  1. gunn and zevans: hi and thanks for the advice. when i first installed them (the instructions barely mention the adjustable screw) i had major problems - it stalled after every dump no matter what rpm. after *loosening* them with a few twists of the screw it behaves much better - the dump is less aggressive, but it only stalls when i foot-off after high revs (say over 6k). during 'normal' driving ( ;) ) revs tend to dip low after the bovs actuate (the higher the revs, the lower the dip!!!) - sometimes even to 100/200ish and near-stall. idle is much much better now tho - when the engine is warm it idles as low as 500!!! (sounds like an old mustang!) however i'll try tightening the screw a) back to normal and b) even tighter than normal, then take the car for a few blasts around the block to see what happens - i'll let you know. Cheers for now, Dave. :)
  2. ok it would be interesting to know how you get on. im having a tubby timer and an air/fuel controller put in as well so i may as well have it all put in at once by an expert. mind you after a few stellas i might have a go later... :slap: :)
  3. They look like Momo Arrows but I dont think they are.
  4. Hi mate. I've got one waiting to go in. I was thinking of having a bash myself but I dont really understand the booklet that came with it - and its DEFINATELY not worth melting your ECU if you go wrong! I think the average charge for fitting is £120  Good luck with it tho buddy.
  5. Yeah, but you end up being evil by accident - every time I tried to feed my people I always ended up picking up a boulder and throwing it at them
  6. I heard it was 85 - but yes the faster you go the more efficient it seems to be!
  7. I like to call the mk 1s weetabix packets. Hey Steve r u sure you had your headlights on ;) :)
  8. A good mate of mine is a drummer in an acid jazz band. His lot toured around eastern europe two years ago and he says he could barely concentrate on his drumming cos of the rows and rows of fit women in the crowd! And not one single measly photo
  9. YUMMY! bloik . . . That stuff is like paint stripper - I had my shot after a double of chilli vodka. Cant remember much of that nite... ... Always fancied having a Russian girl (the blonde ballerina type, not the 20 stone gorilla type :) )
  10. Well I finally got my radiator sorted. There was a crack in the header tank apparently, which was dripping water down the inside and through a small crack in the bottom. Took it to a garage who ordered a new core and then rebuilt the header tank from brass, before spraying the whole lot black - nice! (there's even a bit of the Darkside in my car now - hehe) So it took me (and me dad who turns out to be an absolute lifesaver) four hours to refit the radiator (and sorted the BOVs as well). Turns out that once we'd seated the rad, the guy had made the top of the header tank too big (right next to the filler cap). The two bonnet pin arms (which screw to the bay above the headlights) wouldnt fit any more, so me dad had to cut some of them away. Got everything done - triple-checked everything. Ran the car a few times - everything seemed ok. Thought to myself - right, let's go for a spin. Lowered the car off the jacks after it'd been up for nearly a week and what happens? Water pisses out from under the rad. You've never seen my face fall so much - until i realised it was trapped rainwater :D  So after a good test drive it holds at medium temp, oil press. is good and boost press. is normal. Thankyou God!!!
  11. Yes cheers Alex. Just done it this afternoon. Loosened the screw by about 5 threads and it copes a lot better after a dump (don't we all! ) It doesnt sound as sharp as it used to - it's a longer whooshing sound as opposed to a short TISH but hey it doesnt stall on me (it tries a bit but not nearly as bad as it used to). Had to relocate my uprated oil cooler as well but fingers crossed it's pretty sorted. I've got an SAFC2 on the way which is supposed to sort it out once and for all, so hopefully will be able to tighten the BOVs a bit.
  12. Finally fitted my ApexIs at last!!! :hyper: DEFINATELY a head turner. I've not yet seen how it affects my perfomance but it's idling's all over the place. Miss the stability of the recircs, love the sound of the BOVs. As that rap artist said: "What about now, I'm 50/50"...
  13. Doesnt sound like so bad a place at all! I had a 89.9% Polish vodka once... Just the once...
  14. Are you trying to put a GSi engine into a Calibra by any chance? Or the other way round? Some nutter put a Calibra turbo engine into a Corsa once. Sorry cant help with problem tho - if youre doing a transplant you know more about cars than me! Good luck tho.
  15. I'll second that - I dont think I tells you this in the manual unless I missed it!
  16. git
  17. I got a white Z so does that make me Luke Skywalker? :D
  18. thats a really good site - ive always wanted to know how they do that! ive been downloading the trial version of PS for the last hour now!!!
  19. ...should take you to about 350,000 PSI! Might get a bit of det tho...
  20. Ta for that - it makes sense when it's in english! Did you get any hose/jubilee clips to tighten the connection where the silver pipes (sorry my tech level isn't very high!) shove into the corners of the bay? It just seems the connection isn't very air-tight that's all...
  21. what about a vokkie option! :x: hey i loved my gsi
  22. Mantav8, congrats on the install. Just one question - where did you attach those bitch-ass silver arms to????? No matter which way I put the adapter in I couldn't find anywhere to fix the BOV to!?!?
  23. Heeeeeyyyyyyyy Macarena! Is it true that this song was number 1 in the argentinian charts for 50 weeks in a row???
