  1. My next trick is a full suspension change, as in new struts, springs and associated hardware then its time for the Manwell conversion!! Can't wait for that!
  2. Seems alright, but AFAIK the Apexi induction kit seems to be the best rated kit for the 300zx. When I was researching the topic, Apexi kept coming out as the best option for overall performance and filtration properties. They are no more expensive and very easy to fit. HTH.
  3. I haven't driven my Zed properly since last October. On Sunday I repaired a power steering leak, overhauled the brake calipers, changed the pads & fluid. Then I took it out for a good drive to test it all....... :eek:GOOD GOD, these cars are fast. You soon forget! And I can see why real respect is needed, being rear drivers you can easily get caught out! Absolutely effortless power, overtaking 4, 5, 6 cars with ease. The acceleration is very addictive. Its good to have a break from them some times, it makes you appreciate them all the more:) BTW running basic mods - 1mm tips/Zedworld ECU/aftermarket exhaust and Apexi induction kit, so imagine running 340bhp at the flywheel. Just thought I'd share my experience!
  4. Hi guys, my Zed has some nice 18inch wheels on them, but they are all 8.5 inch wide with an offset of ET38 On the fronts I'm running 225's, on the rears 245's. I was careful to select the correct profiles to keep the right overall wheel size for the speedo. What size wheel spacers would I need at the front and rear to give my car a better stance and push the wheels out to make it look meaner? The car is riding standard height & I don't want any rubbing issues. Any opinions much appreciated.....:duffer:
  5. Hi Guys, I've just change one of power steering hoses over and will soon be filling the system up again. Any guidance on bleeding system would be appreciated....... Cheers.....:)
  6. My Import Zed is completely rust free and low mileage, not a spot any where! I had it plastered in wax oil (wheels off, liners out) just after I bought it to help keep it that way! And it doesn't get to see a salty road..........
  7. Get it taxed ASAP and you might pull it off. If they then try to fine you maybe you could claim you SORNed it, sent the docs away, never got anything back and thought nothing of it. At least if you tax it now, its obvious you're not an tax evader. Worse case scenario, you will have to back date to September I would have thought. Just a thought, but if you ring them directly and explain, I really don't think they'll fine you. They will just issue you a disc that will expire in September 09 and charge for a full year.
  8. For me it would have to be a 300zx - Surprise! When I bought my 300zx, it was because I really wanted one. There are not many cars I would swap it for, other than those costing serious money. In fact, I walked away with a lot of cash when I bought my Zed cos it was worth less than the other car, but its much more of a car.........
  9. Admittedly, my Zed is purely my 'Toy', it is only used when I want to, but not because I have to. Still it has been very reliable, just has I expect a Japanese car to be, obviously being an old & complicated car, you can expect some issues. Its just if an outsider were to read this forum they would get the impression that the 300zx is dreadfully unreliable and I don't think it is. Find a good one, look after it and it will be as reliable as most cars.
  10. I read a lot of of threads on the site that suggest the Zed is a pretty unreliable car, but I have found this to be the case with most car Forums as people don't start threads like 'my car has no faults today'. Obviously they post threads to get help or give help. I have had my Zed for over 18 months now and it came with 2 faults which were fixed nice and easy. It had a major service just after I bought it, had it chipped & 1mm boost jets fitted. I would just like to say that it has been completely fault free since. Not a single issue (other than self induced problems caused by my tinkering). I know this might seem a silly thread starter, but I just thought it would be nice to hear of some other members that have had no real problems with their Zeds. I bet there are more than we realise!:)
  11. ^^^^ This is very true, my daily driver Vauxhall Combi van feels very sharp on initial braking, I also drive a VW Caddy and those brakes are stupidly sharp on initial braking (annoyingly so!). BUT, both at speed when braking hard soon lose this sharpness and really suffer from fade, round town though, too sharp! This makes you think the brakes are excellent, but sometimes can let you down! I find Renault brakes typical of this, mega sharp when you don't want them to be, when you need them at 80mph - fade away. The Zed however is the other way round, much more progressive, requires much more pedal power at low speeds, but when needed at speed really wipe the MPH off (in the dry) (assuming the Zeds brakes are in excellent order).
  12. You are getting into some thing serious!
  13. Forgive me for asking, but why did you buy it 6 weeks ago and then try to sell almost straight away? Did you find something seriously wrong with it? I see posts like this occasionally and always wonder.....why?
  14. I found my car to do this as well. An extra bulb in the indicator cluster (Import) lights up with the indicator when the head lights are on, it doesn't flash, just stays on until indication is cancelled. I found this strange and just removed the extra bulb! Doh!
  15. How does an NA 300zx 'PULL' better than a TT? The TT is radically faster than the NA and pulls much harder........in my experience anyway.
  16. The GT4 is a lovely car, but in a different league to the Zed. Maybe like comparing an M3 to an M5, similar performance, both very quick, but the M5 is the larger, classier, more expensive (when new) and sophisticated car. When I was leaving the Gym the other night, I saw a MR2 turbo being an arse with a nicely driven Mitsi 3000GTO, the driver of the GTO ignoring his advances. I just thought, nice car mate, maybe just as quick, but that GTO is in a different class. The GTO had real presence and looked so much faster than the nice, but common and slightly girly MR2. The 300zx is in the same leaque as a GTO, but is my preference.
  17. Most 'pure breed' dogs have some sort of health issues, Cross breeds are much less prone to health problems. Had an Alsatian, that had to be put down at the age of 7 due to hip problems and the nerves going to the back legs. We now have 2 cross breeds now both several years old, they seem to be bomb proof! Every year the usual vet check and always told in excellent health. Visit a local rescue center, see if anything there takes your fancy, both our dogs are rescue and we've had no problems.
  18. Is the NA rear diff as strong as the TT diff?? Does this method work out cheaper than say fitting the Leader gear kit to the TT diff which creates the same final drive ratio? All food for thought!
  19. I recently price the job lot up for my LWB from America. They are expensive: Car weather seals: 80830-Z32003 Door seal RH (2+2) $100 80831-Z32003 Door seal LH $100 76860-51P10 Window/T-top seal RH (2+2) $170 76861-51P10 Window/T-top seal LH $170 91666-51P10 T-Top seal RH (2+2) $60 91667-51P10 T-Top seal LH $60 90372-30P00 Rear hatch seal?? $95 76860-Z32009 Seal Front RH A pillar $170 76861-Z32009 Seal Front LH A pillar $170 Total cost $1095 + delivery and import duty.............:(
  20. You can also buy some larger pads that fit in the original calipers, but stick out a bit to solve some of this problem. http://www.db-power.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=128_148_230_412_413&products_id=297
