Earlier in the week I drove from Las vegas to Flagstaff Arizona, back to Vegas then to LA and back and saw ONE potential speed trap (LAPD on a freeway bridge). Drove through the centre of LA too. Can't really understand why this Country is spear-heading this campaign when it doesn't make our roads any safer and doesn't generate anywhere near as much revenue as a minor increase in tobacco tax would. One idea is to cover the plate with an LCD panel which turns black when Radio/IR detectors pick up radiation from the doppler measurement device. This isn't rocket science, the difficulty would be obtaining the correct sized LCD panel.

Having left the NHS, you are spot on there but you missed the point that most of the funds for new staff also go to inventing new management posts, for which there is no need. The solution to congestion is to get all that foreign freight back on the rail network where it belongs and not on our fookin motorway network. These foreign distibution companies fill up their tanks abroad, wear out our roads delivering to other subsidised foreign companies over here, then fill up abroad again on their way back to base. Makes me proud to be British :rolleyes:

When I saw the title of this thread, I though to myself - North Wales Police. Expect NO SYMPATHY from traffic police around here whatsoever. I don't speed around here anymore, it's just not worth giving them the satisfaction. Whether it's 02.00 or 14.00 they'll be there, IR cameras and all, yet it's common knowledge that they egg-on young drivers here to race them and then nick them. Many of them are taunting arrogant *******s with a juvenile approach to policing. I've not got a bad word to say against traffic police from other areas, in fact they've always been very helpful and fair. I drove to Holyhead tonight down the A55 and they were waiting on the Gaerwen slip road, there was virtually no traffic around. You may only get a short term ban in which case you may be able to book leave for the period of the ban. Hope they don't hit you too hard mate. PM Muffy on here, he may be able to help you with the legalities. I should add that one of my work colleagues got lasered at 90 then followed/officially clocked at 115 for a mile near Rhosneigr on the A55 and got away with a 2 week ban, make sure you play on the fact that your job depends on you having a driving licence. I got a 2 week ban for averaging 100.0 down the A55, but that was in 1990!

There is a large, free carp park by Dunsop Bridge which is a beautiful place but I know lots would get lost on the way LOL! Once got stuck in a car-high snow drift there for 8 hours but that's another story.
