No convertor (UK Car) Power steering is fine and odometer is counting up OK

Just took my 91 Z to the mechanic to get her ready for MOT after being parked for last 7 months.(summer Car) I had a host of normal problems and maintenance issues to deal with but I didnt expect my Speedo to stay at 0 mph as I drove th 6 mile journey What could cause this??? ThankZ Roy

Same happened to mine, filter broke up made its way through the box. Lost third gear and above. Required rebuild. Probable solenoid damage due to particles. Unfortunate

Thanks for the help guys. sorry for being a bit vague I meant the oil can be seen dripping from the front edge of the box at the bell housing so i Presumed it was coming from where torque convertor and box meet. Is there any seal inside the box itself or is the main oil seal on the outside between convertor and box ( this would be a relief, do not want to strip box again) Thanks Roy

Can anyone fill me in on what to do next Just got my heater matrix fitted Unfortunately while doing it the mechanic saw Auto gear box fluid leaking between the bell housing and the torque convertor. I had this problem last year(leak that is not sure where it was though) and ended up blowng the box Auto specialist in Dublin (200 miles from me) repaired it under guarantee as it blew 2 years ago also. Unfortuately he has now washed his hands of it and refuses to take in on again however he said I dont need an auto specialist this time as the seal is between the torque convertor and the bell housing section of the box. And as long as I keep the oil topped up the box should be OK All i need to do is change the seal (even though I'm not exactly sure where it is) Does this sound reasonable, do you know what seal he is talking about Any help appreciated Regards Roy

Thanks Hans Must organise an Irish Meet soon I presume the Matrix you got from MJP was the courtesy type allowing you to fit with Dash in???. Was there any extra piping needed? I'm trying to find it on the Courtesy site but cant see it, can anyone pinpoint which menu its in. Roy

Mine did the exact same Pilot filter disintegrated, made its way through the box causing damage. Called for a full rebuild. But has been good since. (2 years)

Did the TPS, was outside range. Set it to 0.44v last night and bingo, box good as new. Do a search on TPS and you will find plenty of info on what wires to check etc

Just after fitting my autobox after its second rebuild in as many years . Problem is first gear isnt dropping out easily it redlines at 7200 starts heitating 2 or 3 times before finally dropping to second (and not smothly) all other gear shifts are fine. Any ideas, could it be as simple as TPS or speed/rev sensor circuit, surely these would effect all gears not first. Any help appreciated Roy
