Removal of Gearnob
The manual gearknob unscrews anti-clockwise. However, they are stuck on with threadlock/Loctite, so can be a bugger to get off. I completely trashed my old one by having to use Molegrips !

Did'nt fit!
The engines are actually pretty cheap to repair, looking at approx £1500-2000 for a full rebuild, downside is that you need one every 50-60,000 miles ! Still probably cheaper than a Zed, but they have a habit that would put George Best to shame when it comes to fuel !

Powered Earth Cable?
I have thought about this in the past and came to the conclusion that as long as the original earths are in 100% as new condition then it'll probably make no difference whatsoever. However, as most of them are now 10+ years old then you can make your own minds up, given the condition of the rest of the electrical wiring under the bonnet ! So, it's probably a good thing then ....

You will all be pleased to know...
I shall be pretending to do some work this week, well up 'till Thursday anyway, then I'm also off until the 5th. So plenty of time to fix my car, as long as the bits turn up ....

Speed sensor woes
Sounds to me like you need to verify that the wiring to the speed sensor is good. Get it checked out with a multimeter.

Are there any decent mechanics left in the world?
What about that guy Phil at CS Wood ? Only ever heard good things about him, not sure of his location though ... Isn't he an occasional visitor here ?

Top Gear
I would have though that Gio would be the obvious candidate, but he's got a beard and should obviously avoid Clarkeson ! ;)

Oil pressure problems
Can someone send me a busted one - I'd like to see whether they can be repaired.

FAO Baggins
He asked me to change it for him as he mistyped it when he subscribed originally. The forum s/w actually handles it surprisingly elegantly, not so sure about the rides section though ! If any one else wants theirs corrected/changed then let me know. Also, Baggins, let me know if yours rides section is still accessible ...

Parts price
Sounds a bit steep to me, but they're fairly rare and often damaged so you may not have much choice. Suggest you visit the traders section and ask AndyZ for a 2nd hand part and MJP for a new price, if it's available ...
