  1. One problem with doing any prep work yourself is if there are future problems and warranty. Will your bodyshop put right any issues or blame your prep work :(
  2. why not get a list of what you need from him if he paints for a living, he's bound to know the best stuff to suit your needs then ;)
  3. Just my thoughts but you really need to get the painter to tell you what you need as he surely knows what he "should" be doing. Is it someone you know and trust? The first place who sprayed my car a few years ago skimmed my polyurethane bumper with normal filler and when the guys at Custom Exotics saw it, they told me straight away the bumper would crack all over the place - it did :( Now I may have a bumper that requires some major work to save :(
  4. Just look on Ebay, plenty of suppliers with all the sizes you could imagine :)
  5. not a fan of the stack systems, look too race track for me
  6. Thanks bud, I'll look at the Dakota stuff :)
  7. Their forums?? Do you mean the Mitsi Challanger? They've only put normal individual dials in.
  8. Hi, I'm looking for some sort of interface that will allow me to display things like boost, water and oil temps, oil pressure, EGT etc. My car is a 1996 Mitsubishi Challenger and doesn't have OBD2. So I would need something that I can put in the various sensors and it will display the information on a display, carputer or Android smartphone/tablet. Has anyone ever come across anything that would do that? Thanks Vijay
  9. I believe most undersealing companies will charge around £4-500. I just did mine myself and I really can't see how it can be done as cheap as 60 quid unless it's just sprayed anywhere and everywhere. The reason I decided to do mine myself was so I could remove anything and everything I could, including every sheared off bolt so I could retap the threads. Just being realisitic because I know how much time it took me and £60 could only be about an hour to an hour and a halfs labour (and there's obviously materials to take into that too)
  10. If anyone needs another the same as the second picture, I may have one but will have to check if my mate still has it.
  11. picture here :) http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?17474-auto-box-problem&highlight=speed
  12. Started on the boot area, the underseal will dry in few days and then I can sound deaded the whole area :)
  13. I talk from experience here, my Z was rust free and sat outside my house through 2 winters. My sills are rotted and the complete back end (diff etc) all had surface rust. Any leak from the targas will give you condensation issues and everything inside will start getting surface rust too. I think without driving and letting wind give everything a blowout while you drive, you could be asking for trouble.
  14. Cheers mate. By the way your front lights look brilliant but no pics of those till the rest of the lights are in ;)
  15. Always liked that song -
  16. Here's the latests pics. Got the rear 1/4s done, the centre tunnel and also the doors :) Got the boot area left to do............... [/url
  17. Sorry Jay but just beacuse you use a specialist, doesn't mean you get a top job done. My point is you have to find a mechanic you can trust, that's the main thing for me. I've owned a Z for 15 years so trust me, I know how much they cost!! lol
  18. 10mm i.d hose as said and just make sure it exits in one piece (as in no joins). Look at my post here http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?163808-Moving-forward-with-my-Z I used some 10mm compression olives pushed into the hose that exits the sills, that makes a lip and I used sikaflex around it :)
  19. To me it's down to pot luck until you find a mechanic you can trust. If you can manage to do a job yourself, my advice would be to do it, it's the only way ok knowing it's done properly and to your standards. Good luck :)
  20. Give the CAS connector a good clean too. I would probably give all the connectors a good clean while you're at it ;)
