Old fashioned?
Speaking from a personal point of view, I accept fully that my zed (in theory) is a 20 year old car. The reality is that apart from the shell, which has been chopped to within an inch of its life, the rest of the car is all brand new anyway. In exactly the way as this R32 GTR (below) is registered on a '06 plate http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2570251.htm again in my opinion, if you are going to the expense of creating a new car from old then why not make very subtle changes to the body if that is what you want to do. Its not so much 'not accepting that our zeds are 20+ years old but more that some individuals will want to enhance the original design without taking anything away from it' If individuals like the 20 year old OEM zed look (which is still a good looking car even by modern standards) then that's obviously fine but why shouldn't we look at ways in which it can be brought up to date if that's what we want? If they all looked the same then the zed community would be a pretty boring place in my opinion just my 2p worth :thumbup1:

Old fashioned?
This thread raises a good point though, and without wishing to offend anyones pride and joy, certain features of the majority of zeds do not age well (OEM rear lights for example). The answer to this ^^^ is usually to fit a set of '99 spec rears, however even they are starting (again in my opinion) to look a tad aged, in a similar way to the R34 GTR and its angular body. Is it time for a designer to come up with a new 2012 version of the Z32 rear lights ready for next year, and maybe a new 2012 body kit, to replace the more common, and quite frankly dull, kits that have been around for so long. Nothing too OTT, just a slight tweak to the OEM lines of the zed

Everything (even the oldest zeds) can be brought right up to date with a bit of work

Offset question: LWB vs SWB
Yeah, figured you weren't selling Pop over for a brew whenever you fancy mate There's actually another zed (white import SWB) just suddenly appeared around the corner from me a few weeks back, once I've tracked the owner down I'll pop around and introduce myself My zeds still up on stands at the mo' and has been stripped back even more than before, and its snapping me and sapping my morale big time :hammer: So I've been eyeing up GTR's, Supra's and SWB zeds over the last few weeks just to give me something to get my stupid ass back into the seat, will then work on the other zed in slow time

200sx engine mounts
Come to think of it though, if you can fabricate an off the shelf conversion kit and get it proven as a viable, cheaper option to the usual JZ, RB, SR upgrades then there might be something there for the drift community and that would increase demand for the VG, thereby increasing value of the average zed....maybe? Though I'm pretty sure the JZ is still a comparatively cheaper option all round, but having said that, decent un-abused JZ's are supposedly getting harder to come by these days

Offset question: LWB vs SWB
I had a quick search and couldn't find anything to show LWB TT offset vs SWB TT offset? a few questions: - Are the offsets front and rear the same for a SWB TT as they are for a LWB TT? - also would this set of Enkei's that I picked up recently, fit stock SWB TT arches? sizes are as follows: FRONT = 18" x 9" (ET +17) 5x114.3 tyres: 225/40 REAR = 18" x 10" (ET +23) 5x114.3 tyres: 255/30 *also, I picked up a pair of SSR's in Japan, how far outside the rear arches would they sit and would the inner clear the shocks?: REAR = 18" x 11.5" (ET +16) 5x114.3 tyres: 295/30 (stretched) many thanks in advance :thumbup1:

Difference in SWB and LWB hatch sizes?
The SWB spoiler looks like a decent fit, but I presume that's still a LWB hatch on your LWB zed?

Going rate for engine rebuild
I'd be interested to see what the courts would do in this instance Let's for example say that 'a garage' took £12,000 off a person for a top spec engine build including parts/labour etc, but in fact the garage actually supplied a stock engine, no upgraded parts etc As in ^^^ instance the engine is subsequently stripped at a later date and found to be a dud Is that a civil matter or a criminal matter? Let's again say that the garage did this to several customers over a period of time, that's a substantial sum of money that the garage has pocketed for supplying nothing (surely that is blatant theft and therefore a criminal matter) Undoubtebly the police wouldn't agree that it was a criminal matter, until that it, the owners who had been ripped off went around to 'the garage' and kicked seven shades of sh*t out of the thieving flange! Then the courts would no doubt compensate 'the garage' owner for distress and physical injury suffered..... Not sure the Aussie' system is quite so....how shall I say....'Bone as f*ck!'

Going rate for engine rebuild
As per title. I'm in the process now of pulling the engine from the shell and stripping the block down. Assuming that all the work and forged components that Ztech were paid for, are good and present What's the going rate for a block rebuild? cheers
