seen Yokos with 180 and I'm sure track tyres are much lower in many cases. Anyway, take a look at this very interesting page :- http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/testing/UTQG/
