some people replace both (swapping stock downpipes with fancy divorced downpipes although the effectiveness of these is up for debate - toughie job too as you need to get to the tubbies). removing just the cats is a simple job and gives you, ooh, 10 - 15 bhp. :smw:

IIRC your tubbies are more laggy with a FMIC as there's more pipework - probably not as noticeable with high horsepower. they do look rather good tho :cool:

I guess the closest dyno place may be THOR in Warwickshire unless there are ones closer that I dont know about. Ive used them before and they know their stuff.

yes, remove your jets when the controller is installed otherwise it wont work properly. there are various opinions on using octane booster - probably best to do a search and see what comments have been made. as for installing the controller, no it doesnt connect to the ecu, most of the work is under the bonnet. its not too tricky to install - needless to say i left it for an expert

avoid eBay ones mate. K&N are generally good (better on european cars i suppose). ApexI powerflows are going at a very reasonable price at the moment.

its a good controller, but be wary of a batch of faulty ones going around that lose their settings. only buy from a respectable dealer.

well you can leave the car, but the remote keyfob wont alarm the car until the timer has stopped the engine. TBH i cant see myself ever walking away from my car with engine running, even if its locked and has handbrake-cutoff - most of the time i only run my timer for 10 secs as i always lay back my driving as i approach my destination.

welcome to the club mate. having a compatable tubby timer and alarm is very nice but not necessary. my ApexI and Toad aren't compatable but its no bother.

there have been one or two Z31 owners asked questions on here before and we've politely directed them to the z club - not cos we dont like them but cos we probably wouldnt be able to answer their questions as well as the other guys.

auto is more fun in a straight line (and thru town :mad: ), manual is better on the twisties. i know cos my car's been both - bit of a schizo really
