HELP!! Fkn piece of s#%t!
Can you remove the extension leads from the PTU where it normally resides? If not it is pretty useless to try to change at the services otherwise I could meet you on the A14 at Kettering and give you the pieces?

HELP!! Fkn piece of s#%t!
Have you called AA out? Whereabouts on the A14 are you ? Is it turning over and just not firing any more or wont it turnover at all? Have most of the Zed in parts in the shed an if not too far away I could bring some over to try.

Really P***ed
Well had a week to think it over and chat to the wife (so far its cost a spa weekend for her, but well worth it!). I am worried that if we dig deeper we will find something else, so I have lost all confidence in this one. So if anyone wants to buy it as is for £1,800 then its yours, otherwise I will break it and then add wat I had budgeted to repair this one and get another. Have my eye on one but need to get some cash together first.

It was from someone on here, who had just bought it from someone else on her (niether regular visitors and have not been on for a bit) With the compression so low on all cylinders and No 6 effectively 0, I think the engine is beyond repair. I have the problem that my mechnic cannot do an engine swap until the summer and the car will have ti sit in his front garden as I have no where to put it. Dont want to make a snap decision as at the moment I am pretty depressed about it (made worse by the wife being very understanding!). Really want another Zed but would have to sell or scrap this one first.

My machanic friend said everything from the coil connectors to the spark plugs wre only finger tight as though someone had put sealer into the cylinders then put everything together to see if it fixed the issue but didnt go back to tighten everything up.

Well the c**p has hit the fan ! we have been working on the bodywork, identifying where the holes are and assessing how to attack it. Came to do a compression test on the engine today because of the blue smoke. Best cylinder was 150 and No 6 only registered 25 ! all of the plugs were loose so it looks like it was going for a while. Really gutted, feel like I have been conned and sold a dud. Anyone want a project car?

Replacment arch and sill panels
Well mine arrived today as promised and look good. Service and communication was great so no complaints from me ! Obviously proof will be in the fitting, which is planned for the weekend.

Well I took the carpet out today to see how bad the floor pan was. Well the floor looks good as you can see (any water is because it was pouring it down and the door was open a bit and I hadn't realised). I know there are two holes in the floor, one is below the rear seat area but cannot be seen from within the cabin. The other I think is behind the ECU's in the footwell, so will take that out once the car is on stands. I will get some pictures of the rust and holes tomorrow.

Replacment arch and sill panels
Spoke to the guy last night and the sills he sells are the ret quarter ones in redwine300's pic. He did say that if I got the dimension and pictures of the rest of the sill he will get some metal rolled and lipped fir the outer sill area. Seemed like a genuine bloke.

Thanks for that Jeff. Feel better knowing an expert has advised. I know this is in the realms of hens teeth but do you have a donor car that has a decent floor pan? I can wait until you have stopped laughing for a response ! :innocent:

Bit of a progress report... Car is off to my welder /mechanic friend tomorrow to start cutting out the rust and see how bad it is. In the meantime I have bought a cheap runaround so we can spend the time to fix it properly. As per the other thread about sills on eBay, I am getting a set of inner and outer sills for both side so it is nice an meet when finished. Previous repairs of the sills are looking a bit tatty so may as well clean her up. One question that I have been asked to post is when others have chopped out the sills and fears of the floor, have they braced the doors? My welder friend is worried the car might fold a bit with all of this metal cut out.
