what sound will I get by installing aftermarket air filter?

I am thinking of buying an aftermarket induction kit for my Z, it is a manual twin turbo with bov`s installed.

If I go for the two mushroom filter set-up what sort of difference to performance and sound will it make, if any?

will the bov`s become louder?

cheers, Dan

Well you will be running same boost... so same amount of excess air will escape Bovs prob will be no change! (Waiting to be corrected)

Performance should get better (your current intake maybe crap or old) so even a new system will produce better more filtered air and with a doolz/ duelz set-up(preferred by the Big hp playes) should notice better performance as more air being sucked into the engine at all times than before!

Think of it as your car can now breathe better (new intake system) and suck in alot more air per breath :)

with a cone type filter I had an annoying "goose honk" from the recirc valves ...but seeing as you said "blow off valves" I´m guessing you won´t have that problem,

Stick with a single Air filter system until you are running over 500bhp.

Twins have no benefit until that sort of power and will only cause you problems.

Hi mate

You will need to get your ECU re-chipped for a dual filter intake.

:-)

I've got my Doolz in the FS section if you fancy going for a double.

you probably wont notice any more intake noise cos the filter is so far away from the driving position. buying a cone filter will increase performance slightly on stock boost - and is a must for increased boost. as said above, dont bother with a twin setup until running big power.

since i installed my twin intake, even to this day it still idles roughly - bring on the rolling road setup (in the distant future! )

As said dont think a cone filter will make much odd's at all on a tt , poss slight on a N/A?

First mate, an airfilter on a tt wont make any more noise than standard, but your dump valves WILL become louder.

2nd, i dont think you mean the doolz setup do you? do you mean the type sold on ebay in which they have two mushroom type filters and a y-pipe connected to the MAF?

If so, i wouldn't bother, instead buy an apexi cone filter, they're about £60-70 new and they're widely reguarded as the best option for a zed.

:bow::bow:

i opted for the hks single and to be honest cant say the improvement in performance was as big as i hoped for ( but im an optomist ) but still better than standard, . noise wise i couldnt tell you as the zed had a silly dustbin lid style single exit exhaust on it when i bought it so i cant hear much of anything when im driving....has its advantage though...cant hear the mrs telling my to "f@cking slow down " lol
