  1. See your GP for some wee blue pills, excessive suppleness shouldn't be a problem in this day and age!
  2. You could probably open up the sill seam at that point and replace the metal tubes, ideally with longer sections of tube to make it easier to reconnect the plastic drain tube .
  3. You have all the best reference material! Great pic! When you pull back the carpet from the inner sill you'll see tape over circular holes in the inner sill metal. Remove the tape to open up the holes and put the probe in there. You have to finesse it about in order to get through as many of the steel sections as possible. The holes go right through to the outer sill but they're staggered so it's not straightforward. Time consuming and as Si says very messy but a great investment. I sold a 1975 Lancia Beta coupe a few years ago that had been dinitrol'd when new and redone over the years, it still had original sills and chassis legs etc and was in spotless unwelded condition which is amazing when you consider that 70's Lancias rotted away to scrap within 3 years.
  4. Art- if you want to keep it rust free, get every cavity, sill section (4 sheet steel parts within some sections of the sills), inside doors, pillars, arches etc rustproofed with the best rustproofing liquid you can get (waxoyl is not the best - though better than nothing) As said before, they rust from inside out, so when you start to see it- too late to call it surface rust. It's like an iceberg, only a little visible on the surface!
  5. Your best route to a rust free car at a reasonable budget is to import your own or a fresh import from japan. I've had a couple of Zeds and a couple mitsubishis fresh off the boat as first UK owner. The underside, chassis components, suspension etc all looked like the car was less than a year old. Not a spot of rust anywhere. Zinc/cad plated washers that were 16yrs old looked like they'd been fitted last month. You'd be amazed at how fresh jap imports are. As long as there's been no serious accident damage which might give rise to rusty repairs, a fresh import will be your best bet for rust free. I can highly recommend buying or borrowing a borescope to look inside the body cavities/sill sections etc of any zed purchase. I have seen inside some real minters (zeds) and could see surface rust that the owner would've sworn wasnt in his car. He didnt know until the camera went in. It looked mint and was original on the outside. Get a fresh import and spray every cavity with Dinitrol/Bilt Hamber/3M cavity wax and it'll outlast you.
  6. Nice zed, looks well in that colour. Good luck
  7. How much rust is too much? Is all down to the will of the enthusiast and the value of the car. A mk1 escort in a completely scrap, totally rotten condition, way worse than any zed you'll see has now become so valuable as a finished car that almost none are not worth repairing.
  8. When Si says "I wouldnt go anywhere near that"..... it doesnt mean you cant! Si's Zed is "surgical theatre" clean but it's also worth about 3+ times what that one is worth. It's worth considering depending on further investigation. Compared to the other photos it's streets ahead of them.
  9. Such sad news, God bless her and you David. Rest in peace.
  10. Prescott's punch was the best bit of positive publicity he had as a politician. A bit like when Beckham had an affair with Rebecca the hired help. Both of these events raised those guys' ratings even though you wouldn't recommend either for a peerage based on those actions. Petrolheads generally love Clarkson, it doesnt make what he did (allegedly) ok I heard Lord Grade (ex BBC chairman) say "no one is bigger than the BBC"...................since Jimmy Savile died!!!!
  11. No wonder they punted him, how did he think he'd get away with that sort of behavior with the charity bus!
  12. The BBC now full own it since buying out Jeremys share last Sept.
  13. Sorry....that should read.."would NOT want to go back to Edmonds and Goffey......"
  14. I've read most of his books and they're excellent, very funny and well written. He is Top Gear. But you can't punch a producer 'coz you're food isnt ready, that's "Diva Central" It sounds like he's either a bit bored with the show or has lost his hunger or wants to do something different. (I'm told an abundance of money can have that effect!) All good things come to an end at some point. If he just walked out coz he is fed-up we'd be debating who should replace him. Maybe his time has passed. I'll miss him and would want to go back to Top Gear with Noel Edmonds and Chris Goffey (pleasant and all as they were). There's someone out there who could give the show a new lease of life......who is it? Some have already suggested Chris Evans, though not a car guru but a complete petrolhead nevertheless.
  15. ....... I never fully read...I thought service and brakes. Suspension- new std shocks and springs will cost almost as much as KYB shocks and decent springs. Proba c£400 if you shop around (parts prices, not inc labour)
  16. You're probably looking at approx £1k for discs & pads all round (decent std quality) and a cambelt service. (Perhaps a little more/less) If you're up to it, you can do it yourself and save quite a bit on labour. (However as you'll no doubt be aware, theses cars are not really a handy man's diy proposition but if you're brave, give it a go, if you get stuck you can get help)
  17. Yes! Great detailed photos, well done
  18. Lovely little nissan. The MR2 looks like a minter. If it's as good as it looks then as you probably know , its worth top money and a bit more due to turbo etc. A NA/TT conversion is likely to end up costing you more than buying a decent TT. Good luck
  19. £15k - I agree. But someone might just buy it. Then the bar is raised a little bit.
  20. That spoiler looks like it was "made in Hong Kong"!
  21. Is this a video clip of you bidding for this car at auction. I always thought you were really a closet body kit fan!
  22. [quote=phutumsch;1861533) And as for the price he wont find a buyer at no where near that who loves it as much as he does, unfortunately. I hope he does find a buyer at that money. It would be good news for all Z owners. Its a bit OTT for me but I'm sure lots of people will like it. Good luck to him. Also- consider that theres one for sale at £15k belonging to a member on here. Maybe these cars are about to take off.
  23. A little bit of coppaslip on the threads and it'll make them easier to remove in future, just ensure its only on the threads.
  24. They almost look like old wellers on the lambo
  25. Yeah when he stops sniffing glue!
