  1. You need a wideband lambda sensor in order to determine if you're running lean or rich. The only time when running lean is an issue (generally-speaking) is when on boost.
  2. Load (engine load) is comparable to 'boost' or air intake. It is calculated from the voltage outputted by the MAF. It's actually called TP, Theoretical Pulsewidth. On a stock ECU, when the TP/load hits a value of 127, it will hit "fuel cut". On most Nissans, this is at a much more sensible amount, and is akin to driving into a brick wall. On the Zed, for some reason it is waaaaaaaaaay beyond the scope of the stock maps (88 for fuel, 96 for timing). As an aside, since the fuel map is here for all to see in a video, and you can get a good idea of how the ECU functions: the average JWT/70bhp chip have exactly the same load values along the top axis. When the MAF sees more air than the ECU is programmed for (i.e. over 88 for the fuelling map), it simply takes the value from the last cell and uses that. No extrapolation, just the last cell value it sees....
  3. X-axis along the top: Load value from 8 to 88 Y-axis down the side: RPM value from 400 to 6400 Blue cells: O2 feedback enabled (closed loop mode). Subtract 192(decimal) to arrive at the fuel table value. Red cells: No O2 feedback (open loop mode). Yellow cells: Trace function showing which cells the ECU has accessed based on the load (MAF voltage) and RPM (CAS voltage). Green cell is the cell being accessed by the ECU at that moment in time.
  4. Just got back, 366 mile round trip. First time at a drift event, it was pretty damn awesome! Still buzzing for Jay, it's a good feeling to see MAPPED BY TURBONOZ on the bonnet of the winning car smoking the tyres round a circuit in front of loads of people. Next round he'll be qualifying with the Super Pros so I'm going to have to find some more power for him :D Even better though, my slightly modified Mondeo V6 did 34.7mpg on the way back and I wasn't hanging around. All in all, a great day
  5. Won the semi-pro :)
  6. The Turbonoz-mapped S13 of Jay Greene takes the win!! Awesome driving, awesome car.
  7. Sweet! Jay Greene in his S13 sponsored by TURBONOZ comes first in qualifying in the Pro Class! All this despite a loom issue. The guy got skills!
  8. Aircon belt is missing
  9. I think we know why that was  I've been looking to map an NA for some time. It would have been yours, but you bought it instead!
  10. Dual short intakes with the MAF relocated into the engine bay. Suffice to say, even that hasn't stopped air being forced up the filter causing a rich mixture at speed. I have no fog lights or rain guards, so I'll have to re-block the holes in the bumper. Annoying!
  11. Final results of the day: 456.5 bhp & 481.2 lb·ft (Flywheel) 397.0 whp & 437.5 lb·ft (Wheels) I think there is potential for more, truth be told my aim was 470 on pump fuel, so I was 13.5 bhp below my target. I've completely rewritten the fuel map from last weekend's drag effort, and it drives a whole lot nicer for it. I'm going to try a different fuel (these runs were done on Momentum99), and obviously an upgrade to 2.5" pipework plus a total rethink on the generic FMIC would be ideal. 19 power runs, about 25 pulls in total. - - - Updated - - - Cheers mate. Generic FMIC with paltry 2" pipework.
  12. Of course mate, didn't mean my answer to sound curt at all. I've not got a PM from you though!
  13. Persistence pays pays off. 455.0bhp & 464.9lbft Flywheel 395whp & 422lbft Wheels
  14. I've pushed injectors a lot harder than this over the years on other vehicles. I've never had one overheat & fail. By increasing the base pressure, it's actually the pump that gets worked harder. The injectors still open for the same amount of time, but more fuel flows through them for the same duration. There's a lot more headroom than I imagined there would be. The bottleneck is the miniscule turbos.
  15. Now that would be telling. Suffice to say I had to pull a huge amount of fuel from the 415bhp map.
  16. Filthy autos for you. Well, I think the potential is fully realised in its current spec. Nothing more to give. Edit: 58.4bhp transmission losses.
  17. As part of the final stage of development on the Turbonoz Z32, still on stock Auto turbos & injectors but with a Nismo adjustable FPR: 447.6bhp & 462.1lbft Flywheel 389.2whp & 420.1lbft Wheels Still on 2" IC pipework, stock turbo elbows & manifolds. At the dyno now, will update if it goes higher. Turbos have nothing left to give: Peaking to 1.45 bar and holding 1.2 bar to the redline. Lots of fuelling left, solid as a rock & very repeatable. Might upgrade the FMIC & pipework, otherwise this is it until larger injectors & turbos. For information: my last 1/4 mile run of 12.74@111mph was done at 415.4bhp. FINAL RESULT FOR NOW: 456.5 bhp & 481.2 lb·ft (Flywheel) 397.0 whp & 437.5 lb·ft (Wheels)
  18. Happy birthday!
  19. Cheers mate, I've met him quite a few times.
  20. Mine does exactly the same. Loudly.
  21. There is that, and that to me is the worrying thing: What if people just don't want to get involved. Thing is, that would have to be fair enough, there is no right or wrong, really. The people I've met really do love their Zeds, though. I think this is a very important thread. The Zed was one of the giants, one of the best cars made in the 90s. It needs resurrecting as such, which is only really obvious when you look further afield at other similar cars and how they've progressed, both as a tuning platform and as a respected marque. The posts made by Gio earlier on actually highlight how bad the situation is: A couple of mag shoots from 5-10 years ago is all there is to showcase the UK Zed scene, and even they weren't overly flattering. People say that the Zed scene is dead for a reason. Because at the moment it is. It may sound a bit pretentious, but it IS up to us as a community to change things. I'm not being melodramatic here. Tuning places and garages in general will NOT touch the Zed, and if they do, they screw it up. This really does count for a lot, because those tuning place & garages tell everyone the Zed is SHIT. I'm speaking from experience here, I talk to these people, I'm just not dishing out names. We have to show the potential Supra/RX7/Evo owner (i.e. the ones that dictate the market) that as a community we can cater for everything, and that's going to start by being more out there. The two Time Attack Zeds are a great place to start. Zed in BDC as well that should be getting backed.
  22. 110% I know it must be disheartening for the REOs to spend time & effort only for no one to turn up. Members themselves have to want to get involved. I just think that with more official 300zx.co.uk events, people are more likely to get off the net for half a day.
  23. For me it's not about changing anything to do with the forum, but promoting the marque & the club outside the confines of the internet. Regular meets, involvement with other clubs (eg. 300zx vs Supra), official 300zx.co.uk presence at shows & track days etc. Making the Zed in the UK a force to be reckoned with, as it is in other territories, not a 500 quid eBay snotter.... We're responsible for how the Zed is perceived by others. As I've said before, the general public adore the car. The reason why we get no parts support is because all the cool kids bought Supras & Skylines since Zeds are unreliable dogs. The reason why this thread keeps bouncing from point to point and topic to topic is because everything is related and intertwined. I've been in the Jap car scene for a long time, the Z32 is not kindly looked upon. I think that could change but for that to happen we need to take it to the masses. The forum itself is brilliant, nothing needs to change there IMO. Please ignore any spelling mistakes, on my phone.
  24. I love my Pulsar long time. I'm used to fast cars but that thing is vicious. Great on fuel, too!
