Started seat trim
...after having the kit knocking about for 18 months or so :smash: I thought it's now time to get cracking! I got the rears done in about 2 1/2 hours - I was surprised at how straight-forward the job was. i think the trickiest part was trying to get those damn plastic ties to thread back around the frame of the seat. after the tenth one i worked out that if i pushed one finger down one side, then tried to slide the tie from the other side up my nail then it did the job (i think the ties i bought were a little too small to work with, but patience payed off in the end) i also have blue trim to replace all the tweed cards etc. but i think it may be too light (its like an electric blue) to go with the darkness of the blue in the seats. will have to put some of it up temporarily with blu-tac or double-sided tape and see what i think. im loving the colour and am very pleased with the quality of the material, and what id achieved in an afternoon. passenger-side seat next (maybe this weekend) - this will definately be trickier but im ready for it. bring it on! woooooo! ps. i took this photo before i screwed the top back in, so the two halves look a little off-cock

Insurance question
i think it's safest to declare it, after all it is a modification from your car's spec. they would be a bit cheeky if they put up your premium though as it is just a stock item and wouldnt cost (much) more to replace than an aftermarket one.

Carbon-fibre vent covers fitted
the only problem i had fitting them was that they initially overlapped the lip. it looks like overall the right shape, but they didnt sit over the stock vents properly, so i drilled and screwed them together how i wanted them, and then spent a good few hours filing down the other edge until the whole thing sat flush with the dash. the screws look ok so far - if they go rusty then its a simple job to pull out the vents, replace the screws, and then push them back in. cheers fella - i think by themselves they could look tacky or just stuck on for the sake of it - but gradually im finding myself going down the carbon fibre / subtle track look, so they'll be part of a theme :)

Carbon-fibre vent covers fitted
i know where youre coming from Si - the photos dont really do them justice as in the flesh they aren't quite as bright as they are made out to be. im fairly happy with them, but im more happy with the rear seats ive just retrimmed  took about 2-3 hours to do, and ive lost enough flesh and blood to make an extra finger from doing the job but i enjoyed doing it. just need to do the front two now

Carbon-fibre vent covers fitted
Finally got these fitted after I received them from W1NG gawd knows how many months/years ago! Got a new set of vents from Baz and drilled them into the covers, then spent ages carefully filing down the edges until the covers fitted into the indentation around the stock vents. Re-fitted the daylight sensor and hey presto. Not a perfect job but I do like the look - I have carbon fibre-look B-pillar covers too. Fingers are full of plastic splinters! :smw:

What we all got planned this weekend?
i hope the events are a great success - im sure they will be! as for me, i'm fitting some carbon-fibre vent covers (much, much filing down required!) and then buying some things i need to fit my seat covers, like hundreds of plastic ties!

i would say that with larger injectors and aftermarket turbos you'd need to run the chipped ecu! in fact before cranking up the boost you DEFINATELY do! do you know what make/map it is?

Your Z parts by numbers
Let's see who can come up with the most rediculous numbers. Rules: they all have to be or have been on the same Z you have to have seen them on your Z (but pictures count too!) - assuming stock ones were on there at some point in the past is allowed! ;) the parts have to be relatively interesting (different types of battery or air freshener don't count!) the parts have to be different makes (so you can't say I've been through 4 stock clutches!) you have to have at least three to be able to list them you get one point for each item listed but only if you can name/describe them in some way tyres and alloys count as one I'll start: Gearknobs: Five (stock, Razo golf-ball, F1 [ebay shite], Z-Centre, Nismo) Steering wheels: Four (unbranded with red horn button that didnt work, stock, Momo Evo, Option Tuning) Eproms: Four (stock, JWT, John Dixon, 555) Paint Colours: Three (stock gunmetal, ivory white, atlantic blue) Alloys: Four (stock, 17" deep dish with lovely acid damage, 18" mania racing vortex, 19" cruise 136) Front bumpers: Three (stock, veilside C1, Wings West) Headlight panels: Three (stock, Bomex, Stillen) Total points: 26
