Moving forward with my Z.....................
No, leaving the battery in the engine bay, that was just an amp wire :) Bought the stuff off Ebay about a year ago, it's like a thick silver foil with a layer of tar on the back. Groover used it first IIRC :) Not too bad to lay, using a hairdryer and a wallpaper seam roller to get it into nooks and crannies. The seller is still on there but doesn't advertize anything :( - might be worth contacting him though.... http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/fittingsolutions?ssPageName=ADME:X:CEM:GB:1181

Moving forward with my Z.....................
They really are mate. They are honest and tell you as it is. When I've been stuck with something, they've both dropped what they're doing and helped me. I'd like to believe they are extremely nice guys - or maybe they just want to get rid of me lol

Moving forward with my Z.....................
Today I started sound deading/proofing the interior. Only got the floorpan done but hoping to get more done in the next few days

Moving forward with my Z.....................
I then treated all the rust I could get to with spray rust converter. I did this a few times in the hope of getting to it all. I've then sprayed Dinitrol cavity spray down the channels and rear sills and painted the floorpan with Dinitrol underseal

Moving forward with my Z.....................
Next job was to check the inside as sadly both my rear sills had rusted and have had to be replaced. I pulled out the carpet and found that it looked in a sorry state including water sitting in the channels. My first job was to run new pipes for the rear sill and have them exit the bottom properly without any joins. I did this with 10mm I.D silicone tubing and using some 10mm compression olives pushed in the ends to form a ridge. That was then sikoflexed into the holes (got to put some underseal round them next to finish it off) Here's some pictures of the floorpan after I pulled the carpet and cleaned all the carpet backing/insulation that had stuck on

Moving forward with my Z.....................
Firstly I want to thank the guys at Custom Exotics for all their help so far and allowing me to work on my car in their workshop. I know I've been in the way and they probably can't wait to see the back of my Z, but my car has been their since April after finding more and more problems. They've given me help, opinions, let me borrow the odd tool and not once have they turned their back on me. Without these guys I have no doubt my Z would have been scrapped after so many places doing shoddy work on my Z. At the moment, my interior is all out and being trimmed so I thought I better make sure the bodywork is ok as sadly I found I couldn't rely on anyone else. I started attacking the underneath with Dinitrol underseal (by brush). I've removed bits as I went along, including any brackets and covers on the underside, the suspension, anti roll bars and basically anything that I could remove. I also drilled out every nut and bolt that had been snapped over the years by garages and retapped all the holes (that in itself was a long job) All underseal pictures are here - http://s522.photobucket.com/albums/w341/vijay9999pics/300ZX%202012/Underseal/?start=all

Soundproofing
Hello bud, Hope not cos I've been treating surface rust for the last few days :( I coated the inside with underseal and once that's dried off, will lay the soundproofing over that :) How have you found the job? Vijay

T Top rear drain pipes
I did mine slightly differntly. I used a single pipe from the top to the bottom and where it exits, I pushed a 10mm copper olive into the pipe, so it flairs the end and stops the pipe going back in the hole. I then used some Sikaflex to fix it in place an seal the hole. I'll post up some pictures when I take them :)

T Top rear drain pipes
My sills have already gone, they've been rewelded up. It turns out that one of the 2 bodyshops in the past nightmare I had (not the guys my car is with now I'd like to point out) had actually filled in the drivers side rear drain valve. I'm doing what Andy did and running new pipes in one piece

T Top rear drain pipes
Cheers Andy, I'll have another look today :)

T Top rear drain pipes
Thanks Andy. I assume you did that before any welding was carried out? Mine has already been welded back up.....................

T Top rear drain pipes
Hi, I'm sure I remember a post somewhere where the rear drain pipes were adapted so they allowed water to run out cleanly and not allow water to sit on the bodywork/chassis, for the life of me I can't find it. Does it ring any bells with anyone? Cheers Vijay

Suggestion for Members' trading
an issue could be that the buyer doesn't get round to informing anyone they have received the goods and then holding up payment, but I guess there could be a set period of say a week after a message is sent to to the buyer, if they don't respond, the money is passed on.
-
My buying ordeal
I can never understand once people have money, why they don't want to get the stuff sent at the earliest oppertunity and get the transaction over and done with. If there's a delay, send a polite message keeping the buyer update and every one is happy. When ever I've sold something, once I have the money, the way I look at it is I no longer own the item so why do I want it sitting around my house ;) Really wish this ends well..................

good place to get body work done

Windows still won't work.
I have my door cards off at the moment and just got my windows working again. If there's any wires you need checking/clarifying for voltages etc, just ask :)

need cheering up any suggestions??
Hi Nicci, I don't know you at all so it's easy for me to have an opinion, but I would say never ever listen to his lies again, don't even entertain them or it'll do your head in even more. It's more about self respect and sadly, he doesn't seam to have much :( Keep you head up and smile through it, you still have your dignity cos you obviously gave him chances to put things right ;) Just take care of yourself! Vijay
