Hi all. 1) I've noticed that there are 2 radiators in the engine bay - one with most of the piping (at the back towards the car), and the other towards the front of the car from what I can see only has one pipe into it. What's this one for? 2) I've picked up a small crack in the bottom corner of my radiator - where the metal meets the black plastic side-trim. I've recently (say 2 weeks ago) swapped my standard rad cap (1.2kg/cm2) with a Nismo rad cap (1.3kg/cm2). Would this slightly higher tolerance in pressure have caused the crack or is this a wild coincidence? Cheers!

Hey Alex - congratulations on fitting the ApexIs! I've fitted mine also (have a jap cooler so was a lot smaller - my uprated one sits to the side so out of the way) - bit of a bar-steward job I know. Are you suffering from idle/stall problems since installing the BOVs? If not do you have any other mods which may have fixed this (like an air/fuel controller)?

Crikey that must have been the RS6! Was it an estate? (if so it was an RS4) They're supposed to be TT as well!

Thanks for that Steve-O. I just nipped out for 10 mins in the car :slap: and the temp gauge started rising again so at least that's still plugged in and working. The temp got about 3/4 of the way up until I (luckily) got back home. It's going to Tamworth soon (probably on tow) so I'll just have to be real careful until then. :(

Right just spent an hour underneath it in the pouring rain and I can see a hairline crack in the bottom corner of the radiator where water is very slowly dripping out. My temp sensor is staying at cold even when Ive run/lightly revved the engine for a few mins. Would this be because of the leak? Is there any option other than a new radiator? :( :cry:

Installed a pair of ApexI's yesterday. Seemed to go ok - sounded nice :D, car stalled every time it dumped :mad: but hey there's no such thing as a free lunch right? Then I'm driving to work at night and the next thing I know I look down to see the engine temperature on MAXIMUM, the bloody POWER light flashing and water pissing out over the road behind me! Luckily I was pulling into the car park so I cut the engine pretty sharpish. Lifted the bonnet and the engine sounded like it was BBQing itself. :eek: Let it cool down (obviously), filled up with water and left overnight. In the morning it hadnt lost any water and it ran ok (bar the erratic idle even tho I wasnt going over 2000 rpm!) Got back home and it was dripping lightly from passenger-side middle of engine bay and a faint fizzing/bubbling sound from near the rad cap (but im fairly sure it wasnt from the rad cap itself). Are these two linked (the water loss and the BOV) or a nasty coincidence? Any ideas fella's? (sh1t youre all at Billing! :( )

the forecast is supposed to be steaming over the weekend and as i also have work commitments (b****rd!) i cant make it so have a great time to every1 that's going and take plenty of pix!

some IDIOT at work who own a blue 206 (who constantly tries to copy whatever i do to my Z) has not only put NOS stickers in the windows, Motorola and Sony stickers down the door (to name but a few) but has also hand-painted the interior with paint which is now apparently running and flaking off. :xxx: :rofl:

ive been driving my z for 15ish months now and have never put anything other than unleaded in (prob due to the cost of optimax). i think i'll wait for my next pay day and put a tenner in and see what all the fuss is about.....

Yep agree with Steve-o - white paint seems to give the car another 20 bhp :D :D The sports auto box in the Z is fun and, if youre not careful, will drop you down a gear while youre on a corner - suddenly giving you extra thrust and sliding your ass out 20 degrees (until you learn the shift points). The overdrive on/off button is fun too - with o/d switched off (therefore removing 4th gear) the accelerator pedal is far more pokey cos you're kept within a higher rev range in a lower gear - great for countrysides!!!.

But if you go right up to 1way glass and cup your hands around your eyes can't you see through?!? Imagine realising that mid-dump.

My '89/'90 is fine. And good point about Nott/Brum - I got mine from a guy in Derby who buys them all from auction and then pretends to MOT and RAC them. :xxx:

i think you need different chips for manual /auto / uk / jdm. im running a JWT myself and was asked the exact model of Z before i was sent the chip.
