wtf!!! car wont start? :(
Even though you mentioned iyou could smell petrol, I would check you are getting fuel to the engine as well... When mine wouldn't start, I assumed electrical until the AA man found their was no fuel going into the fuel filter.

Need a silly name for my Zed...
For some reason Fluffy sounds like an ideal alter-ego name for a Zed.

Anyone into repair at component level?
RS but will not be the cheapest. They have a sales counter in Corby so you can collect if needed. If you get stuck with them, let me know. I used to work there and still know quite a few people there.

I think he lives in Kettering, I saw the same as you described a few weeks ago, then the next day he followed me to the petrol station in a vectra, had a water pipe fail and wanted to know where to get it fixed. He said he was on this site....

Silverstone wash out
I was there today. Took us an hour and 20 minutes to get from Banbury into the circuit. We got out of the minibuses at one stage and walked ! If you saw it on TV, you would have seen it rained pretty hard and then again during the GP2 and GP3 races. When we left, it only took us 30 minutes back to Banbury. Some of the roads were flooded in the circuit but there were no cars on the grass car parks in an effort to let them be used tomorrow. If anyone has the chance to go with Paddock Club hospitality, then take it. It is amazing. Ours was sponsored by Dell and Caterham, so we had two tours of the pit area and unlimited food and drink, all waiter service. On the way to the pits I even had Deamon Hill hold the door open for me!

Safety last ! ?
The reason given on the BBC web site is that only 0.6% of cars on the road will be affected and they account for only 0.03% of all accidents and injuries. They also say they are usually more looked after than modern cars as the owners are always fixing them !

speechless
A friend in our village is a runner. They have been told he can buy the torch after he has run for £200. Not a bad markup if he gets the £135k !

You can bypass the ECU http://z32.wikispaces.com/Fuel+Pump+Control+Unit Or you could speak to JeffTT and see if he will lend you one on sale or return ?
