what sound will I get by installing aftermarket air filter?
you probably wont notice any more intake noise cos the filter is so far away from the driving position. buying a cone filter will increase performance slightly on stock boost - and is a must for increased boost. as said above, dont bother with a twin setup until running big power. since i installed my twin intake, even to this day it still idles roughly - bring on the rolling road setup (in the distant future! )

thread too long for spacers!
yeah im settling on that idea slowly but surely! :D i ordered 20mm all round initially, but the rear hubs are about 25mm wider than the front, and spacing out even more would bring the wheel out past the arch and upset the Nazis (sorry, cops) yeah mine are 245 up front and 275 rear.

suspension - really need some help
good point mate i hadnt thought of that, and neither it seems did the chap who reckons he runs that setup on his skyline v-spec :slap: lol im brave enough im just thinking about all options first :smash: i'll probably end up doing just that current offset is 35mm

suspension - really need some help
thanks for looking at that mate - well i want to space out by 25mm so fingers crossed that will be part of the solution. the 18s that came off were 225 and although there hadn't been any noticable problem over the last 4 years, when they came off they were bold on the insides! it seems that they are also a little too close to the u-joint (or whatever it is) - which brings me back to suspension problems... i still dont like the sound of that even though enough experienced people on here have said its ok. i rang the chap again and explained my problem. unfortunately they don't do 25mm spacers, but he suggested that i get a 5mm standard spacer, put that on the hub BEFORE the 20mm hubcentric. this sounds like it makes sense, cos ive got about 5mm too much stock stud, and i dont lose any engagement between spacer and alloy. so i might pop down to halfraudulent and get a pair of 5mm paxo spacers

suspension - really need some help
if it sorts my problem out, where do i sign? lol 8.5x19 35 offset 245/35/19 on the front. im starting to come to the conclusion that for one reason or another my front is lowered. hmm....

Whats the stupidest injury you've..
almost burned my hand picking up a dump valve that i had not secured properly and had been dragging along sparking on the road :x: :x: beat that

suspension - really need some help
to the best of my knowledge its all stock. it probably gradually lowered itself over the years though, lol. perhaps a new suspension all round will help clear things up. ive thought about stiffening the ride just a little, to try and reduce the amount of travel i reckon 5mm will just be enough to do it, but as i mentioned in the other thread id prefer to use a 25mm spacer instead of my 20mm, rather than pad the existing spacer out and lose spacer thread onto the wheel. watch this space!

thread too long for spacers!
i wonder if yours were cut down in a previous life... roughly how much thread do you have? looks like mine has approx 25mm lol cheers mate! :D i thought about it but i was worried about not having enough thread left should i remove the wheels and be forced to put smaller ones back on. i might spunk out on a pair of 25mm spacers and see how i go with those mate. yeah tell me about it :( the 'pockets' as the chap calls them are a weird shape - fook knows what shape bolt theyre expected to house  because obviously the new studs are offset around the dial, the stud comes in line with the bit in the centre of the wheel that 'dips in' slightly. ...but it depends on what size spacers you were going to go for. i'll let you know how i get on with the 25s

Tyre pressure's
i normally run 32 at the front and 34 at the rear.

Sorry to all
sorry to hear about your loss mate :(

suspension - really need some help
in desperation, i need some advice on my front wheels and them scrubbing on the suspension. the story goes - ive recently got some 245/19s on the front (to replace my 225/18s). now the problem is that theyre right up against the elbow joint in the first picture, and i mean the wheels are almost being prevented from going to full lock. the first picture shows that even with that side of the car jacked up i can barely get my finger in the gap between the tyre and the joint - it doesnt look it but that's crushing my finger! needless to say that when going over even the smallest bump, i get some horrible rubbing sounds (oddly enough only from the offside though - yet both sides have the same 'zero' clearance) also needless to say ive only done about 3 miles in it since the wheels went on my idea was to space the fronts out 20mm to give the required clearance, but (as you can see in my other thread) the stock hub thread is slightly too long and doesnt sit inside the alloy, leaving the alloy not seated upon the centre of the spacer properly - so i'll have to go 25mm to overcome that problem. even with the 20mm spacers on (and the wheel kind of held in place) you can see from the 4th pic that there's still not a lot of room to play with ...but by going 25mm on the front, it seems that the tyres will be almost by not quite outside the arches and therefore being illegal. so my exasperation is: how the hell have those of you (you know who you are ;) ) with 245 up front overcome these problems? surely you have sufficient clearance between the tyre and the (u-join?) - and if you spaced them out, how come the rubber's not spilling outside the car? could it be that my stock suspension/geometry is just fooked and causing this problem? id really appreciate some help on this one gents as ive just gone from a high (bodykit next month - NA subframe on way, etc.) to a 'i cant even drive the barsteward thing'

thread too long for spacers!
well the plot thickens. i rang the guys who flog the wheels and they reckon that the inside of the wheel has pockets to allow for stud length. think to myself right eff this, take one of the fronts off and lo and behold there's a hole for the stud, but its in the wrong place and too close to the centre of the wheel. :headvswal you can see the overlap in the first pic. changing from 20mm to 25mm spacers should sort this out though, but then my fronts are almost outside the arch!

thread too long for spacers!
as far as im aware theyre standard - rusty as owt so they must be, lol. do you mean yours dont have enough thread on them?

Want one!
nice one mate, welcome to the club (properly! :D )

day of failure
well what a morning ive wasted. the garage that fitted my 19s couldnt book me in to fit the spacers (again!), so i decided to get into town and find a motor factors who could tell me what paint colour ive got. the chap at central car paint in Leicester was really helpful, but after looking at 1000 colours, we couldn't match it. so i drive over to b&q to see if theyve got any meshing suitable for my new bumper and all the meshing they had looked like its only suitable for keeping chickens in, so on the way back i pass by kwik fit and see that it's quiet, so get home with the intention of getting them to put my spacers on, collect the spacers and take the Z to them. lifted up, wheel off, spacers on, but lo and behold the thread from the hub comes out too far through the spacer and stops the wheel sitting on the spacer properly. :mac1::mac1::mac1::mac1::mac1: aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!! :wack::wack: the only good thing is my new reg plates came through and theyre all the right size and look good. still....

thread too long for spacers!
FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just been to kwik fit to have my 20mm spacers put on and the thread coming from the hub comes out too far through the spacer and stops the wheel sitting on the spacer properly :headvswal  :headvswal WHY??!?!??!??!?!? the guys there recommended getting an extra 10mm standard spacer to go on top of the 20mm hubcentric. plus they reckon (and i agree with them) that the rear doesnt need spacers at all, and seems to be almost flush with the arch as it is! surely the hubs are spaced out the same front and back arent they? f***ing wheels man! EDIT: the rear hubs seem to be 20mm wider than the front so ignore my comment above, you learn something new every day

the finished N/A subframe
hmm sounds promising, but when doing the NA diff conversion using factory props dont you need to make a hybrid TT / NA prop? in my mind, this prop up for sale is just a lightweight version of the NA prop. or am i complicating the issue?

the finished N/A subframe
just to resurrect this thread - groover's flogging an NA one-piece lightweight prop. could this be installed directly into a TT with the NA diff conversion, or does it have to be custom made like they do at Z1?

monkeys and bananas
Once upon a time a man appeared in a village and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each. The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them. The man bought thousands at $10 and, as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He next announced that he would now buy monkeys at $20 each. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer increased to $25 each and the supply of monkeys became so scarce it was an effort to even find a monkey, let alone catch it! The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50 each! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would buy on his behalf. In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers: "Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has already collected. I will sell them to you at $35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each." The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeys for 700 billion dollars. They never saw the man or his assistant again, only lots and lots of monkeys! Now you have a better understanding of how the GOVERNMENT'S BANK BAILOUT PLAN WILL WORK !!!!

is this the right colour?
thanks for the advice again everyone - im off work on Weds so i'll take it to a couple of motor factors in town and see if they can help. trouble is i didnt get my spacers put on on Sat like i wanted so i'll have to get them sorted first :headvswal then the new reg plates will be coming through, then i need to get some meshing (will try your suggestion Artz ;) ) blimey, who'd want to modify a car!?
