what car is this???
it belongs to a friend of a friend on facebook - at first glance i thought it was mine!!!! (at least from the small photo) - can anyone tell what it is - it may even be the same colour as mine, which would make it a mazda. identities have been removed to protect the innocent...

horny wire?
i noticed this cut wire while i was under the car - looks like it something to do with the horn but the horn works ok  i noticed those wires hanging down when i was at CenterGravity the other week, and used a platic tie to pull them back out of the way - im sure the wire in the photo wasn't cut/loose at the time though... any ideas anyone? this is nearside btw...

today's work on the Z (drugs)...
...continuing with my interior retrim after having done the rear seats last week, i removed the passenger seat today and will hopefully make a start at re-doing that over the weekend. found some cool 7-year-old Jap drugs on the floor once i'd removed the seat - i wonder whether its just paracetomol or some quality £1m smack...

today's work on the Z (windscreen trim)...
after being received from ChrisD :) i replaced my rotten old windscreen and targa trim with new ones (after saying in another thread how i'd rather use that spray-on black stuff instead of replacing it all, lol!) - pleasantly surprised how soft the new stuff is compared to the hardened crap you get from 20 years of weather. old crap: new bitz: looks so much better now (i spent ages trying to get the fit right and im still not quite happy with it :( ) its just the rubber around the windscreen, and around the side windows that lets it down now!

today's work on the Z (coolant leak)...
first job was to find the cause of losing coolant over a period of time - just when i thought my running temp had been sorted once and for all, i was sat in traffic about 5 mins into my journey home on thursday, and the a/market temp needle just shot up from 70C to about 110!! needless to say i got my priorities right and in this order: i) shat, ii) found an escape route out of the traffic and into fosse retail park. gladly i noticed the needle drop back to normal temp as i moved, so after kerb crawling for a moment, i took my chances and carried on with the drive back home. no real probs as even when sat at lights it only crept up to about half way (90ish C). the following morning, i filled it with about 3 litres of coolant (all i had) and it still would have taken another 2! :slap: the journey to and from work were at normal temps, so today i bought some more coolant, got the bonnet up, popped in another 2 litres and after a short amount of time and the pitter-patter sound of dripping, found the cause in the picture below: so after removing the top hose, overflow pipe and rad cowl, i sorted out the clip (which was there, but hadn't been tightened up and had slid across the metal part of the pipe towards the centre of the engine) and replaced it all. not taken her out yet, but i did let her run for ten mins, throttling lightly now and again. no leaks so far so fingers crossed! DAMN those pipes are a b!tch to fit :slap:

KYB Shocks Question
yeah the adjuster is actually on the top, where you click it in with something like a thick blade and then turn it to adjust it - four different colours split into quarters show the setting

Started seat trim
ive not seen the Z-Centre ones (at least, to my knowledge), I would imagine they are the same.

Started seat trim
they are covers that replace the old leather - for each half of the rear seat (top and bottom) takes about 10 mins to remove old cover, then the remainder to stretch/poke/pull/fiddle with/tie up the new one. the fronts i would image take longer, but if you were dedicated i bet you could do all seats in a couple of full days. (edited - those front seats are a bugger!) (edited again - when i say full days, but down 24 hours days :slap: )

Started seat trim
thanks mate - yeah theyre Vytex, nice soft material and look good. not dead cow but the difference doesnt bother me! its just a shame the tweed makes them look crap! i'll have to get a move on and get the cards and trim done too

ebay new items...sigh...
dont you just hate it when this happens: thanks to the feebay policy of "cheaper to list, but take more of a chunk of your final price", people upload hundreds of lanyards, manuals on cd-rom, light-bulbs, watches, and all sorts of shite that you have to sift through, instead of being able to get to the tasty stuff straight away! :mac1:
