hicas light
I assume the fluid level is only relevent for pre-electric HICAS zeds? That being said if the fluid levels are fine how else would you go about switching off the HICAS light (for example: if HICAS system is removed and light is continuously on, how would you switch it off for an MoT etc?)

Model Variations
I've sent him a PM on your behalf mate so he should be along shortly

Model Variations
If you're going to be in the market for a zed in the future I'd touch base with Marty (Gonzo12c) and discuss his black shorty TT that he's working on at the moment, as by the sounds of it it'll be a very tidy example with pretty high spec.

Brake bleeding 94+ abs
It's my Chuck Norris legs that's causing the extra flex of the firewall  but big thanks have to go to Marty, this brake issue has been a propper pain in the hoop! and it would appear that the 94+ ABS does in fact self bleed

engine rebuild advice please
In my view if your current engine is actually running ok then keep it in the car until something really go's wrong with it. Think of the 'donor' engine as a small project in it's own right, put it on the bench/engine stand and build it to whatever spec you deem necessary over an un-restricted period of time (as and when funds permit). Don't be in too much of a hurry to pull the old one out and then run the risk of having two engines on a bench, your zed parked up on the driveway for months on end resulting in an ever increasing credit card balance/decreasing bank balance, in your attempt to get a new all singing/all dancing newly built higher spec'd engine in your zed By taking it slowly you'll have the old girl for the coming Summer months and still be able to work on your 'project' when the mood takes you, with the added bonus of getting your hands dirty and expanding your zed knowledge That's what I would suggest anyway mate

ebay zed big brakes maybe ?
I reckon that front left caliper and disc would be a bit shagged looking at the flatness of that rim

Brake bleeding 94+ abs
Are the rear calipers supposed to have brake pads in? Only joking. I've got a spare few hours tomorrow that I plan to spend on the zeds braking system and of course (assuming Marty doesn't get himself lost out in the sticks) we can spend a good bit of time drinking tea and fault finding on Wednesday and if we still have no joy then it may be a case of biting the bullet and binning the whole ABS completely sooner rather than later

Brake bleeding 94+ abs
My horn works well though....so maybe brakes are a bit over rated after all and if the cars in front don't move out of my way then it's their fault.......isn't it?

e bay zed
I reckon it's a SWB mate. It states 2 seater in the ad (if it were a LWB I suppose the rear seats could have been removed) however in the first pic it looks like the fuel door is in front of the rear arch Depending on condition up close I think for £3500 it would be a more cost effective base for a project build than starting from scratch, but like everything these days I'm very sceptical on spec until I've personally seen it in the metal

e bay zed
If it's a genuine no skeletons in closset sale then it's way underpriced in my opinion

Brake bleeding 94+ abs
In a nutshell when the ignition is off the brake pedal is relatively firm when pressed but as soon as the ignition is turned on, the brake pedal is very soft and takes 4-5 full to the floor presses for it to start to firm up (but not enough to stop the car) the pedal then go's soft again if not pressed requiring a further 4-5 presses to start to firm up again. When the pedal is pressed continuously (eg. 10 times) there is a distinct noise coming from the area (possibly from within) the actuator itself....the only way that I can explain it is a slightly high pitched wheeze/squeak the revs also appear to drop very slightly when the brake pedal is continuously pressed but then return to normal when the pedal is released. All connections have been checked and are tight, the brakes have been bled as per the manual (apart from the actuator as there are no bleed points) on 6-7 ocassions by a garage and by myself. The brake fluid eventually runs clear, the brake fluid pot is never allowed to run below 3/4. The BMC hasn't been touched and all calipers are fitted correctly. Effectively the brakes used to work really well and now they are about as much use as a chocolate fire guard.....with the added bonus of being blessed with an apparent asthmatic ABS actuator *the ABS light also stays on....and there's no LED as per the manual

New alloys
Shiney!! Hopefully they stay that way...

A near miss
To be fair mate if you can see it with your binos I'd say somebody's got their calculations wrong and we're all in the shit!

Alloys
I can't see any problems with fitting a 225 on a 9.5" wide rim, though the effectiveness of the contact patch between tyre and road may be something to consider and adjust the camber accordingly It's also worth noting that there will be some minor variation with regards to stretch between diffferent tyre manufacturers

New wheeler dealers
Looks like it's running the same off road ride height as the mid 90's Jags to me....could have been so much nicer with a bit more attention to detail

want to take a New Biz Direction
I suppose a big factor is what services you're qualified/capable of offering to the customer, avoiding biting off more than you can chew etc The Jap RC drift scene seems to be growing at the moment, would that be a potential change of focus for your model business? There's a big demand for indoor RC race/drift tracks Is there scope for you to utilise the same premises for RC or to run the car audio side of things from? http://www.driftworks.com/forum/rc-drift/

What's on your key fob?
What about French one's though?
-
is it normal?
Have you played with the tyre pressures at all to compensate for the cold etc?
-
is it normal?
Does it feel like there's maybe a bit of clutch slip?

Life After War tonight BBC3 21:00hrs
BBC3 Tonight at 21:00hrs I've just been given a heads up by a mate from 2 Rifles about this programme being aired tonight, it should give a pretty good indication of what this particular tour of Afghan was like and the aftermath and how it effected some of the guys. My understanding is that the programme will focus predominantly on an incident that took place mid '09 at a place called Y68 in Wishtan. Y68 is about 300 yds from the FoB walls and it's where guys from 9 Plt C Coy 2 Rifles were hit by an IED whilst conducting a CASEVAC following an initial IED strike which injured the boss and a few others. The incident resulted in 5 kia and deeply impacted on others involved. This was a bad day for everyone but should go someway to explain what fighting the war in Wishtan was like as it was very unique to any other area of Afghan that I've operated in. My brother Michael and his family were interviewed for this programme (it was his section that was hit and his mates that were killed). Michael was the regular lead Valon man but was on leave at the time so his mate stepped into his roll whilst he was away. Michael left the Army shortly after 2 Rifles returned to NI. Whilst Michael and I operated from FoB Wishtan our other brother, Martyn, was a bit further North in FoB Inkerman with B Coy 2 Rifles who were having a very different war. It's sad to say that lessons learnt in the Summer of 2009 were still being learnt by B Coy The Royal Scots (as part of 3 Rifles BG) in 2010 when I went back to visit Wishtan. I'm guessing that my mate Jamie Moncho will do a good job of explaining what happened, he was later awarded the CGC for his actions. Others should definately have receieved recognition for their part in this incident. My best mate Mac (RIP) should have been awarded the MC for his actions on this day and for his actions a month later....but never was I just hope the production team do the boys justice

Postage to Austria
Royal Mail mentality is that they'd have to pay for the postmans return ticket aswell!

r33 gtst coilovers
Yep, that was the other minor detail that Kam from DW mentioned
-
r33 gtst coilovers
No probs mate, in the meantime here's a quick pic that I found of the coilovers (HKS Hyper D for an R33 GTS-t) You can see the rear is quite a bit longer than those for a zed and the plates are way too big and would need swapping over
-
Which Shock Absorber help please!!
I had a set of these ^^^^^ on my first LWB TT, they were very good for road use and to be honest you really couldn't go wrong for that price mate
-
r33 gtst coilovers
I've got a pair of HKS GTS-t coilovers in the garage, I'm pretty sure that the fronts will fit ok (apart from having a larger plate mount) whereas the rears are quite a bit longer that those for the z32 (again with a larger plate mount). I'll have a look in the morning and can measure them up if that helps. If I remember correctly the Skyline GTR fronts will also fit a zed but the rears are different, I'd have to confirm that though as I could be wrong
